the range for the icebreaker has a range of 1800 miles but the crew doesnt have infinte food.
this is not a nessasary feature
yeah i think so
range for nuclear powered vehicles takes this into consideration since it would be harder to code it

That’s what the stat represents
It doesn’t state “crew life: 5 hours” or whatever
no like it could be fuel supply for the crew, and only for the nuclear boats, since their range is already a number so large it doesnt really matter
Aircraft lifespan is 6 hours on max throttle

i for one shall partake in being the first yes of this here fair post
the only sail i ever did for that boat was 14 hours long and i have like 92% fuel left
then just count the crew’s sustinance to match the fuel duration

And because having to supply your crew changes the premise of the game
You no longer are flying your own aircraft or sailing your own boat you are managing a crew

because Roblox has massive vision lag and collisions between moving boats and aircraft would be different across each client unless the fabric of the game is recorded
how about it only works when the boat is stopped
recoding the physics to eliminate vision lag would instead put lag into your inputs...

i mean as in make it so that "x replacement" is a special mission type for helicopters and VTOL aircraft where you get a set of coordinates somewhere in the sea where a boat will spawn, just like in SaR missions and you have to land on it
Would be better to just place an invisible marker brick on the helipads for larger ships and every X ingame days an AI helicopter with no collision will fly to your boat from the horizon, land on the pad, and fly off again to respawn
it would pathfind to said invisible marker thus eliminating need for collision
way too much coding needed for that

The physics ruin it all
one of my favorite things i've ever done with boat collisions was help a mod with his shipping run by literally ramming his boat with my KM, picking it up on top of it like a god damn baby

saved him like 5 hours of boating
in 20 minutes

This is already accounted for
Some ships have a max endurance value, which we use to determine range by multiplying it with max speed
If it doesn't have one, we'll assume 90 days of endurance
does endurance effect anything
Its just related to crew provisions and how long they can stay at sea
So not ingame

Endurance isnt an ingame stat, just an IRL information

TLDR using nuclear fuel for range you'd have range values in the range of 10k, 20k, 30k kilometers ingame
Using endurance its around 2000 km
This is on the LK-60ya's wikipedia page
Still more than enough for any needs

Endurance is converted to range, and that range is then lowered to Aero scale, like every other vehicle

thats 14640 minutes in game

244 times its speed is like 6400
miles
If a ship does 20 knots, you do 180(days) x 24(hours) x 20(knots) x 1.852(to convert nmi to km)
each game day is 80 minutes midnight to midnight
Then stick the result in our range calculator

I think my suggestion now is just a cosmetic change to change the word fuel with supplies
cause you have way more fuel than what it says on the tin

and when supplies end, the boat just loses control and you cant end the job
I don’t think it’s a good idea to have an intentional softlock feature
you still can end flight
