INTRODUCTION
With the recent advancements within Aeronauticas GUI, specifically, the advanced customization menu being able to add or subtract small features from aircraft. I believe the 707 is a great platform to expand upon the diversity of the games military aircraft.
PROPOSAL
As a conversion kit for the 707 I believe the KC-135R, RC-135V/W, WC-135R, would be excellent as a convertible aircraft with advanced customization. The advanced customization would eliminate the need for multiple variants to be modeled. This would support the following aircraft and missions.
AERIAL REFUELING
KC-135R Stratotanker (Initial model from conversion)
KC-135R Mod. MPRS (MPRS is the drogue attachment for for ends of the wings of the KC-135)
__SURVEILLANCE __
RC-135V/W Rivet Joint (Initial Model from conversion)
RC-135U Combat Sent
RC-135S Cobra Ball
WEATHER RECONNAISANCE
WC-135R Constant Phoenix (Initial model from conversion)
As a developer myself, I can see how this is very intimidating as a project. That being said I believe the addition of these aircraft could greatly stimulate the trade economy as well as provide an opportunity to make players grind for specific conversions increasing play time within the game. I.E. You'd need to fly the KC-135R for an extended amount of time before you'd be able to convert it to a WC-135R. Ultimately requiring more time in order to unlock the RC-135V/W tree. I have provided an example below:
707->KC-135R
Freebie conversion as long as money requirement met.
ADV CUSTOMIZATION, players may add drogue pods to support multiple aircraft refueling.
KC-135R->WC-135R
Unlocks weather reconnaissance missions, unlocked after 45 minutes of flying the KC-135R with large money requirement.
NO ADV CUSTOMIZATION
KC-135R-> RC-135V/W
Unlocks surveillance missions, unlocked after 120 minutes of flying KC-135R with larger money requirement.
ADV CUSTOMIZATION, players may create other RC-135 modifications as they please.
The time barrier would greatly increase the value of both the RC-135V/W and WC-135R models in the trade market if this conversion table were to be used (times are just ballpark ideas).
The E-3G and the E-8C aircraft respectively would be blue rarity only showing up in markets rarely. Keeping trade market value high. Theoretically the E-8C could support advanced customization as the differences between the E-3A, E-3B, E-3C, and E-3G would all be interesting cosmetic options. However the difference between the E-3C and the E-3G are very minor.
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS
The C-135 and the 707 (god forbid the E-3G) are not the same aircraft and while they may look similar, both being 4 engines early 1950's design there are very major difference's to a trained eye. The C-135 is based off the prototype to the 707, the Boeing 367-80. **Some major differences include the shape of the wings, lack of passenger doors, length, width, shape of wings, landing gear, fuselage shape, and APU location just off the top of my head. **Additionally the E-3 has the advantage of not being built in the 50's and takes a lot of technological advances to it's structure and shape further differing it from a base 707.
AFTER MENTIONS
To my understanding there is already an E-3G in the game however it is a staff only vehicle. I also understand it is up to developers discretion to remodel aircraft. **The only reason the E-3G is included in this suggestion is because I am an active duty USAF crew chief for that jet. I could provide a whole new world of detail and insight in the modeling process. A majority of my career I have been working various variants of the KC-135, however every now and then I've had the opportunity to work with all variants of the RC-135 the WC-135, and recently I have branched into the E-3G. ****
If this suggestion gets enough feedback and if development is willing, I am willing to advise during the modeling process.
