Hello, I have been getting this bug for the last few days.
I enter the chat and I receive the usual "Welcome to the chat room!" .
But right after that message the chat restarts, clean previous messages it just showed from chat history and shows again "Welcome to the chat room!"

Other issue I tested is that I can type the same emote 2 different times, meaning that the "Bypass Duplicate Message Check" option works.
However once the chat loads again with that message, trying the same thing leaves me with the "Your message was not sent because it is identical to the previous one you sent, less than 30 seconds ago."
I can't also use "Up Key" to go back to my previous message, it shows no history of it.

I have tried "/refresh" option in chat, remove and add back 7TV and restart Google Chrome.
Using 3.0.15.1000 nightly version.

What browser are you usiing?

#

For me it works fine. I don't understand why it won't work for you

untold jungle
#

I'm using google chrome on Windows

#

Today so far hasn't happen but will update if it starts again

untold jungle
#

Just started getting it again
I only have one stream open and so far happened 3 times, all of a sudden chat disappears and refreshes with that message showing.
I reset chrome and when trying to type the same emote twice it popped up the option of "Would you like to bypass..." from 7TV which I clicked as Yes (popped up because of the reset which cleaned previous settings). I then tried to send and got the "Your message was not sent because it is identical to the previous one you sent, less than 30 seconds ago."

same for me on brave, when I refresh twitch it loads up chat and then reloads it for some reason for second time

void ether
#

Twitch for some reason made their chat reload twice. ,For no specific reasons. This breaks 7tv and almost any other extention that interacts with chat

#

But currently testing 7TV Nightly on Brave and it works fine

untold jungle
void ether
#

Ok can you try and clear 7tv db?

untold jungle
#

I will keep an eye if this triggers but on the first 3 minutes nothing

void ether
#

Lemme know if you face the issue gaian

#

pretty odd no joke

@winged vigil help me, I'm in opera right now and have this open, exactly what i nee to delete?

winged vigil
#

if you want to reset db, type what I said in the console

#

there should be input box below

radiant notch
#

but where I type?

winged vigil
radiant notch
#

perfect

#

now i see this

#

@winged vigil how to close Indexed?

winged vigil
#

you removed it, f5 and it will be recreated

radiant notch
#

ok, I see now

#

Ok, for now work

untold jungle
#

I decided to remove extension, run same command
Opened chrome, installed Nightly, imported previous 7TV settings which allow to bypass message
This was the result:

void ether
#

Go there and try typing anything. then try out the feature

untold jungle
void ether
#

Will be waiting

untold jungle
void ether
#

But if you look here

#

7TV uses the right thing

untold jungle
void ether
#

( The white square is the invicible character )

#

I'm pretty sure it's something with Twitch IRC

untold jungle
#

So then let me ask, do you still get the messages despite this warning

void ether
#

I see the issue

untold jungle
#

Or you never get them?

void ether
#

hold on

#

This caused the issue

#

I think they might have changed their interval check on how fast a message can be sent Hmm

untold jungle
#

I just spammed without breaks

#

And all went to your chat without warning

void ether
#

So what happend there is that. You sent the normal Stare without the charatcer. But then 7tv now will use with character cuz you already used without ( that's how it works ) But Twitch will say it's the same message

#

I guess I can increase the interval a bit more on extention

#

That way " too quickly " error doesn't come up by twitch Hmm

untold jungle
#

I tried on a stream, 5 second break between same message, no issues

#

However now I got the issue of the second "Welcome to the chat room!"

#

And now it doesn't allow me to type same messages

#

Same message, 5 second break between same message (after second welcome to chat message), I got the twitch warning.

void ether
untold jungle
void ether
#

Twitch reloads chat after like 5-10 seconds when the page is loaded

#

Which resets the chat view

#

I don't know why they do that yet. But I hope they fix it soon

untold jungle
#

I reopened the stream and I got this immediately
Sometimes takes time, sometimes its immediate

#

And sometimes the chat loads, goes blank and reopens

void ether
#

Yet again. this is the same issue by Twitch

untold jungle
#

Which happened right now OMEGALUL

void ether
#

It happens to everyone

untold jungle
#

Oh well, unlucky but at least I know it's not from 7TV side

void ether
#

Even with extention off. The chat for some reason wil reload after 5 seconds of load

untold jungle
#

Hmm But if 7tv sends a different message because of that invisible character

#

Shouldnt it always work even if it reloads chat?

void ether
#

No

#

Because when Twitch reloads the chat. 7TV Injection also reloads. Which resets the "memory" of if the last msg had the invis character or not

#

Idk how to explain it Pfftt

untold jungle
#

I get it don't worry, basically 7TV doesn't have a memory of a previous message
So it just sends the message without the invisible character

#

Being stuck on the same message

void ether
#

7tv doens't have a memory of the last sent msg. But it just knows ( oh last msg was sent with invis, so let's remove it with this one ) And so on

#

ping-pong

untold jungle
#

forsenAlright But what if I type a new different message, which gets saved on this new memory
Then it should now be saved and allow next message to be sent to bypass

void ether
#

So if you sent buh when the chat just loaded. 7tv will send it without invis. But when Twitch reloads their chat. 7tv extention also reloads the injection. Then when you send buh agian. It'll also not have invis cuz it doens't know that injection reloaded. Basically states and variables reset

void ether
#

So after twitch reload

#

if you type buh twice or however times it should work

#

Only issue is that seems that twitch changed their "too quickly " trigger. Meaning I'll have to look into increasing the spam interval maybe

untold jungle
#

It also seems to not trigger in offline chats even if those are active

#

At least from me moving around

void ether
#

Trigger as in the reload ?

