how can I upload a new version, do I need to wait for it to be approved?

unlisted usually means that you need to wait for a mod to approve it, yes.
you can change the setting in the extension to let you see unlisted emotes

emote versions got removed this week during the maintenance, so w/e you wanna upload, you can just go ahead
