Junkers made the first All metal combat plane (?) with the Junkers J.I (Monoplane), but this one is equally great.
Using all metal in an era of doped fabric and wood (Even above some planes in the 1930s in this regard with still doped fabric wings being somewhat common), it was able to sustain a larger hit and survive. It features a bathtub of armour surrounding the cockpit, and a ability to be transported in small sections. As a sequisplane, it was longer on the top than on the bottom. It was made too little too late (Like a certain other breakthrough in Germany during a world war) and only 227 were produced. It could be used for low level attack or some form of primitive cargo drop to supply trenches with some food and ammo. Mainly however, it was a recon plane.
