idyllic ➳ Free From Falling
earnest ➳ The Poetry of Oscar Wilde
my lineup
for deserving I‘m still thinking of what to do that will make me feel better
Looking into what to put down for all the prompts for the read-a-thon and the bingos! Can't wait.
Pride-a-thon
- Persevering - Tea You at the Altar
- Radiant - The Stonewall Riots
- Idyllic - She gets the Girl
- Earnest - Charity and Sylvia
- Deserving - participating in World Pride where I live
Not sure about my Earnest prompt yet
I suspect my newspaper perhaps has a very good essay in there this week about pride month, would that count?
yes!
i had to postpone my massage for the deserved prompt
i will get to the article and then tuck in for the night and read some more of lavash at first sight
A massage really is peak self-care
RIGHT but i didn’t know i had to book and they didn’t have any spots open for me at a reasonable hour
might go tomorrow
I just sent an email to a skin clinic. I don’t think that would be happening anytime this week but finally being willing to throw money at my acne problem really is my selfcare moment
i love that for you
self care task of the day: going to buy new workout shoes!
my deserving task was not bed/couchrotting this sunday: i visited a coworker, attended a convention, read half of my radiant book and then walked back home
it was really wonderful and i had so many nice experiences today
that's so nice to hear
i'm so glad you had a good time rin
thank you!! i won quite a lot of nice stuff, got instant noodles for free and found some stuff i‘ve been searching for for ages
so many people talked to me as well and were all super nice
i finished the nell stevens article and with that the earnest prompt
i'll do one big update of the checklist
omg what instant noodles?
they‘re by a local brand called maggie
love u guys
updated tasklist
i love the different shades of yellow we have going on rn
Read this article for ‘earnest’
“The dilemma of Pride: protest or celebration?”
Last year in Amsterdam this debate even led to two different pride weeks
lavash at first sight for idyllic
finished my first book- malibu rising
there's also a gay awakening moment in the book, which I didnt see coming, but it was a great one
I'm goimg to just use danmai to fill my readathon haha
You're on to me
Hehehe. I'm going to finish my cowboy romance and then I'm reading The Disabled Tyrants Beloved Pet Fish volume 4
The way these titles always crack me up
I assume the sound better in Chinese haha
that would make sense
Reading this one. I think this will fit preserving
I've been busy
I have an idea of what I want to read for the radiant prompt but it's a new release tomorrow. Hopefully I can pick up a copy but if not then I think #1378017195040178237 might be a good backup
also Orion & The Cloudkillers had trans rep for the
Finished DallerGut Dream Department Store for radiant 🌈
this book was made for this prompt
did you like it? i see it a lot in bookstores but i‘m always hesitant about picking it up for some reason
hmm my thought on this are a bit complicated
I wouldn‘t really recommend it (no spoilers given) ||I‘ve been struggling with these kind of 'Feel Good' books really but at least this one didn‘t feel too overexaggerated in forcing a certain feeling 'down your throat' but I just don‘t think it worked as a story; if it had been unrelated short stories with an overarching theme orrrr just focused on fewer people, then I think this could have been great!||
It this weird mix of short stories but they all are too close and/or similar to each other for me
I would agree with this. I enjoyed it overall, but think your point is solid.

- Waist Deep by Linea Maja Ernst
- Mountain Upside Down by Sara Ryan
- The Betrayal of Thomas True by A.J. West

also going to revisit some Walt Whitman poetry later as he's one of my favorite poets
Read a Collection of Poems by Oscar Wilde in the bathtub for earnest; tho I didn‘t really enjoy them, here is part of Her Voice which spoke to me
And there is nothing left to do
But to kiss once again, and part,
Nay, there is nothing we should rue,
I have my beauty, - you your Art,
Nay, do not start,
One world was not enough for two
Like me and you.
you guys r doing so well

I read a whole book in one sitting yesterday
in my Abi era
my favorite poem about queer love by Walt Whitman is The Glimpse but ugh, this one is so good too
When I heard at the close of the day how my name had been receiv’d with plaudits in the capitol, still it was not a happy night for me that follow’d, And else when I carous’d, or when my plans were accomplish’d, still I was not happy, But the day when I rose at dawn from the bed of perfect health,…
Finished my first book of the readathon, the goal now is to hopefully read two more between school work and packing

