Giant Seaplane
After the closure of many large-scale seaplane/WIG projects such as the LL600, the Beriev design bureau proposed the Be-1200: an oversized passenger/cargo aircraft which could transport large amounts of goods or passengers without the need for runways.
At the time, the Be-1200 was designed for a role that no other plane could do. But with the creation and production of oversized land-based aircraft such as the Dreamlifter and Beluga, the niche the Be-1200 was designed for was filled, thus interest and funding for the project dried up.
The proposed variants included a cargo and passenger version.
