if instead of a circle getting bigger it used physics to instead have blood trail down a wall or down somebody's leg. this has been done several times in video games but only some have really done it right one of those games in called overgrowth created by wolf fire games. they thankfully made lots of documentation on how they did it here is their first example of blood dripping on character entitys this can work well with other suggestions that people have made like heavy artery bleeds and dismemberment this can also pair very well for reactions with the active ragdoll system making reactions to hits way more fluid. It would hinder performance quite a bit depending on the amount of players, would need a setting to choose how much blood would show and would prob need to be defaulted to off because of headset's performance but would be a neat thing to have for the cloth around a wound

The thing with this is performance stuff and ik you talked about it with settings for that but i think just particles would be best with a slight splatter. Like vails gore sort of but also with wall splatters and stabs like blade and sorcery

im pretty sure this would need to be coded in the base game galaxy high marshal the developer started off by making mods but could not make it to this level until he became a vfx artist towards halfsword thats a good example why i think it should be coded in the base game

Ah yes, me liking games looking good over performance is me not knowing what I'm talking about. If vrs main purpose is to "imerse people" then why would you not want stuff to look realistic and good overall. No one plays VR chat, for example, for the performance. Of course it's not a pvp but unless this game has pro snd or some sort of pro pvp mode it won't matter as much. I think to "immerse people" you want your game to look good. I see what your saying, I get it, it is quite annoying when your trying to pvp and you have lag spikes. But I think that's the trade off you must have if you want a good looking game. That's why I said in my opinion I wasn't trying to cause a argument but yet you continue to debate. Let's just agree to disagree because I don't want to have a debate on something that I'm only a consumer in. Maybe that's why I don't understand your pov that much. But if your product looks trash then idk why anyone would want to play it.

And like the dude said, blood should be able to be supported on meta quest (idk about quest 2.) but I've seen gory things run well on quest three because I have one. Particles should have no issue either unless the devs let you spam them.

And meta quest is what I would assume you'd think is a low end headset.

yeah performance does matter but you can definitely optimize these blood effects you can get rid of pbr's and compress it or maybe just compress it

i think they could be done as a spawnable decal actor(the spreading effect could be a material) that spawns in the same line as the bullet but with limited distance and if there is no wall in that distance it would create a spreading decal on the ground the dameged entity is standing on

Valve isn't a company I'm really interested in rn. Mainly because I'm a console gamer so I didn't know that either. The only games I know of by them even is half life, gmod, cs, and tf2. I have seen some of there tech demos to like there VR headsets. They are really cool! Id like to see counter strike 2 VR being a thing though tbh.
