I know we can disable the whole theme on top right but it will disable everything.
Please consider adding a button to disable the fog effect only for better performance.
I blocked the fog by adding 7tv.app##.fog-area in an adblocker and saved around 20% of CPU usage

And Anatole was worried 3x emote previews were too much of a preformance hit

anatole: no, i will make emote card previews smaller. surely that is the cause of the loss in preformance
shush
🤫
yeah I'd prefer this over pixelating the emotes
yeah
And they all use the same image (I supplied 2 different fog images to use as layers)
the images are webp and only like 100 kb
do browsers like decompress images to ram to display them?
yes
otherwise you'd need to spend a lot of time decompressing every frame
also 6-8ms avg time to render a frame
sound fine to me
i know about this, it seems that browsers are very inefficient at animating things in general
especially large bitmaps
it'll probably need to be re-rendered to make sure it's still seamless though, as opposed to just resizing the image
@flint spade is the 3rd layer intentional?
i'm gonna reduce the intensity
3rd layer looks like a duplicate of the 2nd
like more transparent?
@flint spade
256x256
it might not be needed
but i'll see if that reduces it further
i got the load down pretty low now i think
nice
are fog2 and fog3 gonna be animating at different speeds now? Or will there just be 2 layers?
i lowered it to 1 layer

the smaller file also helps a little in reducing load
and doesn't look worse really

ppl are gonna keep asking
yeah people want 2 layers moving at different speeds
instead of the weird brightness changes
trust me. I took a poll in my local community
trust me bro
idgaf about the layers
it's the emote quality that needs to be addressed so we don't get 14 people an hour asking about it
its the emote showcase, the best quality has to be shown there

down to 10% of my cpu now
it's still going to be more than default theme but hopefully not bitcoin miner levels now
i tried to make it use gpu rendering when possible as well
yes
yea it's better now, half the time taken
Who turns that off?
will get through them later this month once my work on the extension is further along
the fog looks like it's scaled way up, like you can't see detail anymore. Granted, there IS less detail in the smaller one, so you don't see pixels, but there should be more than I'm seeing right now
idk, that feature causes more trouble at least for me
hardware acceleration makes things perform better every time you change it
whether you're turning it off, or on
stuff performs better after you change it

it's purely perceptual though
add back the bitcoin miner pls

I was wondering why they looked like poopoo
i hecking love css https://ii.zzls.xyz/HHCIBQI.gif

Add an option to disable animation on emote preview
Every time I go on the featured page my PC literally gets laggy
yeah because it loads all the emotes in that featured set
I know
That's why you can add an option to load them as static and then if you go to the emote page it'll be animated
Maybe add some sort of icon to the preview to show that the emote is animated
Only animate on hover would be better imo
to make them static, the site now has to process every emotes again to split 1 frame?
set a limit like Emotes site could help, 50 emotes/page
or depend on your screen size/zoom
they're already processed
oh
All previews would just use the . Pngs
intel users be like
