#Concept for a potential gamemode I thought of

This concept is something I've been constructing in my head over the last few days. It is heavily inspired by the show "silo" and by the metro series. with some inspiration taken from horizon zero dawn. It would play out similar to a tarkov style game in terms of looting, however with a focus on PVE rather than pvp. and by "PVE" I am literally referring more to the environment rather than AI enemies. (Although AI enemies are not out of the question)

*And it goes without saying that I lack the coding knowledge to ever attempt a project like this single-handedly. I am more interested in the level design aspect, which is what I'm most familiar with. *

The setting:
The player (as a human) has woken up from cryogenic sleep inside a bunker far below the surface, With the surface above being a barren grey wasteland with zero life. (imagine mars but with ruins and grey instead of red). They are now tasked with managing and ensuring the upkeep of the facility.

Only a small portion of the bunker would be available to the player. A room with only essentials. several computers, a generator, a crafting surface and somewhere to access the facility's storage.

What the player has at their disposal in this room is not enough to maintain upkeep. They will need to scavenge resources from outside the bunker. This would be achieved by taking control of a humanoid robot which would be used for resource collecting and outside maintenance on the facility. The reason the player is unable to go outside the bunker themselves is that the surface is too toxic for them to walk on, even with a suit.

The Robot:
The player would take control of this robot from one of the computer terminals. This would have the player actually play as the robot (with a animated dummy taking their place in the bunker if this was multiplayer)

Almost every aspect of this robot's body would be damagable, taking full advantage of beyond sandbox's body damage system (and hopefully expanding on it). As these body elements receive damage or are fully removed, the player will have to adapt and control the robot in different ways.

Limbs:
• Should they lose one of their arms, the player can have the other arm decouple and connect to the other side if they want to.

• If one or both legs are lost, the player can use their arms as a means of dragging themselves along, until they either return to their bunker or construct temporary replacements.

• If all limbs are neutralised, and the player (as a robot) has zero means of transporting themselves, then the robot will start a 3 minute countdown before it enters hibernation mode or the option to hibernate now. After entering hibernation mode, the player can retrieve the remnants of the previous robot with a new robot and salvage them at the bunker.

torso:
•This is the most important component of the robot, as this is where all the important components are located. Destruction of the torso is the only way the player (as a robot) can be fully killed.

•The ears of the robot would also be located on its torso. I haven't envisioned making it possible for the robot to lose its hearing, as I dont think this would be fun for the player.

•Backup sonar that will be put into use should the robot's eyes become compromised.

head:
•The only thing located on the robot's head are its eyes, with the head itself just being a mount for the eyes.

•The player (as the robot) will need to occasionally wipe off moisture from the lenses of the robots eyes / cameras. (similar mechanic to wiping off your mask in metro)

•Should one eye become compromised, then it could maybe be possible for half the screen to be black? Or possibly some other effect. I'm not too certain on this atm.

•should BOTH eyes become compromised, or if the robot’s entire head is removed, then the player will be blind. Having to resort to their backup sonar located in their torso.
perhaps you could even collect your severed head and bring it back as scrap lol

Battery:
•The robot's batteries are located in its torso.

•If the robot's charge falls to 3%, then it will immediately enter hibernation mode, and will need to be retrieved by another robot.

•The player (as the robot) is able to remove / replace their own batteries, however be careful to only replace one at a time or you will immediately enter hibernation mode.

Self repair:
•The player (as the robot) would have a menu for performing certain self repairs. Such as creating makeshift leg replacements using metal pipes, or using a portable welder stored in their torso.

Upgrading the robot:
•not something of thought of much, but I think it would be cool if resources that have been brought back to the bunker could also be used to upgrade elements of the robots body.

Carrying loot
•Also something I've not thought about much. I guess the robot would just have a rucksack or something.
