#Unable to remove emotes from sets
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I'm pretty sure this is not a bug. Can you show me the set you're trying to remove the emote from?
what i noticed is that it wont let you rename it
and if you renamed it previously it wont let you remove it
until you match the name first
@low verge
it doesnt recognize it as the same emote if its aliased
thats also an issue when you just want to rename already aliased emote
it doesnt show its enabled
That's because you can add emotes multiple times under different names

not sure what to do in this case
like maybe displaying every aliased version in this set preview
and letting you remove them separately
or keeping the default action like it was on the old website and making adding multiple aliases a separate thing
i didnt expect this feature being added thats why i never thought about designing it
yeah it's kindof a byproduct of our new backend
I could rework the dialog and just act like it's not a feature
So it would work like the old site

clicking the top checkmark would remove them all
yeah that's good I guess
back to rewriting the most complicated dialog in the whole frontend
yeah probably not
i dont see it as a huge issue atm
Ok well I can either fix this or work on mod tools
multiple aliases for the same emote in the same set? or in different sets?
same set
its was there since the new backend
but there was no ui for that on the old site
but you could do this through api

well,
I deeply wish there will be some kind of changelog one day that will list all these changes and new features following both migrations of october and december
i dont think there was much change feature wise
at least the ones affecting regular users
it was mostly done to make it more expandable in the future and rewritten in rust instead
the only other change i can think of is making the cosmetics be tied to the subscription time and role
rather than manually assigning the cosmetics
additionally i think maybe adding new emote branches should be a separate feature not a default one
so everything by default would work just like the old website
but you have an extra option to add an additional alias
@low verge sorry for delay of reply, this is the set https://7tv.app/emote-sets/01FMG11APR000D6HG894PC6HJD
had to remove emotes with the old.7tv site
it all good, read above its explained why its happening
๐ thanks, it being fixed/been fixed? ngl the stuff you guys mentioned makes 0 sense to me
we are figuring different solutions to that
its just a byproduct of being able to add an emote under different aliases simultaneously to the same set at once
so to remove an aliased emote you have to either enter the original alias here first
or remove it manually from the emote page
.
i have this emote renamed to "test" in my emote set @lament glacier
the website shows the original name by default and it just doesnt look like its enabled since it gives you an option to add it under a new alias simultaneously
and in your case your set is already full
so it doesnt even let you check it
under the default name
ah okay i think i understand now
@plucky flint while your here i have another question, i asked troy on one of his streams but he didnt know anything about it
did the new api make it so twitch emotes are prioritised over 7tv?
nah it was never meant to do so
thanks for the help :)
what I meant was, what's the point of putting out changes and small new features like that if barely anyone (compared to the majority of users of the website) is aware that it exists, because it wasn't listed anywhere when the migration happened?
this reminds me of the fact that now since the backend migration, you can name emotes with only 1 character which is something new, and this wasn't listed anywhere either, I found out about it randomly in chat
well yeah
i guess it wasnt included
there was only one announcement about the new backend in #news
exactly, and it looked like a temporary changelog that obviously didn't list everything that changed, including that 1 character stuff
and it was even worse for the new website migration, which ig is supposed to be one of the biggest things happening here in years, and it only had a small 3 rows message as announcement
anyway, personally not having any changelog sucks.
at least i can read the repo commits
yeah
i guess we need a changelog on the website directly
there was supposed to be a news page on the website but it was postponed
here is what i came up with as a compromise between the old website functionality and the new feature of adding emote branches @low verge
not sure if it makes sense

probably too complicated
as i said not really a thing for now
but rather asking if this system makes sense
that would be a thing for someone else to figure out
branches are such a niche feature it would be best to just leave it as it was on the old website for now/ like it is on the current website
cause there are other important things atm
Yeah I will start to implement mod tools first
and dont forget the emote capacity slider thats also pretty important
why not using just a field for all the aliases? instead of multiple checkboxes
like separated by a comma or something

i was certain 7tv took prio
