so now my readathon tbr is Carmilla by Le Fanu, https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1323362128408871025, and https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1421433410660077678
I won't post for every book I finish but I will keep updating the TBR I shared! Hope that's okay? @potent obsidian

I really need to finish The Bewitching but I HATE IT
i fit in a quick lil story called the ones who walk away from omelas and i just love literature that was written decades ago and still holds its meaning today
Finished #1416904600778182779 !!
can't really go wrong with Le Guin, huh?
honestly, everything I've read from her has hit
yeah same, dunno what took me so long either
I honestly am glad I waited a bit before digging into her work because I have a much better grasp on politcal philosophy than I did ten years ago, which helps me get a lot more out of her books
kind of a right author, right time situation
that's an excellent point actually - i think it's more i wish i'd known about the Earthsea books as a kid as i would've loved those
oh absolutely, I only read those recently and I definitely feel like I missed out on them as a kid
i wish my niblings liked reading because i would looooove to hook them up with Earthsea
Finished my book

I liked it. I don’t usually read horror, so I can’t really compare, but this felt more like literary, emotional horror than the creepy jump out of seat kind. ||More about the loss of a relationship and the grief that comes with losing love. || I def would read from her and similar books.

It’s finally the right day! Let’s go!
(I definitely thought yesterday was the 30, so 🙃)
i finished my first book hehe!
currently on vacation til 1/1 but I managed to get some of my audiobook in this morning! Currently listening to book 3 in the Kane Chronicles, "The Serpent's Shadow"
Otherwise, the plan is to finish this BR https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1442781877412040796 and start "Tress of the Emerald Sea" for my book club mtg on 1/11
I started and almost finished the entireity of Dangerous Convenience Store 🏪 😳
This whole series is one of my favourite
Its a reread so I wholeheartedly agree
my goal for the readathon is to get through most or all of https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1415336551365476494
I don't think I can get through #1442833228762451998
I've read the first 10 chapters about three times already and I've retained nothing
I kept going back to doom scrolling on my phone and getting distracted too
At 21% of IT right now. It's a struggle to get through, not because it's boring. It's not. But the chapters are so looooooong. Usually I sprint through a book if it''s short chapters "just one more chapter if the chapter is under 10 pages." And so it continues for like 10 chapters and suddenly I'm 100 pages further. But with long chapter books I just don't have the milestone of hitting yet another chapter
Oh yeah those are def long chapters!
Don’t have a tbr planned, but here’s my progress:
My Heart is a Chainsaw
The Collector’s Apprentice
I’ll Be Waiting
TBR Readathon
- Skandar and the Unicorn Thief
- Skandar and the Phantom Rider
based
what did you play
Dredge! It's such a good Steamdeck game
omg I loooooove dredge!!!!
I'm kind of obsessed with boating around and trying to fill in my fish encyclopedia
I did manage to also read 60 pages tonight though
day 2 of readathon and i finished my second book!
my readathon tbr update
🐔 death on the nile - agatha christie
🐔 intercepts - t.j. payne
🐣 martyr! - kaveh akbar
🐔 jjk vol. 6 - gege akutami
YAAASSSS
I'm going to start Half-Blood today, it'll be my "stay at home and read til the clock strikes 12" NYE book
Maybe even my NYE kiss 😼
such a good read! and such a good idea to read until new years! might join ya with my book too
Finished Neuromancer - I appreciate that it jump started so many cool scifi concepts but man the plot is hella convoluted with some pretty generic characters
Working on Emma, slowly but surely. A little past the midpoint - I kept liking and disliking it, really feels like a rollercoaster!
Going to read until I fall asleep
I WILL finish House of Leaves tonight
🎆 New Years Readathon 🎆
✅ - The Hobbit
⏳ - The fall of Numenor
Listened to a chapter of "The Serpent's Shadow"! Hoping to get my reading done in the car ride home tomorrow
Don’t have a tbr planned, but here’s my progress:
My Heart is a Chainsaw
The Collector’s Apprentice
I’ll Be Waiting
The Unclaimed
Deep Trouble
Deep Trouble II
Bad Hare Day
I’m gonna finish his black tongue tonight
last book of 2025
Finished Emma! Oooof that was a struggle
That was surprisinglynquick
finished The last olympian - I'll start exit strategy after I sorted my storygraph stats :)
I just tried reading again, and once again fell asleep, and somehow slepped through the fact that my uncle came visiting
And I was so tired that my brain absolutely mashed names and character together, so I just googled everything I read lol
I almost finished Dangerous Convenience Store but got distracted by reading On and Off
Which I also almost finished
Putting a solid dent into Alias Grace, just made some tea and put some music on for another reading session
I finished my book last night at 11pm, squeaked in one last 2025 read
read three books today already!! :D
holy crap!
i‘m on a roll apparently
Omg????
Woah- speedy
2 more days
I read 71 pages today
idk if I can finish this book before the readathon ends but I'll try
wait- I finish tomorrow 😭 , I might just finish when the rest of you finish tho
I’m gonna try and finish the botm
been a real quick read so far
still chipping away at #1340673535886229556 and La Conquête de Plassans for #1329215324184121435
Which one was it?
Like A Power Play by Elle Sprinkle! it‘s wlw enemies to lovers
Ooh is that the hockey one?
it is!
I just finished my first book of the year!
It was one of those Christmas romances.. and while I was entertained, it's also a confirmation why I barely read romance
Don’t have a tbr planned, but here’s my progress:
My Heart is a Chainsaw
The Collector’s Apprentice
I’ll Be Waiting
The Unclaimed
Deep Trouble
Deep Trouble II
Bad Hare Day
The Between
Dark Matter
Lady Joker Vol 2
Warriors of God
finished exit strategy :D
my last day of readathon! 23hours to go
Just started #1415335026479861810 and I could knock in out in a day....... not sure if I should finish it up in the spirit of the readathon, or if I should take it slow and savour it.........
readathon demands a sacrifice
I actually did read a small book.
Crawling out of my slump one page at a time.
The prequel to the Eowyn saga.
- Zoals Kerst Bedoeld Is

