#7tv doesn't load in Firefox when opening Twitch
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Does it happen every time?
yes, it does happen every time after closing the browser. i have set firefox to keep twitch cookies. it happens on windows and linux
Are you using any other extensions?
Like dark reader? Or any ad blocks maybe
ublock and dark reader
Try to disable dark reader on twitch
And see if the issue persist
For some reason dark reader has always caused issues
i think it is disabled on twitch by default (global blacklist)
Oh odd hmm
Can you make a new Firefox profile with just 7tv on it
Just so we can rule that out
i can disable all extension in settings
If you want yeah
I guess some things can still be cached but not sure how it works for extensions like that
no change after disabling extensions and restarting browser
closing browser clears cookies and stuff in my settings except twitch cause thats on my locked cookies list
i did that cause otherwise 7tv settings would end up resetting
Yeah
I am not a big Firefox knower but looking at Reddit it seems to just be a timing issue? 7TV is loading faster than Twitch is so that’s why it works on refresh
They say it usually fixes itself without having to do anything
Maybe you would know @hoary basalt
oh, now that i think about it, theres some setting in about:config that is called wait to render page or something like and its set to load page immediately so maybe changing it to a value higher than 0 might help

Yeah that might help
Not sure if it does anything with extensions but you never know
now if only i could actually find it lol
about:config and then search nglayout.initialpaint.delay
That’s why I am not a Firefox enjoyer xD it’s so technical (for me)
welp it didnt work
no idea but if it happens only on first twitch load then I suppose that's an issue with the extension
can you show console logs from when it happens?
how would i go about doing that?
ctrl+shift+c on twitch page > console > make sure all levels are selected and type 7tv into filter
but only when this happens
I think you can also export logs somehow to a .log file? but idk how to do that honestly on firefox
https://kappa.lol/WixTyr oh, you can right click console where messages are and save all messages to file
there it is
and you couldn't see 7tv logo in the moment of taking these logs?
cause everything seems fine
yes, it is open and all this time it doesnt show that is until i will refresh
opening stream also doesnt make it show up tho it is visible in chat
Yeah that’s why I think it’s a timing issue because 7tv is still loading
seems like it, maybe it needs some delay or preload idk
so the only thing missing is the logo in top right?
rest of extension works?
thats right but i cant access config if it is invisible
correction there is a way to open config from chat but still
will forward it to dev channel
thanks for reporting
tho I can't seem to replicate it
so weird
maybe its specific to certain browser settings. hmmm... i might try running a portable version of firefox some other day on defaults and see if it does work different
tried reinstalling firefox from scratch with revo uninstaller so it deletes everything and it didnt make difference. firefox portable from portabbleapps surprisingly worked fine with the extension. also one annoying unrelated thing - firefox says another instance is updating it and i had to update the app manually using intaller exe wtf?
Dark reader And our extention currently conflict and we're looking for a fix for that. Disable it on Twitch
it was still broken after disabling all extensions #1452403052710461511 message
Yeah, it's something else but i dunno what. I tested it on a different devices (laptop, android phone) and it doesn't happen there. It's just on my PC both on windows and Linux
What version of firefox are you using?
let me replicate this
And what extention? nightly or stable
Latest - 146. I even reinstalled 7tv from mozilla extension store
I had it installed from a file manually before that
Why?
It's on the addon store
did you try installing it from there?
remove that file and install from addon store. Because the old one is not signed I think. the one on the addon store is
As i said i installed it from there
Do you have YouTube open right now?
It just before that it wasn't available on the store. Also I'm not on the pc now
Ok could you @ me when you're on PC so we can figure this out?
On my end firefox latest on nightly works perfectly fine
It's something to do with certain configuration in Firefox probably but i tried adding/removing profiles and even uninstalling the browser but still nothing
When you're back on PC @ me
We'll figure it out
I bet it's cloudflare blocking your IP just like how it did with some others
Hmm, that's interesting. Cause it does work but the 7tv logo just doesn't show until i refresh the page
We'll see
im on PC now (windows)
Ok. Close all tabs and only open Twitch normally. And see if 7TV loads
Are you using stable or nightly?
