I'm trying to update an emote with a new appearance (emote is a game item icon and the art got changed so trying to change the emote) but I cannot figure out how to get this to work.
I thought that the "Merge" button was supposed to do something but clicking this does nothing at all (adblocker off)

I'd like to be able to update the appearance so I don't have to tell people who may be using it to update to the newest version, especially since there's a few I might need to update.

What am I missing?

the merge button is for 7tv moderators only

you can't replace an existing emote with a new picture, otherwise this will be abused by bad users.
you can upload a new emote and tell people that they should replace your old one with the new

That merge button is not functional

It wasn't mean to be visible to others. This was a mistake. But old devs didn't bother to make it functional and hide it for non-mods. I'll fix that.