- #1442781877412040796

I managed to get through 50% of IT

This runs through the 3rd, right?
Yes! in your own timezone as well
Just under 9 hours left, then!
Less than 3 hours for me, don't think I'll finish my current book
I finish at <t:1767513540:f>
a little under 12 hours
Thanks!
GOOD LUCK TWIN U GOT THIS

Happy Birthday OBC!
We turn 5 on February 16th!
Five years strong and many, MANY reads [this past year alone](#announcements message)!
To celebrate, join us for a Readathon from February 13th to February 16th!
If you're unsure what to read during these 4 days, there's plenty of options... starting with Friday the 13th
why not read something spooky? There's plenty of incredibly scary reads in the pins in #horror
Maybe you're more of a Valentine's reader...
may I interest you in a tantalising #romance read?
Or maybe a cosy, sweet read to celebrate the occasion
Regardless of the theme, we're here to celebrate! Looking forward to reading along with you guys (and snooping around your TBR
)
Happy reading!

it's the afternoon of 15th for me! And I just started reading.
but I am sure I can at least finish one of the three : #1317460623767900291 message
how is your progress Spicy?
Go Clock!!! What are you starting with?
I have done any reading since my last update, but I plan to stay up a bit tonight and get more reading done!
firstly I read The Possessed by Elis Batuman, I think it's a non-fiction. I have finished the introduction part which is the reflection on her path to writing career. But I want to take a break before entering the main text because the introduction somehow also makes me reflect on my life.
So I start reading The Snow White Murder Case by Minato Kanae. I read for almost two hours now
the page count is around 100.
stay up to read and catch some progress is a good idea. I'm going to do the same.
You got this!!! Sounds productive
yall read so fast.
Probably because I have whole day
it's my day off now. I have nothing else to do besides reading
need to keep up with you people, gotta work on my reading skills
Well.. it's a translation copy into my mothe tongue so I can read really fast. And I am sort of skim reading. Also because the content is really easy to understand. So don't worry to much.
Failing to read so hard this weekend 🙈
About to go see a friend for coffee so I'll listen to https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1461412488825274494 on the way there
Haven't read a lot sadly, but I did adopt chickens :D but theyll have to stay in their house until tommorow to learn their home. so I'll hopefully be able to finish my book

This time, this readathon's only "checklist" item, or prompt, is to:
□ read a book written by a woman 🫶
Sound too easy? Spice it up by adding more restrictions/challenges in honour of IWD (International Women's Day) 🌻 (and then share what you plan to do and read!!)
Learn more about IWD here: https://www.internationalwomensday.com/
I think I just checked out some books by women authors, so definitely going to highlight them with this readathon!

