This emote: https://7tv.app/emotes/60af1023a564afa26edf687c could be added to any channel some time ago - but now it cant be added anymore. If I try to add it I get the error "bad name". I think there is a problem with adding emotes that have a very short name. I tested to add another emote with a short name: https://7tv.app/emotes/627ed08a089a7ee78fdb7a6f and I got the same error "bad name". (Environment: Windows 10, Firefox)

For emote names, it can contains:
a-z, A-Z, 0-9
:-_() but only if used with other characters im pretty sure
minimum 2 characters
About why the listed emote can have single character as name, they probably renamed it afterwards
yeah I know about the usual min 2 characters, but the thing is, the "." emote actually is added to some channels with the original name "."
Dunno
Probably was an exploit that got patched
They were uploaded in 2021 and 2022
So yeah
or was it allowed to upload emotes with one character at that time?
yes
I believe there was a point in time where you could upload and add emotes with single characters
but when they changed the rules they didn't just remove the emotes and all the channels they were in
(likely because that would've been harder)
No there wasnt
it was an exploit
you could bypass the name checking entirely
if you uploaded the file in a certain way
but as such, these emotes are entirely invalid because the current system doesn't care about the name of the emote per say
it just cares about the name the channel has the emote added as
which by default is the name of the emote
so it wont let you add it unless you alias it as something else
... -> Custom Name -> enter -> add
what ever
remember this emote
https://7tv.app/emotes/611934f54a20425cff0638d0
dont actually add it
cant be removed from your emote set