Heaven Official’s Blessing was sooo cute ❤️ I loved how the dongua was so similar to the novel. I like getting giddy with excitement when I know my favorite scenes will come up in the book im reading
i think if you read it from before june 1, you can only use it for 1 prompt
Ooooh damn I didnt realise
Fuck, Blood and Ice is neither colourful nor light-hearted
just read vol 1 of heartstopper lol
i have a copy and i wanna read it but i have a stacked tbr
Hmm I did read 4 volumes of this graphic novel too this week, that could work
I forgot, what were the rules about adult reads on the bingo card? Not show the cover or not show the title? Or title + cover is okay as long as its not an adult cover?
my finished prideathon card
yes I think it's okay as long as it's not obviously adult and you're not fully discussing the book outside of adult channels
For the deserving prompt, I skipped class today cos I was lowkey tired and it's raining and cold which is the perfect weather to stay in and read. I got some thai milk tea, apples w honey and donuts, lit a candle, put on some nice music and started a new book
For the earnest, I read multiple cos i love articles yall. also a poem by Emily dickinson my love, which is speculated that it was written for her sister in law whom she was in love with gayyy

hit the 50% mark of https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1343886715915599914 today, should get it finished before the end of the Readathon!

YAY YOU GUYSS

Actually, just realized I have most of them already. Maybe I can squeak out a complete card if I can bang through them.
I am going to try to finish https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1374686306189443142 in honor of the last day of the pride-a-thon

I've been having loads of fun this weekend with A Ferry of Bones & Gold!
Did it!
ahhh you’re reading it
Yes!!!
You were spot on with your recommendation
Chaotic human fbi agent navigating a hellish murder investigation in a paranormal setting = perfection
i finished my first and probably only book of the readathon lmao
For most mortals, reading a whole book in a weekend is a huuuuge feat. You did a thing!
Really, reading as part of your weekend instead of scrolling etc., is kind of amazing in this time.
thanks
aw i dont think i can finish another book in 2hours, but glad to finish some for the BRs
Finished a novella. We'll see what the rest of the day brings.
i have almost 7 hours left so we’ll see if i finish another book, probably not hehe

ok I’m making good progress considering I’ve only been able to really read ⅓ days of the weekend

my read-a-thon results
I have The Fireborne Blade scheduled for later this year but
at your rating for the second book
i fear it was ass
but i lurved the first one : )
i actually loved the beginning of the second one but uh.. that didn't last for long
now I'm scared
it was unfortunate, i wanted my gays to gay more
instead i got a badly written plot
Weekend-a-thon results: Although I didn't finish The Stranger (dragging through it), I got a few more pages read. I read a lot more of Moonsilver than expected to, so hooray! All in all, a fun little push to read in bits of time throughout a busy weekend.
✨
I hope to see you in the next readathon lorelai!
I finished all of these yesterday but have been doing a digital detox and couldn’t update much here
Buuut, I surprised myself by how much reading I can get done in a day sans distractions
I finished the last half of one book and the first half of another haha so I net one book during the Readathon
it was really cute but the whole shara thing was kinda swept under the rug? i think? like, i couldn't connect with chloe's thoughts at all but i loved that she was such a badass
Finished my Pride Read a Thon!
Prince of the Arena was good. It’s a prequel Novella to the Beasts of the Briar series that I’ve been following for a few years. It was nice seeing some of the background story for 2 of the MMC
If We Were Perfect was my colourful choice because while it did focus on a hetero couple we had a background queer couple. It also felt better to add than Animal Farm
The disabled tyrant, beloved pet fish volume four snack the spot for a lighthearted queer novel. I absolutely love the ending of this danmei and it’s so funny. I’m sad to see the characters go but literally everything that I wanted to happen in this book happen and it’s so silly. It’s very refreshing after grandmaster of demonic cultivation and have an official blessing. Different author though.
I borrowed she is the poem from my friend who recommended it. It wasn’t my favourite bit of poetry and I didn’t get the same message out of it that she did. But it was beautifully written, it just felt more like wishes on a dandelion, fluff, and poems to me. I’m also just not a poem girly though so that didn’t help.
Also, for my self-care task, I got my nails done. They’re very cute and they say choose happy. And one of my thumb says love.
omg yay, looks great!
the pride-a-thon is over now though, thank you for doing it still
Oh no! My bad 😅
That’s still really cool! Thank you for participating