Readathon time!!! <@&1309963907518955560>
(Can you believe it's been 2 months since the last readathon
)
We're BACK and ready to crush these books!
This readathon will go from May 14 through 17 in your timezone
(including the full day of the 14th and the full day of the 17th)
Do you know what you want to read for the readathon? Post your TBR here!
only one of those is a day off for me so not sure how much reading i will get done
still gonna try though
Yess!!! Read whenever you're free to! 🫶 No need to attend the full thing if you can't or don't want to
Is this for new books from start to finish during this time, or finishing books we’ve already started, or is there a list somewhere of books we need to pick from?
going to be busy with uni work but o7 to you all
There's no rules for this, you can read whatever you want! The readathons we host are mostly just a way to gather a group of people to all read at the same time (and cheer each other on!)
SOMETIMES we host readathons with a list of prompts to follow, but it would be explicitly mentioned in the announcement message (and they're always optional). But this isn't one of those readathons so just read whatever you want!
o7 to you too! Good luck w uni 🫡

So yeah, thats my goal :DD
I happen to have a free day tommorow hihi
I'll try to finish the fifth season
Based on the fact that 2 separate servers are doing readathons this weekend im assuming there is some kind of public holiday somewhere?
It'll be Victoria day for me hehe
But tbh I actually hosted this to force myself to finish my BRs ending this week LOL
Valid lol
probably just a coincidence, but tomorrow is Christi Himmelfahrt (apparently called "Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ" in English) which is a holiday in Germany and other (mostly European) countries
Yeah it's a holiday here in Sweden too
Same here in the netherlands, but here it's called "hemelvaart"

I'm sorry, I'm pretty new, what's a readathon?
huh I just wanted to forward the message
Every day since the first announcement I keep thinking it’s marathon day. 🫠 I have no sense of time. (Thanks, insomnia.) I’m thinking about setting a running timer on my phone and starting/pausing it whenever I read during the readathon to see how many hours I read, just for fun. I’m stupidly excited over this.
usually just an alloted amount of time to devote to getting through what you're reading, some folks plan to read certain things in that period of time
It's no pressure either, just a fun event
Readathon TBR
- Red Rising
- Anne of Green Gables
TBR:
- Las alas de Sophie
- An offer from a gentleman
I have never participated so I hope I don't just give up the first day lol
Good thing you have 3 more days to try again!
Sooo true!!

I’m working on my list of reading priorities. Gotta finish Wuthering Heights for the Buddy Read, then I’m gonna try to focus on library books that are partially finished so I can clear out some spaces in my Libby app. And some physical books in between ebooks to give my eyes a break.
Omg nice! I just finished Wuthering Heights. I can't wait to hear what you think of it
I thought there was going to be nobody else finishing up the BR so I felt lonely typing my thoughts in there HAHA
You’re making me so excited for the read a thon!!!!! /gen I’m so glad you’re here with us!!!

I had been writing notes per chapter just to help me keep the characters straight in my head, and then I read several chapters in a row without writing anything, and then I felt bad, but I realize not everyone wants to hear every thought I had while reading hahaha so I’ll probably just put a few of my notes in there and then try to summarize my final thoughts once I’m finished. I’m definitely still planning on finishing it. (Wish we had an extra couple days to finish, but I’ll do my best!)
Oh wow thank you so much! Sometimes I feel like such a dork and like everyone else here knows each other and I’m just some random person jumping into other people’s games. 🫣 So for real, thanks for what you said! 🩵
I totally get that!
it can be really difficult entering an established server with an active group of users but we LOVE when newer people come and participate in our events!!

