You would have to be very careful on how to add this, in other games. if done poorly, it becomes a very hated weapon. This could be nice, but if the game is going for more fast-paced gameplay I don't think they should add this.
hm what about recoil
you can only block 1-10 shots since your shield gets pushed to the side due to it being curved
if you keeo hitting the edge the shield might be pushed into the other direction
Then, why would you use it if someone shoots you for a few seconds then you're vulnerable again.
just think of ways to counter it, such as explosions knocking it out of your hands or damaging it or destroying it completely
its fine having things that other games hate, we just need to think of realistic ways to add viable counters to them

In vr games generally shields can be much more op because I can still grab a pistol with my second hand
Unless when you hold the shield with one hand it gets knocked around a bunch but when you hold it with two hands it's fine
That would negate the self defense factor of a shield making it more of a tool to check rooms (and so the teammate with it)
Hm so the op thing about them will then be being able to blind fire while still seeing through that gap?
Hm maybe not a ballistic shield then; eventually it should break down under sustained fire

ready or not did this very well by making the damage on the shield hamper the view of the glass on the shield
Nah I mean being able to return damage while taking none is the main op factor of shields. Even if they don't have a weapon by default usually you can pull out your main weapon while the enemy is reloading (on flat screen). Another thing is the limitation or rather lack of it that vr gives you with weapons and using them in one hand that means if you have a transparent shield you can use your sights on your pistol anyways
maybe the little glass plastic bit is see through but weaker/weak point
