#Mandate Use Of Timestamps In Auctions

(Example of timestamp, with long date with day of week and short time)
or just put end in one hour or ends in 3 days
(apparently people can't do math)
so you gotta tell them the exact time an auction ends
How do you think they will able to do this
i kinda agree tbh
using these websites is mind-numbingly easy
Do it manually?
Rule enforcement?
You mean creating timestamps?
the very first message in the thread

do you mean creating timestamps, or enforcing use of timestamps
for creating timestamp, you can use this website
(literally the first result when you search "discord relative timestamp")
or another similar website
Automwtically change their time to timestamp
you don't
so create a bot?
You said it
the enforcement would work exactly like other trade rules
I dont think it is neccessary
It is not uncommon for people to bid on auctions with a non-timestamp end time after they have ended
no suggestion is ever necessary
IMO this takes 20 seconds of the auctioneer's time, but makes it insanely more convenient for bidders
maybe get @silent oar 's opinion on this
-# Im annoyed by how we can ping people by pressing their name now
Me too
@solid whale @solid whale @solid whale @solid whale @solid whale
@lean fulcrum @lean fulcrum @lean fulcrum @lean fulcrum @lean fulcrum
That
are you on mobile?
Yep
mobile
Sorry for ping
It’s all good
almost random pinged a mod because of this yesterday
I almost pinged roteilen like 8 times yesterday
Roteilen got muted now
Ik

rot had an auction that didn't trade in 72hr, idk about the regular mute
Didnyou witness that moment
I just woke up*
can't it be the buyers' resposibility to convert the time
(in actuality I only really use this server for updates and trading)
Buyer's
bro what,*

the auctioneer is the one setting the time tho
it makes slightly more sense for them to make it into a timestamp
which, once again, takes 20 seconds to do
"In a day" sometimes is not 24 hours (according to some people)
i hate how it's not needed yet is needed at the same time
also you regularly get people posting stuff like "ends tomorrow at 8pm" and we have to chase them for hours to get them to tell us their timezone

and there are edge cases such as Daylights Savings Time that can cause confusion
that too
as i said before
suggestions are seldom necessary
doesn't mean they wouldn't be an improvement

give us 694324298462354316879459316 WP
checks suggestion
reads
leaves
freak oh yeah that suggestion
I'm going to come back to this later
shame, would've been good and easy
Hello.
I do not think this is too useful of a enforcement/idea, as a user can literally just look on their calendar and check with the number of hours/days.
There's no point in making it mandatory just because people aren't willing to spend 2 minutes referring to their timezone and date etc, and relying on a timestamp instead.
Having the timestamp set by the auctioneer is complete personal preference, not only will it be quite frustrating for the auctioneer to set up as it needs a specific discord format scheme, but it also gets users in trouble unnecessarily if trade standardised this.
Do understand that yes, it is a good idea, it is only a visual/quality of life thing. Hence making it a rule is a little excessive.
Thank.
@toxic mesa
What about simply encouraging people to use it in the rules section
Personal preference, encouragement just means favouring one side, there isn't a necessity.
It's not gonna hurt someone if you encourage timestamp usage 💀
Then it is not suitable for the rules channel.
why not put it as an informational message, that message would link to a trusted website that intuitively generates the timestamps and would say
" If you wish for your bidders to have an easy understanding of the auction end time, you can use this website to generate a timestamp that shows the exact time to every user in their respective timezone."
if “trade-rules-and-info”, why not also “auction-rules-and-info”
having to look up the timezone can be really confusing especially if someone is on the other side of the world and you don’t just have to figure out what time it ends, but also what day it ends
@pallid tundra what do you think of this?
instead of mandating it
coming <t:3674434800:R>
cool
@silent oar thank you so much !
imagine if someone actually waits 61 years to complete ur timestamp

?
