National STOL is a competitive aerosport league focused arount STOL Flying, with competitors attempting to have the shortest combined takeoff and landing in their class. National STOL started in 2020, with a pair of events, and has since grown to have a companion eSTOL series in Microsoft Flight Simulator, and to have 12 event slated for the 2025 season, with multiple categories dependent on aircraft. It is the place to test STOL skill for pilots, wither you are in a C210 or a Scout
STOL flying is a not very well fleshed out part of Aeronautica. While there are some good bush airports and planes, plenty of unregistered airstrips, and a small but commited community, I think this would not only be a fun addition for bush pilots, but for pilots of all kind
My idea of the runway would have a standard width, something similar to Oconee. The runway itself would be best sized at around 500 to 1000ft. The runway would have white lines across it every 20ft, with a red marker on each side marking a foot. A triangular sign would be on each side at each 20ft marker, indicating distance for each direction
For location, my two favourite locations are
1-Lynwood Municipal Airport-This airport already has a small grass strip, that could readily be converted, as well as plenty of open space to set up a small STOL strip
2-New Englandtown Regional Airport. This airport is recieving a small remodel, so I think that it would be a good fit, considering KNET also has a fair bit of space