Can you read in Roblox? 👀
they really should make a game for that but unfortunately not
I will play roblox for a teeny bit and then read before bed
Make it yourself, be the change you want to see in the digital world-
Making a video game that encourages adults to read would be interesting, there's lots of stuff like that for toddlers who are LEARNING how to read, but like a video game where there's game play between every chapter, where you have to pay attention to what happened in the chapter you just read because specifically what the character did is the only way to beat the level or something
woah that's really cool
I be coming up with half baked million dollar ideas on such random Thursday afternoons frfr 😂
I think I basically just described if a visual novel had actual gameplay
I've been waiting for the chance to send it somewhere loll
i'm very glad you got that chance here
@potent obsidian I'd like to join the sundae activity!
My tbr: six of crows, crooked kingdom, a space odyssey
But currently reading wuthering heights
TBR:

- The Waves by Virginia Woolf
- A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
- The Office of Historical Corrections by Danielle Evans

Me waiting 40 minutes so that it is the 4th to stick to the spirit of the readathon in order to make my sundae order and start my book

@potent obsidian add me as well, please
@potent obsidian And mee?
My ideas for a tbr:
A cold book : #1386744991354716271 because parts of it are probably set in space. Space is very cold.
Stay with me : a book from my physical tbr which I will keep on my shelf. So this way it will stay with me.
Bubblegum : #1380793950847238225 which I already started. I do not know if it will make me happy all the time but the parts I read so far were cute!
Surprise twist : Book 1 of #delicious-in-dungeon .. I dont know much about it but the premise sounds like the characters do pretty surprising things in a dungeon!
Yes its friday for me! I won;t be doing any reading today Im afraid, but I have a lot of time on saturday and sunday!
Ohh I might copy your Bubblegum read! I was going to wing it because I don't know if any of my books will match these prompts lol

I haven't read a fantasy book in a hot minute and I forgot how much joy it brings me LOL (I've been waiting for this second installment The Ashfire King for three years) also the same book for Neapolitan!
I just need to post a picture of a cold drink! (I keep downing my iced tea because it's so h o t
I started this for the first time but keep setting it aside for other reads. I need to get back on it.
same
Added TTIGDaSaH - I’m so tired of typing all that out lol. Surprise twist! And at the beginning, no less.
i also started that in june, but i managed to finish 22 other books aside from that
I'm liking it so far, I've just put priority on a few others (partially since I own a copy and don't have the time pressure of a library checkout).
Awesome job on all the books read!
Starting dis card
Here's my cold drink of the day. It's an iced coffee with oatmeal milk cold foam.
that looks delicious oh my
It was. I used Hazelnut, Raspberry, and Blueberry syrups to sweeten and it was a great summer drink.
\
My cold snack! tried to match the sundae I ordered but couldn't find any ube, so instead it's moooo-berry blend

I started my chilly book last night!
My cool beverage. Seltzer all day every day
omg slay-tzer
"monster taste good, actually!" is one of the weirdest ideas I have ever seen in a book :D
HAHAHA
and it has become a little too cold for cool drinks here. Damn! I will visit a street festival tomorrow, maybe they have some nice cocktails or something :)
cool foods count too if you're struggling pauline! have fun at the street festival
I am usually a "lukewarm tap water" person :D
Thank youu!
I will read a book for the last prompt now, "Galatea" by Madeline Miller. My edition has beautiful illustrations, I might post some pictures later because it is stunning.
ooo yes please! I'd love to see that
They are so cool
I am in love with that last picture
The illustrator is Thomke Meyer. Seems to be a thing for the German edition?
I read this! I'd love to know what you think about it when you're done!
don’t get much crispier than this
with this I am finished with the book prompts!
I really enjoyed it! I didnt know much about the Pygmalion myth before and man, that is a weeeeird myth to begin with 🙈 I like what Miller did with it, I only hoped it was longer.
It's been awhile since I read Galatea but those pictures feel like it goes with the vibe. I also felt the same pauline!
I think someone else did this as well, but Penpal for a bit that I think will stay with me for a long time (Frozen Tongues)
OMFG I DID IT
(also I loved We Used To Live Here and it will be sticking with me for quite some time)
OMG YAY VAUDE

yay I'm slowly getting there
also Girls Like Her was a pretty dark read so I might do the bubblegum prompt next as a palate cleanser
i dont think i could finish the checklist (nor my tbr) but i'm gonna try to cram as much manga then reread some of my favorite books
i feel a slump coming through so imma take it slow
i hope the slump doesnt settle in scarlett, im sorry
Alcohol free bellini at an open air festival!
omg that looks goooooood pauline!
So, I might not get my books all done :c
The contracts for my new place have been exchanged and the bf and I are set to move in Friday! Means I've been super busy this week (also work and hella birthdays)
Why does everything have to get busy for the one readathon I'm super excited and organised for? Haha
awww I'm so sorry!
but hey, new place! congrats
i finished another bookkk
its Dial A for Aunties, which is written by a Chinese-Indonesian author who is living now somewhere in the US (i think)
it has been on my tbr for sooooo long, so im really glad i got to pick it up now. i think it resonates a lot with me because of its cultural heritage, although i do think its heavily chaotic at times (my family is too)

