Hi!

I’m reaching out because a personal use emote I uploaded was recently rejected (link: https://7tv.app/emotes/01KQ2PXHXRAPECZNM7QEKQFFEW) and I’m looking for some clarification.

When creating this emote, I followed the guidelines shared by a moderator (link: #1466909978487951371 message) as well as the Help Center article (link: https://help.7tv.app/en/articles/11072846-7tv-emote-upload-guidelines). After double-checking both, I’m still not sure why it didn't pass.

What’s confusing is that a very similar emote is already approved for personal use: https://7tv.app/emotes/01J86P0BF00004HJ8DYSFE21KV. I actually used that one as a base, but I improved it by making it slower (less distracting) and less wide. Even though it’s technically "safer" than the approved version, mine was still rejected.

Could you please let me know the specific reason for the rejection? I'd appreciate a link to the exact rule that was broken and clear instructions on what I need to change (aspect ratio, framerate, etc.) so I can get it approved for personal use.

Thanks for your time and help!

I rejected the other emote for personal use, it is too wide. As to your emote - guidelines for personal emotes are more strict and emotes can be rejected for reasons not mentioned in them. I'm not the mod that rejected your emote but I suppose it might be due to how it uses twitch "official message" and may be used to trick people, like cheer emotes (https://7tv.app/emotes/01F84EFS680007VKAP2VR1K6PB).

all personal emotes are reviewed individually

I really doubt it could be used to trick people, since when you actually get banned on Twitch, the chat completely disappears and the ban message shows up right in the middle of the screen.

I'm guessing the rejection was actually because it's too wide. What's the exact aspect ratio it needs to be to get approved? I tried to stick to the 3:1 rule (mod message), but I assume it needs to be even smaller for personal emotes? I read in some other posts that maybe a 1.9:1 ratio is a safer bet.

emotes under 3:1 are fine for personal use. The 1.9:1 could be true in the past but we adjusted the rules to allow more wide emotes for personal

Gotcha. Could you let me know the exact pixel dimensions it should be to get approved? I made mine 360x128, which in theory is under the 3:1 limit (2.81:1). I can definitely make a new one that's less wide if I need to.

Or maybe I misunderstood and this emote could still be approved? Or could the mod who rejected it clarify if the issue was strictly about the visuals/content?

It's one of my favorite emotes and I'd really love to take it everywhere with me, so I just want to make sure I'm doing things right.
