So you know in real life, certain planes have been renamed after the manufacturer got bought out or merged (example the Avro RJ/BAe 146, or the Bombardier C-Series/Airbus A220). We already have variants as advanced customisation (example ER/LR) being able to change aircraft name, would be nice for some people who maybe want to fly their plane under its pre-merger name instead of post-merger for whatever reason

The Bombardier A-220 doesn't exist, the Airbus A220 does.
Bombardier CS
You don't change just the manufacturer yk
mm yes i love me the boeing md-11
It never got called Boeing because it got discontinued by then
I'm talking about actual planes that had been in production
In that case, that can be done too, we already have options for engines
didnt expect mod team to make suggestion
Just because we are mods doesn't mean we can't pitch ideas
Granted we can pitch ideas in staff chat technically but that can get lost in conversation and the public can't speak about said idea so
Mfw prople forget that mods are players too and not just people who join to ban someone then leave
i thought you guys were like bots

lmao what
I recall Rice said no because it will quickly turn into regional variants pithole
If it doesn’t have anything different stat wise or visual wise
Oh
So you default to the new name rather than the old one
@fringe gyro MD-95
just es the plane and set your own nickname
(this is a joke i know the suggestion is different)
Enclaved is correct yeah; it looks good on paper, but actually implementing it would be quite painful
the A220 isn't really the worst one, but moreso older airliners like the 737 that have hundreds of customer codes
At the end of the day, it also doesn't really impact gameplay in a positive meaningful way; if anything it could cause extra confusion as those names would not be listed in the database (for now at least)
thanks for the suggestion regardless
It's not about unique codes but just planes that were branded before the company merged into another, as I said bombardier CS300 becoming thr A220 yk?
We only do the most current name for the reasons above
well the code is still BCS3 irl no?
I mean that is it's IRL ICAO
when airbus renamed the Cseries the icao didnt change
BCS1 for the A220-100 and BCS3 for the A220-300
I believe so
I just found it funny that it didn't get recoded lmao
But hey it's a throwback to its origins
I assume recoding takes far too much paperwork for it to be worth it
the question is
theoretically if there were to be a new a220 variant would the icao be recoded
With this logic the A330 neo could be renamed to the A350-800
well not really
yea but the A330neo was never built with the name A350
true
https://discord.com/channels/820044095535185951/1346108163866493030 would this one actually work in the game?
no the variant would get its own code
roles ain't matter

though I think it gets easier to talk with one of the devs when you're a staff
the thing is, suggestions are made for the public people to talk into and have a discussion about a particular topic
may that be on how it does things, why it's good, or if this is worthy for the public to add the suggestion
fair point
Yeah we have direct contact with the devs
We chat together like homies
CS300 was never made tho wasn't it?
nvm turns out it was
i always assumed airbus bought it before the first delivery
Kinda weird hearing it being referred to as a different plane
When it’s really the same thing
i meant like, i thought they changed it to the A220 before the first delivery
which I then googled and found out is false
it was delivered as the CS100/CS300
It wouldn’t for the reasons described below the message you replied to
Sir
The RJ and 146 are technically two separate aircraft
Though
Exterior wise they’re identical
Afaik
Different avionics and whatnot iirc right?
well uh, now that there are multiple specs of the DC-8 that's linked with the engines, is there a chance for the same to be applied on airbuses?
take for the example the DC-8-12 in the viewer
one of the engine options was RR Conway 509 which is considered a -41 spec
now it would be nice to see something like these on airbuses:
A330:
P&W PW4000-100 (-X23)
RR Trent 700 (-X43)
GE CF6-80C2 (-X03)
A320:
CFM56 (A32X-214)
V2500 (A32X-232)
Rice already denied these alternate name options
Literally in the very message you replied to
And the message he replied to