#

Yes

#

it doesn't reload in offline chats

#

Idk why but Twitch did something with their chat component to reload after x interval of time. Idk why. but 4Shrug

#

it might be fixed sometime soon I'm sure of that

untold jungle
#

Yeah I tried Stare twice, got the reload just now
I then typed " vibE " once, waited 15 seconds, typed again and got same warning

#

Twich trying to cancel 7TV bypass forsenDespair

void ether
#

But from the test we did

#

It works fine

untold jungle
#

Now I typed a message, closed and reopen chrome
Entered chat, got immediate 2 messages of "Welcome to the chat room!"
Typed same message and got warning
Then all of a sudden chat went blank, appeared again with a new "Welcome to the chat!" but it deleted from my chat the previous 2 welcome messages
Typed same message and got warning

#

Oh well, thanks for all the time and help ftk789 hug
I hope Twitch either rollsback or you guys find a wayaround Okayeg

void ether
#

It's just 7tv

#

After reload i think it shouljd work fine with another msg

void ether
untold jungle
void ether
#

THat's the thing

#

it happens as soon as you caht

#

for some reason

#

So if you say anything

#

then make it reload

#

then do the spam thing. It should work fine with anothenr msg

untold jungle
void ether
#

holup lemme test it out

#

Idk why but it works for me

#

i get the warning yes

#

But it doens't bother since I only get it once

#

then it keeps going normally

#

Works perfectly fine for me thinking

untold jungle
#

Typed Stare -> Welcome to the chat room! -> Welcome to the chat room! -> Typed Stare before 30 seconds and didn't work -> Weird chat clear, got it reloaded and it doesnt show previous 2 welcome messages -> Typed Stare and same warning -> Changed to PagMan and typed it -> Type again PagMan after 15 seconds and got warning -> Spammed it and still got warning

void ether
#

15 seconds?

#

You have to wait 30 seconds

untold jungle
#

Opening my username by clicking my name shows this:

void ether
#

Wait so it worked?

#

it works but you still get the error

#

?

untold jungle
#

Could be the issue

void ether
#

Well that's Twitch looks like

untold jungle
#

I'm gonna open a incognito page, open same stream and check if I see it

void ether
#

good test

untold jungle
#

First image: Clicking my username after trying to spam same emote (different from one before reload).
Second image: Chat when I tried to spam emote
Third image: Incognito mode

#

It seems it doesn't work from my view of chat or others but clicking my username it still stores that I typed such messages

#

I can't really verify if it indeed stores my messages on the logs because only way was to be a moderator and they already can spam same message without the warning

void ether
#

Well moderators never get the warning regardless

#

And VIP's

#

But looks like twitch issue?

#

Since that msg get's sent by twitch

untold jungle
#

So tldr: Twitch is being donk and doesn't allow us to bypass the warning for same messages

void ether
#

I think so

#

But I'll keep testing around and see if there's a solution WE can do. or we just have to wait Pfftt

untold jungle
#

Yeah I opened a stream where I am a moderator

#

And so far no reload at all

void ether
#

yea it works fine right?

#

It's an odd thing I don't understand

untold jungle
#

I spammed a bit just trying to trigger something and nothing

void ether
#

Twitch is doing lots of uipdates including the new eventAPI as well

#

So idk what they are doing specifically

untold jungle
#

Weird question but can you try using a different invisible emote?

#

What if Twitch found a way to ignore this invisible emote from a message and then tests if the 2 messages are the same

#

They could in theory have a memory of our last message (on a same way like 7TV? ) and when you type a new message they verify through their code if it includes that same invisible emote
Which if it does, it triggers their warning and doesn't send the message

void ether
#

Not sure though

void ether
#

Cuz as you can tell. it works fine if you do it slowly

#

It'll do the bypass

#

But on spam something goes odd for no reason

#

And that's what i'm trying to do

untold jungle
#

I mean it happened even with some delay between messages on my side

void ether
#

As a mod Pfftt

untold jungle
void ether
#

It's just twitch

untold jungle
#

I feel maybe we could verify if Twitch keeps a memory of our last message or if it does any check for that invisible emote Hmm
And from then 7TV could try to have a workaround for it

void ether
#

hold on

#

Still get the same error

untold jungle
void ether
#

I'll look more into this with intervals and play around more

untold jungle
#

If you need me to do any testing or something feel free to message me here
And thanks for all the help and support hug

void ether
#

I will 100%

any fixes? forsenAlright

void ether
#

Twitch

#

they need to fix the chat refresh thing they have.

  • the refreshing chat been happening my chrome browser as well for the past week or so
  • i tried on firefox too, the same reloading interface happens there
  • so its not browser related
  • so it must be a site issue
  • something on twitch is reloading the entire chat related interface
  • the forced refresh of the chatting interface is also killing my settings and configurations in my extension
  • this wasn't an issue weeks ago
  • some change to the site, is making chat and related extensions reload a layer reverting chat and video player to a state before the extensions enhancements
  • the only way i have been able to alleviate the reloading bug temporarily is to right after loading the stream i desire to watch, is to click an unrelated page on twitch to load after the bugged chat refresh happens, then quickly navigate button to the previous page i wanted to watch. then it will remain in the functioning desired state.
  • although i have noticed after doing the temp fix, the header page title is stuck on the previous pages name.
  • twitch devlog is being super verbose with a constantly rising number of errors:
void ether
#

It's literally not in our hands

#

They refresh it on different occasions. For me sometimes it refreshes 4 times

#

I'm still investigating if we are the cause or not. They also refresh without our extention being active. But I'll look for a solution for this

#

Temporary solution that is.

untold jungle
#

@void ether any update regarding not bypassing duplicate message? Okayeg

void ether

Nope