based on my current pace and lack of anything else to do before work i might finish exit strategy today
How cheesy is it that I’m literally counting down the minutes now until this starts in my time zone? 🫣 I’ve got a rough yet somehow very specific outline of what I’d like to read all four days but I have a feeling I’ll end up reading other things than what I’ve got on my list. Oh well.
My personal stopwatch rules are: ONLY reading time counts, not time i spend writing notes about what I read (like for the buddy read and whatever), and not time I spend getting distracted by browsing through my library apps. I promise I won’t cheat! [which is super cheesy since using a stopwatch isn’t even part of the challenge yet here I am promising not to break my own rules about it!] 🤷🏻♀️
You have inspired me and I wanna do a stopwatch too
if you don't mind
Would be so cool to see after \o/
done! took a little under 2hrs, thank god for pomodoro videos
Yay!! Team Stopwatch!
I’m thinking of doing a reading sprint because this starts in FOUR MINUTES for me!!
Ooo same timezone buddies
I finished the book last night, and will try to finish my current book during the readathon
Time for lunch then while im at work i can make a bit more of a dent into my non fic ebook
Gonna be hard to track how long i spend reading that one but I might try
my readathon tbr:
- finish The Power by Naomi Alderman
- make a bit of progress in gender rituals by eli lawliet (nonfiction & might be too spiritual for me, we'll see)

Here’s my official end of Day 1 timer. I didn’t have any goal in mind for how much time I planned to spend reading, so I’m kind of surprised to see how long I actually did read!
Day 1 reading accomplishments:
• completed one book
• one chapter to go in each of 2 different books
• read a nice chunk out of 3 other books
• started a cute little “take a break” book
• Wuthering Heights is kicking my butt but I’m still going! Didn’t get as far in that one today as I would have liked, sooo maybe tomorrow I need to read a few less “other” books. 😬
Started reading #1497068298758656113
I read for 90 mins and finished my book!!!!

I did :D
Finished this at 1:30am
finished #1497068258497527892 ! now to start The Gossamer Years: A Diary by a Noblewoman of Heian Japan as an entrée to #1457514654212292801
Appending this to include an audiobook I picked up!
I have a ton of baking to do today so I'll be listening Malala Yousafzai's Finding My Way!
That’s exactly what my sister was doing today! Well, different book, but a crazy amount of baking! 🥖 🥯 🍞 🥐🥧🧁🍰🍪
Day 2 Update: I totally forgot to stop and start my timer a few times LMAO so we'll say 1hr 40min
Started: 30% through https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1498051445453357246
Progress: 53% through The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid
ooh are you enjoying the wolf and the woodsman? its been staring at me from my shelf for a while

Largely no
LOL
I like the lore Reid's got goin on but the MC makes me want to lie down in a cold dark place with my thoughts
oof, gonna keep putting in off for a bit then lol
Here’s my end of Day 2 timer. (This is a running timer, so it includes yesterday and today, NOT all today!)
Day 2 accomplishments:
• finished another book
• read a little bit each from 3 other books (one poetry and one nonfiction, both by Margaret Atwood, and one murder mystery)
• making progress with Wuthering Heights! I can’t thank @junior raptor enough for allowing me a few extra days to finish this for the buddy read. I was so stressed about it.
Another noteworthy accomplishment: I spilled an almost full thermos of water all over my bed during a reading sprint but … none of my books got wet!! 🫣😄
🤔 I think I tagged the wrong Sofia. Sorry @junior raptor . But I hope you’re reading some great books and it was nice to accidentally meet you!
@edgy geyser This is the Sofia who saved my sanity with Wuthering Heights.
OH ALSO I read all this on my SHINY NEW KOBOOOO
YOOOOOOO NO FREAKING WAYYYY LFGGGG
How are you liking the device?
I love it!!! It's so versatile??? I feel like I can read way more cozy with it if that makes sense LOL
I only recently learned of the existence of those things. I heard they’re better for your eyes, vs reading from the tablet screen. Do you think that’s true?
idk if it'd be better than other e-ink readers like the Kindle, but I can see it being better than regular screens like phones/iWhatever. It has blue/orange colour changing for night vs day reading
Yeah I just use the kindle app on my iPad/iphone, or my library app. I don’t have an actual kindle. I’ve always wondered if there was really a difference. I might have to check them out. Do they hold a charge for a decent amount of time?
I haven't had the Kobo long enough to know, but the Kindle has a really good charge! ^u^
Well that’s good to know. And sorry for all the questions! 😜
It does hold charge well! I charge my kobo every 2 weeks or so (sometimes more, when I'm too busy not reading) and am able to get a lot of reading out of it
Except one time I left it out in the cold overnight and it lost all its charge
Cold and lonely kobo
i am very tempted to get a kobo, waiting until i gave more in savings before spending that much
Ok I only read for 20 mins because I was playing too much subnautica 2
Finishedhttps://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1479321728059576512
I've been so bad at updating but I have been reading
Thursday
- The Halfling's Harvest by S.L. Rowland
Friday
- The Bone Door by Frances White
- First Crush by Cassandra Calin
- The Fight For The Hidden Realm by Siobhan McDermott
- She Who Remains by Rene Karabash
Hahaha no worries!! I am thank you, I’m reading Les Misérables
"saved a reader's sanity with Wuthering Heights" adding this to my CV right now /j
But glad that I could help
i really should have read my ebook while at work instead of getting distracted rereading fanfiction
Well i was supposed to read so much since it's a 4 day weekend but I had the amazing idea of building bob's burgers in sims 4 and now I'm too deep to give up. I'll still try to read a bit 🥲
oh mood, the sims is such a time sink
Reading is reading ❤️

