I'm suggesting that once you click to open the 7tv emote menu, that you are immediately placed into the chatbox so that you can start typing/searching for an emote right away instead of having to click the 7tv logo, then click the chatbox, then start typing. The extra click makes the process feel much less smooth, I often start typing and am accidentally muting the stream or going fullscreen on accident.

I assume this is with the Emote Menu: Live Input Search option turned on. When this option is turned off you can immediately start typing into the search box at the top.
While the Live Input Search option is on, I agree that clicking the 7tv emote menu button should immediately let you start typing in the chatbox to perform a search.

Even with Emote Menu: Live Input turned off, I cannot immediately start typing. I have to then click on the search bar to start typing.

Strange. I just tested again and as soon as I click the 7tv emote menu button I can start typing into the search bar at the top. I'm using Firefox. What browser are you using?
