can i add multiple sets at once or should i make a new set and use the origin feature and combine the two?

silk ice
#

origins feature is currently very buggy and we do not recommend using it until new api is released, it can end up with your sets being corrupted and having to be re-done from scratch

hollow siren
#

oof. ok. am i able to add multiple sets at once? (holiday plus base)

hollow siren
#

i am ideally hoping to avoid the hours it would take to make a new set from scratch. being able to add multiple sets at once would make life easier

if you're thinking of a way of "merging" them then it's not a thing

#

just to clarify, origin should work fine once again when update to 7tv backend is deployed but unfortunately there is no specific ETA on that

#

you can try to use origin but I would still encourage you to start with a brand new set that you are okay with losing if it gets corrupted

hollow siren
#

ya. thats what im saying. if it works to add both the holiday set and the base set to be active at the same time. or if we are only allowed to have one active set at a time

silk ice
#

you can have one active set at a time yes

#

but origin is kind of a subset

#

if I remember correctly the way it works is that origin contains the holiday variants which are "fed" to the set that has origin set to it, so the origin set is not active per se

#

and maybe I shouldn't actually say active, because all sets are technically active - I mean assigned to a channel

hollow siren
#

i hear your origin worries, it worries me too. creating a new set and using origin to pull from others is simple enough, but my main worry would be corrupting the original sets. seperate from the new origin merged set

#

if this makes sense. i dont want to mess up original sets. the new holiday origin merged one would really only be temporary anyway

silk ice
#

well if you do it like this it wouldnt get corrupted

oh I didn't know this was still a buggy feature GULP

someone said it was fixed oopsie this is terrible news

silk ice
#

1 - your original set you want to keep and not corrupt it
2 - new set you could make from scratch (unfortunately it would have to be manual work)
3 - origin set that you would link to set 2

#

if you want to try to use origin this is the safest way to do it

#

as long as you do not enable origin on set 1 youre fine

hollow siren
#

ya so if im understanding correctly, create a new set and use origin to pull other sets to new set. which is fine. the feature is simple enough to use. but again, my main worry.. you saying its buggy. in a worst case scenario, would the new set be the only one impacted? or would it put the original (seperate) set at risk too?

mystic topaz
#

worst case scenario, the set that pull emotes from another set will have "UnknownEmote"(s) in the set, which cant be remove and take up slots, so the only fix is to delete the whole set

#

wrong emote names between emotes is another bug

hollow siren
#

so any issue would be secluded to the new (origin) set?
and the original set is not at risk?

silk ice
mystic topaz
#

yeah, afaik only the set that applied origin will be bugged

silk ice
#

so if you dont do it on your main set you should be fine

silk ice
#

I hate the name of this feature with passion tbh

fathom narwhal
#

what if you already did do that GULP

silk ice
fathom narwhal
#

So just add all emotes in new set then add festive ones in it?

#

terrible fix if so Aware

mystic topaz
#

the set that applied origin/pull emotes

silk ice
#

I know it's not ideal but we've seen some major issues with it

#

like ghost emotes taking up slots in a set with no way to remove them

silk ice
#

unless you have an alt

mystic topaz
#

forsenAlright origin should be a banned word so nobody uses/knows it
