out of all my suggestions I really wanna see this one

different devs have very different workflows

and this will make uv maps even more inconsistent

a lot of old f16 liveries are already broken

I'll rather have a inconsistent UV than not have the XL at all

the mainstream planes like a330 already being inconsistent are really weird

Really old thread but wanted to jump in to say:
Making the liveries consistent is helpful when it’s stuff like the A330, A350, etc. where they have multiple very similar variants.
I doubt most would complain that an F-16 with a delta wing has a different UV to the regular F-16.
(Also good lord the L-1011 UV is nigh unreadable thanks to the amount of layers for adv customization)

Not really.
I kinda feel like this is something y’all (as a whole) don’t really understand (especially with variants of fighters).
while visually similar, the XL had a litany of under the hood changes. This would mean it needs a new detail kit anyhow because of said under the hood changes that aren’t obvious on an outside glance.
It’s visually "close enough" in theory, but realistically it's not similar enough to reuse anything but the RADOME details. As najmi points out, the wing strakes are different on the XL, which actually changes the fuselage profile. The existing detail kits wouldn’t work.

And I guess the vertical stabilizer details now that I think about it
