#Readathons!

nothing to be sorry about my love bug
Sorry to bug you @potent obsidian , but did we ever get an answer on whether we can use a book we started before the readathon started? I’ve seen it asked a few times but afaik it never got answered
oh don’t worry about bugging me! (you’re not!)
I think it should be fine!
Ok thank you!
i’ve started little eyes
I’m almost done with my first read, but it’s a bit disappointing. I think after two disappointing-slash-tiring books (the botm and now this) I need a small break from reading
what are you reading?
slowly making my way over to your goodreads
oh it sounds interesting
HAHAHA
it’s very interesting, the story too. but the writing is putting me to sleep
I finished it though. powered through
And not spam the reading sprint channel in a day like me
awww no spam all you want!!
yes! that's what the reading sprint channel is for ❤️
I’m taking a lunch break right now 🤧
Still working on the 3.14h challenge and finally started to read One Hundred Flowers as well for the second prompt (it has 'flowers' on the cover, literally
)
I finished spring is sprung! I‘ll send in my checklist when I‘m done with all the prompts. I‘m going to watch a show for a bit and take a shower and I think I‘ll continue on with tropic of cancer.

slay, I love that!
hopefully I can tonight when I’m home gonna go ham on it might do some sprints too!
I‘ll join the sprints if I‘m free! for some reason I‘ve noticed that I read a lot faster & more focused while sprinting
Ooo love that for you! I used to be the same honestly when I did the sprints I’ve kinda neglected that channel for a while
also, this was an oversight on my end, but would we appreciate a template for the books read at the end? which‘ll correspond with the prompts where we have to read a book for?
I’ve been reading much much slower than normal
Omg yessss!! I was just about to make one myself but if you can match it with the checklist !!!
okay, on it!
@everyone hi everyone, sorry for the ping
complete oversight on my end but I‘ve made a template for the books completed during this readathon just in case anyone wants it.
for the pi day prompt, if you‘re not doing a bookish prompt (e.g. you‘re eating pie) you can just put a photo of the pie you ate. if you‘re doing the 3h14min challenge you can make a small collage of books you read or a random (sfw) picture.
fabulous
im loving these colour schemes im obsessed
yay for graphics
so glad work is ending for me in 4 hours i can fully focus on this readathon this weekend
This might be how it looks for me at the end of the week
AWESOMEE
all reading is good reading!! (also we have the same edition of the vegetarian!!)
I changed my mind and went shopping today instead and picked up a children’s book for my physical book square
I also have 0 understanding how thick paper is apparently because all books looked SO THICK and I wanted a short book and this one is only 160p
oh that looks so cosy :3
it does! It's apparently the most sold children book in the country currently
starting my 2nd book of the readathon with mahmoud darwish :3 (my hamster)
OH MY GOODNESS
That cover is GORG
IKRRR
Ugh I’d love that framed
I dnf‘ed this book before, so I‘m hellbent on not doing so again this time around
Yesss you can do ittt
I have been informed that I am not allowed to eat a whole pie???
I will now do the 3.14 hour reading to finish Pale Fire
Because my previous plan was not allowed???
what the who said that
Both my mother and brother said "wtf we want pie too" and it's very hard to justify "I need to consume this whole pie because Jana asked me to for Pi day"
Is that a cactus shaped water system?!
That's actually an edition I have from my library, my own is way less pretty
awww you can eat a slice and it‘ll still count! :3
yes!! 🌵
THEY WANNA EAT IT TOMORROW
THEY DON'T GET IT
So I'm gonna read Pale Fire for 3.14 hours
OHH you can take the entirety of the readathon duration to finish up the pi prompts! :3
good luck
OH ... I will still do both because I wanna finish Pale Fire tonight
disasterous
can you at least eat π of pie? /hj
I'm planning on reading a lot over the weekend and such to get back on my buddy reading grind, but im not sure if I'll finish any books actually
I'll try my bestest
update: 15% through Catch-22! trying to balance my desire to readathon with needing to do school work
don’t worry about it!! any reading is 💯
I wish you luck with your school work britt
Are you liking Catch-22?
It's in like my top 50 favourite books
tbh I'm kind of conflicted! on the one hand, I'm like "plot?" but on the other hand, I think he has some really interesting things to say about the military
and the Catch-22s themselves are very clever
Does a mince pie count as a pie???
Pork pie…oughhh
I totally get it, I might lurk for thoughts in the thread
YAAAYYY template
Humble Pi finished!
I’m done for the weekend I can fully commit to this now
yayy!!
Hoping to finish The Priory of the Orange Tree this readathon
Hoping to finish

okay I fell asleep after sending this in and didn’t do any reading lol
gonna walk my dogs and then pick it up again
I read a lot of the BOTM last night! But I forgot to time myself so I don't know when I'll make it to the 3hr 14m mark
If I just read a lot each day, surely I'll pass that mark....... I think
yes you will!!
I hope everyone’s having a restful sunday ^.^
I didn’t read at all today, only like two chapters of little eyes.
you’re killing it, britt!
Naww Sunday is always good to chill out I read 100pgs of my book but that’s about it just been watching my shows today watching the fosters
don’t feel forced to read if you don’t want to read love plenty time during readathon to finish your books !!
beautiful!! no pie is late
Late pie because it's been eaten.
Half way !
I finally came back from a brief cabin vacation with no wifi
How was it?
Half complete!
Here’s a pic of the pie I ate before I took it out of the package
Reading outside for a little bit because it was so windy outside
And reading for 3 hours 14 minutes
(tho I took the picture about 4 hours and 20 minutes 🍃$
I slept through dinner but they saved the pie
Also finished #1330090227112611870
Aiming to finish #1334072443270205491 and #1314139822008434810 tomorrow
I am 75% through Catch-22 and think I will try to just finish it here tonight

