#go eat worms!

will I still love this book if it turns into a worm?
Chapter 1
|| Todds fascination/hyper fixation on worms is cool. If it was just that. But it sounds really mean that he scares other people with those worms. Both for the humans he scares and also for the worms, that has to be so much stress. Great scientist. He should have learned how incredibly important they are for ecosystems and that they should stay in the ground. Aaaaanyway :D interesting that this is a book that seems to be from the perspective of the "little pest that pranks everyone", and not from the one being pranked. ||
Chapter 6
|| urrrrgh Todd is really an unlikeable MC. Again, not especially the fascination with worms. Not my thing but idk, if he likes them, whatever. But his sister is nice to him and what does he do? Gross her out. Wow. ||
Chapter 12
|| ohh I guess we will get mutated worms?
tbh I think Todd sabotaging Reginas project is worse than Regina sending them to the wrong address. tbf the dog could have been dangerous but idk if she knew it was even there. ||
Chapter 13
|| I kinda want the worms to take revenge. wtf Todd, if you are that into science you should know that these kind of worms dont turn into two worms when you cut them in half, they just die||
finished
|| the end of this was pretty disappointing.
I liked how disgusting most of the book was, in a weird way. Had a visceral reaction to the bathroom scene and the sandwich scene. Ewwww.
But overall, I didnt like the ending. The huge worm appearing was fine. But it felt like the book was hinting at a "mutated worms taking revenge" plotline, with the science fair and the worms falling into some weird chemicals. But then it was Regina all along? And Patricks role felt so underutilized, he could have been written out and it wouldnt matter all that much.
and poor butterflies! :( I wish he had learned from that experience to leave animals alone in general. Just learn about them from afar without hurting them. But noooo.
I did like that this was a book where the MC was the one who scared others at first and got some kind of payback. But it just didnt really matter in the end. Butterflies are less disgusting than worms, sure (though both are important and I think worms are cooler haha) but I think our boy Todd needs a bigger, more general change. ||
@sly shoal I finished Go Eat Worms
Starting this!
Chap 1
||Poor worms. We already start another book with cruelty to animals? And scaring people? Not cool Todd.||
Chap 4
||Todd is so demanding. Also, why can't Patrick also do a worm project? You don't have a monopoly on worms, Todd.||
Random thought: ||I kind of wanted a few worm facts. If Todd is so interested in them, I would think he'd want to use that knowledge. Instead he scares people.||
Chap 10
||Todd is really judging other people's projects.||
Chap 12
||I wasn't expecting that project to win.
Also, Todd sabotaging Regina's project is going too far.||
Chap 13
||Dude. Not cool. Cutting worms in half is not nice at all. If the worms riot against Todd, I think he would deserve it.||
Chap 16
||A worm PB&J? đ€ą||
Chap 21
||"totally looney tunes" hahaha||
Chap 25
||Wow. Regina actually ranking Todd with the worms did surprise me a little. But, he kind of deserved it.||
Chap 27
||Now butterflies? Poor things.||
Finished!
||I enjoyed this overall. But, I was expecting more of a plot with the worms actually taking revenge. Not Regina using them to get back at Todd. (I admit that I think he deserved some kind of repercussion, though.)
Also, moving on to butterflies seems really safe after the worms. And a bit of a let down for the ending.||
@sly shoal I have finished Go Eat Worms!
Chp 1- ||Thats a pretty good-for-goosebumps opening line ngl. Even a worm will turn.
Todd would also be gettin into trouble because you KNOW teachers would be frothing at the mouth to tell him to take his hat off.
Snails are pots and worms are kettles, Todd.||
2-5 ||Stine seems really concerned weâre gonna forget that the protag is named Todd and his bestie is named Danny.
âWe donât get earthquakes in Ohio.â seems like a good spot to stop and reconsider, boys.
Beth has no reason to tell you since you were being an asshole.
There are many places better than Ohio
The ground shaking is the coming of Shai-Hulud||
6- ||Easily one of the more unlikable protagonists, but at least he isnât two-note like most are. ||
7- ||They probs didnât have their brights on, headlights are just blinding.
Nothing they said made it seem like a dump tho? But it could also be the sister sending them on a wild goose chase as payback.||
8- ||Be more concerned about why the door was unlocked.
Weird taxidermy?||
9- || ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Let me guess. The âprankâ is putting a bunch of worms inside her robin.||
10- ||Maybe if you spent less time worrying about his project, you couldâve added something to yours to make it cooler. ||
11- ||disappointing. Beth and Regina will cheer when Shai-Hulud eats Todd.
âIâm the one who likes worms!â You like terrorizing people with worms. Thereâs a difference. ||
12- ||No goddamn way Danny won.
I think Regina should get to do a Cain-and-Abel. As a treat.||
13- ||Regina youâre actively talking to him after you told him youâre not gonna talk to him. ||
14- ||Me đ€ the mom||
15-||So his parent(s) donât care that he actively sabotaged his sisterâs project??? Waaack.||
17- ||I mean. IF itâs your sister (or Beth with help from Patrick) you canât say itâs unwarranted. Not cool on the wormâs behalf tho||
20- ||A singular Star Trek
||
24- ||That was a surprisingly solid plan, for a goosebumps protagonist||
25- ||Honestly at this point youâre even. Or if you really feel the need, do a non worm scheme||
26- ||SHAI HULUD!!!!!!||