The blue one or the purple one ?
its open and i guess its stable since its the one from mozilla store
it show blue icon i guess?
yes its all set
And make sure ot not skip so Twitch get's the permission it needed
Oh you did ok
Can you show me the console?
i believe the log file is in previous posts
OIn this one it seems it's loaded and there's nothing wrong
Which doesn't match with this screenshot since it's not loaded at all
this is with 7tv word in search
it is loaded but it dont show in the corner, it always shows in chat
Does it load in a chat though?
yes cause i can access settings from there too
As you can see from this log
[7TV] [DEBUG] <Module/Command Manager> Waiting for modules: chat, chat-input (site/twitch.tv) seventv.GearsIcon.3.1.15.js:5:3838
Ok then what's the issue?
The extention does in fact wait for the modules then it injects
it waits for the chat and chat input then it injects
but it still doesnt show the main settings icon next to my profile icon
Ok can you remove the extention
And download this one?
Don't forget to close Twitch before
ok keep console open. then refresh the page and let me see
You still have dark reader on
Can you disable it?
It interferes with our extention as of now and we're still working on a fix for that
1st opened, after refresh and the last with dark reader disabled
I still don't understand why it happens like that for you
But I'll look in-depth and see if I can find the root of the issue. For me on both versions on latest firefox it works fine
I'm not sure what's blocking it form being injected
I notcied something
You don't seem to have the turbo button here
Did you remove it somehow using ublock or something?
that cause i hid it with ublock but even with ublock disabled it doesnt change anything
Ok how about this
Close twitch fully
then disable ublock and dark reader
then give it a shot
I'm afraid you removed the root of the injection element we inject onto for the settings button
thats what i did. every time i disable extension or hit refresh i close firefox
Can you try it this time again?
ublock or some other blocker is blocking a major element there for injection
I'm pretty sure
I mean if you allow the extention to work in incognito alone by itself. it may work instantly
im looking at it right now and it literally the 3rd photo and the incognito allow is on

Do you have any other browser open right now?
Ik i'm asking random questions but I am just putting a theory to find the issue
nope thats the only one installed, even edge is gone
Ok so according to your logs :
[7TV] [DEBUG] <Module/Settings> Ready (site/twitch.tv) seventv.GearsIcon.3.1.15.js:5:3838
This basically means the the settings icon did in fact inject
But then after something get's it removed. Otherwise if extention is failing to inject it. It would raise an error for this specific log
or a warn at least
I still can't figure out your case and what's there you have on firefox that makes the button dissapear.
For anyone right now it works fine. But there's osmething you got that makes it not work and I can't figure it out
Can you show me the full list of your extentions rq?
its literally just the 3 we talked about ublock darkreader and 7tv nothing else
But this is not our issue
Like extention is injecting perfectly fine with no warnings or errors about the settings button being raised
That's what's confusing me
If you got only 3 extentions. yet our extention is injecting perfectly fine. Then there's something else
idk if its render error or cache or some setting.... it worked in portable version of firefox when i tried earlier today
So it's your firefox version?
No I think it's your firefox config. or something in it
like an addon or something
Because everything works fine. But yet it get's removed by something else and not 7TV extention
i think it has to do with the config but god knows what
Worse case senario
Clear Twitch's data
that way you have a full clean " setup "
it'll log you out
You can clear these manually if you'd like
or press on the lock icon top left and it should prompt you
i did clear cookies and stuff even uninstalled firefox. i can try again but idk..
Yea Idk either ngl
It does not look like an us issue
But something with your setup
but! I'll keep looking through the extention to see what could also cause it and let you know
i think there was an option to reset firefox to default settings somewhere...
A Refresh can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its default state while saving essential information like bookmarks and passwords.
i did refresh and at first it didnt do anything but after another restart it started loading properly the extension
i think i found the culprit. even though i had set firefox to not delete cookies of twitch i also had enabled 'clear cookies and website data when closing firefox'. it seems it deletes some extension data and then 7tv thinks it wasnt set up with onboarding. Kinda weird cause i always had that option enabled and 7tv didnt have this problem. I will have to just deal with having cookies for every site enabled at all times
I knew it would be related to onboarding issue
Well I'm glad you got it fixed. Weird that firefox has such an option enabled by default ( unless your setup made it enabled ) But if it works then
Regardless of anything Thanks to everyone who responded to my problem
Maybe if the extension stored it's data in a separate directory it wouldn't cause me so much trouble
I also managed to fix the Firefox updater stuck in the "another instance is updating" by deleting update folder in C:/ProgramData/
it started doing it again... i have only history clear set up right now but every now and then the extension logo keeps disappearing. Sometimes refresh helpsa, sometimes not and i have to go through onboarding