I came across this post from a girl, ranting about audiobooks not being reading, cause "iT's LiStEnInG, nOt ReAdInG"
and "people only do it so they can show off how many books they've 'read' in a year" and I was so annoyed.. like why do you care so much about how people consume their books?
Read how/what you want to read, let people be
Time to start a new book!
over halfway through The Gossamer Years - looks like I might finish it today but not get to start on Geisha
I started reading The Three Body Problem this morning for book club, I also made some progress on The Well of Ascension
Updates
Day 1: 95 mins of reading
- Goddess of the River (27%)
Day 2: 127 mins of reading
- Finding My Way (28%)
- Infinite Jest (315/435pgs)
i know but i cant count fics as books read lol. most authors dont like their stuff ending up on GR or whichever site
ooh if I read a graphic novel I might be able to average a book finished each day of this readathon!
i was hoping to finish my graphic novel in a day when i started it then my brain rebelled so i can only read a couple pages at a time
day 2
elisabeth sladen - 45%
the promise - 12%
day 3
the promise - 18%
cthulhu mythos tales - 82% (previously paused at 77%)
hopefully today will be better
I am sort of slogging through One Hundred Years of Solitude, I'm really enjoying it but it's a pretty slow one
finished The Gossamer Years! am not going to start Geisha just yet and am going to read a graphic novel instead (given I still have nonfic #1473972693538701530 going)

Progress: 69% through https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1498051445453357246
Progress: 56% through The Ending Writes Itself by Evelyn Clarke girl I gotta go faster on this one
End of Day 3:
• finished the other book I was almost finished with (about 2 little girls who survived Auschwitz)
• made some progress in one of the random other books - read about half of it
• more progress in Wuthering Heights and something major just happened so I hope to read a lot more of that tomorrow (well today actually, if we’re being particular about time zones) but if I’m still sick tomorrow I don’t know how much i’ll be able to focus
Here’s my 3 day timer. I wasn’t planning on it, but I think there’s a good chance I’ll hit 24 hours of reading time by the end of this readathon.
got a little under an hour left in my audiobook so should finish that today, managed to finish another lovecraft short story so ive got 3 left until i finish that collection. not sure whether to try and finish that today or try and read more of my graphic novel or ebook
did not finish the audiobook because i got tired
day 4 update
down among the sticks and bones - 72%
the promise - 32%
Cthulhu Mythos Tales - 86%
when i wake up tomorrow i will make a proper list of how much i read over the last 4 days. overall it was pretty productive
I am late joining in on this readathon because life has been life-ing but I did manage to finish #1474735735491006638 and #1496495741580087367
I’ve started #1494239387154911373 today
2 hours before the readathon end, I couldnt read much during the last 2 days due to an event happening.
But I did start the BOTM. I'll read more before I sleep
Readathon End
Sadly, I did not finish any of my books though I did make some progress:
- Read A Short History of Nearly Everything - Read 120 pages
- Started These Vengeful Wishes - Read 112 pages
- Started The Upside of Falling - Listened to 8 chapters
Hey you still got a lot of reading done! And that Bill Bryson book is huge!
A win is a win!
Updates
Day 3: 10 mins 💀
I only read a few pages of Infinite Jest
Today is my last day of the readathon, I have other responsibilities but I'm hoping to finish them with enough time to read
I'm not on track to finish any books, and I don't think I'll force myself to finish something, but funnily enough I finished 2 books right before -- because I wanted to start the readathon with a fresh plate
so I'll count that as a win anyway
Readathon End
Murderbot Diaries vol 2 - 173pgs, 47-100%
Elisabeth Sladen - 112pgs, 10-45%
The Promise - 42pgs, 0-18%
Cthulhu Mythos Tales - 48pgs, 77-85%
Down Among the Sticks and Bones, 2:58, 25-73%
I have not read very much
BUT I’m putting babynix to bed tonight and I will read a bunch
Yay... Thank you so much!
Thank you so much spicy