I'm gonna try to finish out the readathon, but my job really chose this week to make me work as much as possible
see you yesterday for bubblegum
and i think that might be all im able to read for this readathon, its been a hectic week
aaa omg obsessed with the way the cover matches the template!
hope you have a chill weekend
yeah no i dont think thats gonna happen, but thanks anyways
i've read 2 more books since this! #1385795768467718286 and #1378275619707813940

Completed this on such a speed run honeslty. I am not sure whether to count kari as suprise twist bcz I was just suprised thay nothing happened at all in the end.
i can’t remember, i know i made your ice cream but did you finish the checklist? /genq
I have to send a photo of the food/drink yet just read them all today actually
The only picture I have that falls between the readathon. It was as disgusting as it looked though
oh was it cold?
oh the checklist says something cold unfortunately
I don’t think I’m going to get to finish this one. I had too many books hanging out from June this early in the month

I CAN USE 1 BOOK STARTED BEFORE READATHON
OMG I CAN DO THIS IM GONNA SPEEDRUN SAILOR MOON VOL 2 LOLLLL

I'm hoping to read one more book before the readathon ends in my time zone. Just need it to be the end of the work day.
finished with Sailor Moon Vol. 2 for Neopolitan! i also finished all the checklist
as a never read/never watch sailor moon girlie, i think the plot is so quirky and gave me lots of whiplash
spoiler for vol. 2 ||i mean... i kinda expected who would be Princess Serenity. but then they introduced Sailor V's with the Moon Kingdom symbol, so I thought 'oh maybe not'. then apparently it was all decoy. so much twist, that i found HUH?||
I love that you're getting into Sailor Moon and enjoying it! 😊
i keep wanting to read them because they were the icon, but i have never got the chance. but now that we have an event going...
Sailor Moon was my first anime a very long time ago.
Definitely makes sense to dive in with an event!
Okay, I finally got a cold drink! Strawberry smoothie with purple rice
THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS
It's the last day of the readathon for me! I haven't been in a readathon mood all week but finally I'm ready to do a lot of reading

Go spicy!
going to treat myself with a cold pepsi max after a long day
oh that one is THICC enjoy!!

Idk what the build your own sundae event was, I probably already missed it. But this was a really cute event!
I read only 50 pages
I will likely do a lil personal readathon this weekend so I can catch up on my reads 🫡 thank you Jana for hosting this

For the book to count during this for the read off, do we need to start and finish it in that time period?
yes!
I thought so but just wanted to make sure. Need to finish a few books before Saturday then to start with a clean slate. 😊
whoops, i keep forgetting these readathons are usually for books you start and finish in designated time period, i'm too slow a reader for that sadly 😅
Same! I'm so glad this week's readathon isn't like that
super chill and easy this time
But in the restrictive readathons sometimes I just ignore all prompts anyway so I can still read alongside others HAHA
this readathon is a free-for-all read, yeah?
Yes! It's in the announcement! (In the pins)
Woaaa time to get outta my reading slump in basically all of July

🏝️ Wild Dark Shore
🪜 I Who Have Never Known Men ✅
i finished volume 2 of delicious in dungeon
its already july 26 in my timezone so i wonder if i can start jjk
if you're talking about this buddy read https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1396526689999392840 you should be able to as it's already started, the leader's a bit late in doing the beginning announcement
oh yay! i think the timezone also affects the timing of announcement, like iirc botm follows the server's timezone?
not sure about botms but br start dates and times are the ones you see here #1396526689999392840 message and it's the same ‘time’ for everyone just in your own timezones
and anyway we generally recommend the beginning announcement to be sent out within 24 hours of the start date if this makes sense?
oooohhh i see, thank you jana!
im gonna do a little bit more of delicious in dungeon until i get the craving. when it hits im gonna switch to quell it down
jujutsu kaisen would kill my craving so fast
finished vol 3 of delicious in dungeon!
im gonna continue a little bit of legendborn now
I’m almost through #1372199578308317256 so thought I’d take a break and start the botm instead (needed something light and botm works so well)
