Shrugbot Seaplane Suggestion #56
Light Amphibian
The 329Amphibian was a unique catamaran-hulled light amphibian designed for recreational and light military use.
It is more or less an amalgamation of many successful light seaplane designs such as the Republic SeaBee, Lake Renegade, and various kitplanes. The twin-hull design increased stability on water and in the air, and also allowed the craft to hydroplane on the water’s surface while landing. Conventional landing gear was stationed to drop from the inside of each pontoon along with a fixed wheel at the rear.
A static and a radio-controlled flight model were produced in 2003, with initial sea trials being expectedly promising.
The project preceded until 2007 until it transitioned into Privateer: a joint-venture undertaken by Leader Industries and Orion Technologies, which would develop the 329Amphibian into the full-scale and airworthy Privateer Amphibian.