End of Readathon update:
• got a huge chunk of Wuthering Heights finished and I’m really happy about that
• I don’t even remember what I’ve already listed and my notes got really messy today but I read probably 75% each of 2 different books over the last three days, and half of another one
• I don’t think I completed any more books other than the ones I mentioned the first 3 days , 1 each of those days maybe?
• worked on a (completely forgotten about) book that had to go back to the library today (an ebook) and read until they sucked it away off my screen while I was in the middle of the sentence - that’s what I get for trying to read in it when I knew it was that close to the return time!
• Bonus: I’m getting a lot more comfortable starting reading sprints, and I try to keep track of who all said they wanted to join so I can make sure they all got logged in. Got to help teach a couple new people how to log in and that was cool. ☺️
And here’s my grand total of time spent reading over all four days. Beginning and ending at midnight on the first and last day, timer only running while I’m reading books:
I’m reading like it’s my full time job. 😅
It’s really all I can do right now though, and it’s keeping me from losing my mind. Being on strict bedrest sucks so much. Reading makes it suck a lot less.
readathon end update:
- finish The Power by Naomi Alderman ✔️
- make a bit of progress in gender rituals by eli lawliet ✔️ (30 pages, I'll maybe dnf it)
- finally start #1494239387154911373 ✖️ , I started Chef's Choice by TJ Alexander instead
The readathon ends for me in 5 minutes and I haven't read anything today
i also have not read yet today, i got very distracted
Updates
Final day: I read 1 page
to keep my reading streak
Good readathon for me! I read a lot in the first 2 days, I guess I needed the last 2 days to recover lol cuz now I'm feeling ready to tackle more books
Thanks for joining everyone! See you all in the next one
cant wait for it! this really helped me read more
Thanks for hosting it!! This was the most fun I’ve had in a while.
Any readathons coming up for June?!?
Yes
if you tell me what days you want to do a readathon I can add it into the plans
Yes.
😁 I am flexible! I just wanna participate and chat with others who are doing it!

There used to be a calendar somewhere online that listed a whole bunch.
But I figure if there's any HERE, I'll get more participation and meet more people 😄
Here’s another vote for a readathon!!
Yessss! Is there a template or something to kind of host to organize one here? Or how does that work?
Most readathons are hosted by staff, there's no template or anything, it's just based on a spur of creativity in the moment
We've had a few member-run readathons but I haven't seen those in a loooong while
Oh good to know! I will keep my eyes peeled!!
Also a vote for the 24 in 48 style! I like having flexibility in the prompts and such but still be encouraged to read read read!
i personally prefer my short term readathons to be promptless because as much as i can make a list i am not the best at sticking to it
Same. And being such a damn mood reader can make things tricky... I need some wiggle room
What does that mean?
Oooh I looked it up, read for 24 hours within 48 hours, interesting
Yeah! It's great for a long weekend/weekend or a call in sick mental health day
can we just do a month long readathon and read at your own pace or is that too long
month long i would forget to update. the storygraph january pages challenge is fun but hard especially if you do end up missing a day. for month long i prefer prompts over just reading
and we've already kinda got the bingos for that
We can try everything out!
I don't read as fast as other people here so even though I get excited and want to participate, in the end I give up because I rarely ever finish a book.
You don't have to finish a book! I never do!
i only finished one book during the last readathon and it was only a novella, i was just focused on reading everyday
I understand. What I'm trying to say is that it would be nice to, sometimes, have longer readathons so that slow readers can also feel accomplished.
Journey before destination! ♥️ It's not a race, it's about just a tually reading and giving ourselves more motivation and reason to do it while sharing with others 👍😉
I understand what you mean. I'm not a fast reader either, but I remind myself it's about the journey not the final numbers ♥️
Despite that there is a big number of posts referencing TBR lists and checking off the books finished under the readathon. In principle I absolutely agree with you. In any case I was just voicing an opinion/suggestion. I will still participate in readathons whenever I can.
Always good to hear to another perspective! Readers are all different and it's good to have activities that lean into that uniqueness.
The only time I finish a book or two during readathon is because I'm already 80-90% done before readathon starts🫣
Sharing here since this is the readathon channel. Not a OBC readathon but upcoming for June and thought I should share! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKXK_ij7YEg

