Some history of the airport (this is one of the most historical aiports of spain 🇪🇸 ):
Madrid-Cuatro Vientos Airport (IATA: QYU, ICAO: LECU/LEVS) is a third-class airport facility located 8 km from the centre of Madrid (Spain), in the neighbourhood of the same name (Latina district). Founded in 1911, it was together with the Tablada air base in Seville, one of the two oldest airports in Spain and cradles of Spanish aviation.
Initially it was an air base of the Spanish Air Force. However, it has been used since the 1970s for joint civic-military use. Since then, the civil section has been almost exclusively dedicated to general and light executive aviation. Currently, Cuatro-Vientos is the base of several schools, including some of the country's leading flight academies, flight clubs or private aircraft.
It is also the base in Madrid for several State services, such as the surveillance helicopters of the General Directorate of Traffic, the National Police and the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Spain.
