#be able to have spaces in your emote name

gachiPls Anyways, um... I bought a whole bunch of shungite rocks, do you know what shungite is? Anybody know what shungite is? No, not Suge Knight, I think he's locked up in prison. I'm talkin' shungite. Anyways, it's a two billion year-old like, rock stone that protects against frequencies and unwanted frequencies that may be traveling in the air. That's my story, I bought a whole bunch of stuff. Put 'em around the la casa. Little pyramids, stuff like that.
Very trueing
I can’t type these gosh darn imposter letters
add all the Chinese characters
Still needs mods approval
So it's even more work for mods
But if you use a different language then what's stopping you from writing bad stuff as your alias
Honestly no idea, probably only the actual twitch chat moderation preventing you from typing that
more characters? u need an emote name longer than 100? 😭 jfc
just NameItLikeThis or Maybe_Like_This Even-Like-That for spaces
we don't take responsibility for what people put as aliases, their problem if they get banned for typing bad stuff in twitch chat

it can be reported though
normies can think that this is how it's called on 7tv though
not with the new UI
not only normies, but casual 7tv users
it's not really possible to mistake aliases for actual names on the new site
maybe with the extension, but then when the user goes to report the emote they'd realize it's not actually named that way
imagine if someone uses the 7tv emote menu, clicks an emote, and sends it without first looking too carefully at its name
could get people banned
i mean thats why there is (going to be, i think the ui isnt done yet) a report option on users
I don't foresee that being a big problem, but it could happen. Only the most troll streamer would do such a thing; getting their viewers banned
moderating aliases would be too much, but we will probably add a rule against inappropriate aliases making it a reportable offense
I think that solution will work

since u can literally just make wide emotes, no it shouldnt
or if you want to make an emote with spaces, just separate it into multiple emotes
like the 4 emotes above
how does 1 wide emote look clunkier than 4 parts of it?
the entire emote would only be 512x128, well under 7tvs dimensions
bro what
i ask myself that about people who make those 100-part emotes
why dont they just
lessen the amount by 3x
by making them wide

can we please make it so "this is funny" (with spaces) turns into a 100 part emote
also i should probably speak about the one thing this thread is suggesting
it's not possible
adding that to the 7tv april fools list
technically speaking
at least not without requiring all platforms to change their emote parsing code, as afaik it's all expected that one emote can be only be separated by two spaces
I don't think it's possible to have spaces in emotes at least for chatterino (unless you rewrite the entire parsing), since it splits the message by ' ' and then looks up the emotes of the words.
so basically what anatole said
underscores or dashes maybe?
underscores and dashes are already allowed in emote names
i did already suggest that guys!
theyre complaining about something else
dashes arent good enough!
basically this post went off topic and i wanted to actually address the original idea
tabbing an emote name isnt as funny as typing out an entire sentence and have it turn into a picture!
any utf-8 character other than ' ' should work though but it's probably not desired
(i am making fun of you
)
naaawww
we have extremely differing opinions of convenient
