The MD-XX was a trijet design which was proposed early into the development of the MD-12. Essentially an extended MD-11 with a new tail, avionics, etc., it would have supplanted it as MD's primary widebody, designed to compete with the A340 and older 747s. The design was eventually shelved in favour of the double-decker design which became the MD-12, before the whole project was cancelled in the late 1990s.
There are two main variants of this aircraft: the MD-XX Stretch and the MD-XX LR. Both aircraft would have uprated engines, a new tail which used composites in its construction, a larger casing for the No. 2 engine, larger wings and landing gear, and had freighter variants.

I was really hoping to see a 3-engine MD-12. IIRC it was suppose to be powered by 3 90,000lb thrust class engines.