hey besties! 🔮📖✨
welcome to this year’s tarot readathon announcement! this is a competitive, team-based readathon where your reading is guided by tarot cards, and the way you read might just lead your team to victory. i’ll be walking you through how everything works, the team...
Happy surprise themed <@&1309963907518955560> time
We're going on a road trip, and you get to choose where you're going and how you're going there.
Route 1: planned route
- Milestone 1 - read a fast-paced book
- Milestone 2 - the weather/climate is mentioned in your current read
- Milestone 3 - snack break - read something comforting to you/funny/lighthearted
- Milestone 4 - a day/date/time is mentioned in your current read
- Milestone 5 - a character in your current read complains (about anything)
- Milestone 6 - dinner break - read something you've been looking forward to
- Milestone 7 - final stop - read your favourite genre or a book with a celebration
🔹 Milestones 1 and 2 can be completed with the same book
🔸 Milestones 4 and 5 can be completed with the same book
Route 2: scenic route
Read what you want, when you want, how you want for this readathon - no prompts and no minimum (or maximum)
No matter which route you pick, there is no pressure - read however much you want.
If you pick the planned route, you can use books you have already started reading to complete any prompts. The same goes for the scenic route.
If you would like to personalise your route, 'milestones' can be replaced with place names or landmarks.
-# Please don't doxx yourself if you choose to do this though.
This readathon runs from the beginning of May 28th - end of June 7th in your timezone.
Any questions, please just ask ❤️
Thank you to @north flare for making the card for this too
YAY I LOVE THIS ❤️ Thanks OBC friends!
PERFECT TIMING
I was just complaining about how I needed to finish a book by Sunday lmao
With my current book, I feel like I'm in the "running errands to prepare for the road trip" aka milestone 0 😂
Oh wow I didn’t realize how soon this was starting! Like two hours ago!! Wooohoooo gotta get my stopwatch set up!
Omg yay
this is so cool!
I'll take the scenic route, I'm way too much of a mood reader to keep myself to prompts 😅
I'll also take the scenic route, because I already managed to stress myself out by requesting to many arcs and doing other challenges.
My Plan is to
- finish my reread of The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
- finish or dnf gender rituals by eli lawliet and
- start and finish There is Hope by Claudia Befu
I already did one of the things that I wanted to do :D - I dnfed (did not finish) gender rituals, it wasn't for me
yay! progress made already
it's good that you're not forcing yourself to read something you're not enjoying too
I did try to keep them broad but I know they're not for everyone. I hope you have some good reads
I'm in the 'I wanted to start but got distracted' stage so milestone 0 too
This will be fun! I have a feeling I’ll pull a little from both milestones. This will help me read as much as I can before I go on vacation and reading will be limited.
I'm going to try to finish the knight and the moth today 🙏 And after that I'll read everdying and then my moodreading will take over
Currently reading #1498051445453357246 and Goddess of the River and I’m SO glad we can use books we’ve already started
I knew that for people who wanted to do the card that 5-7 books in 10 days to complete it would be a lot so I thought this would be the fairest way for everyone
Got some listening done on the dramatized audio of https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1124712901928828960
The audio is split into 3 different parts so I'm almost done with part 1!
yayyyyyy thank you for organizing this @elfin barn and for the artwork @north flare
i got too excited and have mapped out my roadtrip w my current reads LMAO will i follow the plan? only time will tell.
i dont have a fast paced book in mind tho so quite literally don't know where to start, and very open to recommendations!! esp bc a good fast-pace might trick my brain to really get going with all the other books hehe
hmmm maybe howls moving castle?
i thought that to be quite fast paced!
