Hello there!
I uploaded an emote in various looks, one of them got accepted: https://7tv.app/emotes/65e22076ee4941288d8557db
the others were removed.
I also updated this emote with a newer version which also got removed (the version I attached here below).
My question is: Why was it deleted? Does it brake any rules I am not aware of?
#Reason of emote-deletion?

Hey @sand jay 👋
7TV is not meant to be a political platform or forum, just like twitch is not intended to have a focus on that. There are other platforms for that.
To be fair - It is okay to talk about politics when it comes to educational content. But, emotes like that can potentially lead to chat wars or political discussions.
In that exact case it might have been some over-moderation from my side, the deletion might have been a little bit to much.
As i saw you uploading the emote again i will simply delete the one you uploaded earlier, and unlist the one that you now uploaded.
So it won't show up on searching, but people who have the emote link can still add and use it on their channel
This rule makes no sense.
If you don't want politics why are there 1000s emotes of putin and trump etc.?
Or in our german case Gigachat AFD emotes?
I don't really understand this "rule" either.
The policy for emotes to upload is quite simple - as for the one I found for 7tv (in the faq):
Which content is not allowed?
Anything that could, if shown on stream, result in the streamer being suspended from Twitch.
Emotes which infringes copyright or depicts certain streamers in ways they find undesirable may be removed if requested or complaint is raised.
So - in my understanding - anything against twitch ToS is not allowed. As for political content, quite "anything" is allowed - except using monetization for contributing to a political party/candidate/... (see twitch ToS 8.e "User Content > Political Activity")
There are anti-fascism/anti-nazi/... emotes available on the platform twitch itself -> e.g. "suunFCK" (which depicts FCKNZS) on the channel "suuN".
So I doubt that this emote would be considered "ToS-unfriendly", thus breaking 7tv-rules.
When it comes to this specific topic we are not only looking after the twitch TOS, but we go beyond that. Again, this platform should not be misused as an political platform.
Lets clarify what I meant with my wording.
There can be a discourse, but we do not want to encourage people to have to feel like taking sides. By that i mean emotes that are clearly polarizing and for political use soley, not with the intention of creating an emote.
We do not have set rules for that, we have guidelines and an moderation-team that exchanges about critical emotes.
When it comes to other emotes like Trump or Putin or any other politician, we only allow emotes that are not focussing on politics and are somewhat a meme.
Your objections make sense and are also be taken into account.
The AfD emotes you talked about were approved some time ago by another moderator so I wasn't aware of them, thanks for pointing that out. They are now deleted.
Our guidelines are not perfect and we are currently reworking and updating them in order to include every possible topic we might come across.
Okay, I really have to get this off my chest.
This is somewhat kind of like "I don't want politics and just fun"
Well it's our kind of fun to show fascism we don't like them.
It's not just, it's very important to us.
I see no harm with those emotes. Noone is forced to use them.
And saying "It's not in the guidelines jet but it's not allowed" is utterly crab.
How the hell should anybody know it's not allowed?
Saying "we do not have set rules for that, we have guidelines and a moderation team that exchanges about critical emotes" reads like pure luck if an emote gets approved by a mod or not.
But the worst was "this are now deleted"
This made me really angry.
I mean for real? Are you kidding me?
It was already approved for months and nobody took any actions.
And suddenly because you just saw it it gets deleted because for whatever reason making a political statement is bad.
It kind of saddens me in general when I hear "this is not political".
If tolerance and equality are something you support, you can't be apolitical in this world.
Platforms hold immense power in today's world. Remaining neutral in the face of fascism is not really an option these days. Especially when looking at current events happening in germany and also europe. By taking a political stance against fascism, you uphold values of tolerance and justice, prevent the spread of hate speech and create safer spaces for all. I don't find this to be a choice, but moral imperative.
I mean you approved a fckafd emote two weeks ago and it's still online.
So why the recent change?
Can we get some higher up to chime in here?
Thanks for approving the emote
yeah thanks a lot! This topic is resolved for me then.
@pale swallow @sand jay Hey! apologies on the late response here, but from what I see here is that there was a bit of confusion on the moderation side on what the context was of said emote and we want to formally apologize for this and we do now see what the context of what the emote is entailed to be. This emote should not have been deleted and it also should not have to be unlisted as well.
I did of course go ahead and manually approved the one that darkvolpe has reuploaded, apologies again for the confusion on our end, if you have any other questions either relating to this or any other off topic questions, please don't be afraid to dm me either on discord or twitter, you can also dm @candid walrus as well on discord.
Thanks Lipton
👍
thanks for the explanation
Of course! If you ever come to a emote like afd emotes, feel free to use our tools like the help threads and/or the report button on the website if you come across more issues in the future.