Finished Catch-22! Will update all the various cards tomorrow
no idea if pizza is a pie (I don’t think so) but ey, it’s round food and I had it after reading ^.^
i havent touch any grass yet
Oh no this is not going great for me
I have been only able to read a couple of pages this weekend
no worries andy, any reading is good
absolutely! just gotta give up on the hopes for the role, but having fun is more important in the end!
I was so deprived of my reading time this weekend I literaly screamed and then hid on the couch underneath some blankets right before bedtime, just to read a lil
I‘d hide under blankets and read with you andy 👩❤️💋👩
but I‘m really sorry that you were deprived of reading time 💗
and don‘t fret!! there is always hope still
yes lets build a fort!
It was okay, I had 2 fun birthdays and I got to reorganize my new kitchen ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
aww omg that sounds like so much fun
Not very Springy unfortunately
omg, I can‘t wait to read your thoughts on this

updating my card so far: Catch-22 for my Pi Day read, since it has a number in the title, and then I added a photo of my balcony reading for the "Touch Grass" prompt
I will do some spring cleaning of my SG tbr now
Before spring cleaning:
After spring cleaning:
it's not a huge difference but I took off some books for school that I don't really count as part of my tbr
oooh got it down to 127 haha, we take those
oh and I guess, here is my "touching grass" photo if anyone wants to see the view from my balcony haha
Readathon books update:
📚 Finished https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1146026297068376064
📚 Started and finished Sold by Patricia McCormick (wasn't a part of my original readathon plan but 🤷♀️ )
📖 Made progress on Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft (12% -> 27%)
📗 Start and make progress on Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
📗 Start and finish Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe (My copy has flowers on the cover)
📗 Start and finish The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker (physical book)
Road trip prompt: My ideal vacation is exploring new areas, discovering new cultures, enjoying food, and experiencing new situations. I like to try all sorts of different places so I don't have a particular destination in mind but a typical vacation for me includes:
- some outdoor activity like hiking, beach time, SCUBA, or biking
- a new experience; for example snow-shoeing or horseback riding
- lots of local food, breweries, wineries, social scenes
Oh, and I prefer to go with my husband and maybe friends/family depending on what we want to experience.
what a lovely view :3
I made some cleaning...but to be honest, I started this TBR on the 1st january so there wasn't too much too clean
And I'm outing myself as a french speaker
I removed two books from my TBR list that I just am not that interested in anymore. I've cleared two off during this readathon by reading them and I intend to finish reading two more from my TBR by the end of the readathon.
So here's my checklist so far.
Oh, I marked off the pi day because I've already read over 3 hours and 14 minutes.
I still haven't tackled my romance shelf. It's going to be my biggest TBR work. I'd have to look up all the books and read their blurbs because there is no way I'd remember any of them or why I added them
(it is also almost 400 books big..)
yeah sometimes i just add books that i think look interesting and then when i go back to my tbr im like
why did i add this
Wow. My whole TBR was 35 books at the beginning of this readathon.
I'm just such a big mood reader and when I get a mood I go on a research spree looking for my next read and find like 20 books that fits that specific mood and it just kind of grew out of control
NEW books are always shinier than the ones on my TBR
I’m scared to look into my TBR

But maybe I’ll find the courage to clean it up some time this week
you can do it! I believe in you!
oh boy that is a chonker
can only go down from there though ... right?
The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar for flowers on the cover!
pretty flowers!
This is me. Enjoying the greenery (
) of my urban jungle while doing an walk+audiobook. Look! There is even a tree!
I never answered the road trip question: One day, I'd like to take one of those (tiny) cruise ship tours that Norway has. Going up the entire coast, while teasing of possible seal or even whale sightings. I'd love to see ALL the fjords of Norway and not just the ones I grew up with. I'd love the boat up one way, then a hotel visit a few days in the hope for some pretty lights and then a train ride home. In my ideal scenario, my husband would not be a creature that get violently travel sick so I wouldn't need to choose between human suffering or having company.
this sounds like a really great holiday
My card! I've only finished Blood and Buttercup (I was disappointed that the flowers on the cover wasn't actual buttercups until they appeared in the book and the heroine gently informed me they're also known as Persian Buttercups). I'll finish the physical book in a few days I think.
Roadtrip:
My ideal vacation is anywhere, as long as I get to sightsee with friends or family and enjoy the food there and their culture and go shopping.
I would really love to go to Japan and visit the pokemon center or a themed café.
Spring is Sprung: I did not read the book I was planning to read for this prompt.
But Daisy has daisies in her hair and name so I’m counting that as well.
finished a woman is no man!
This is such a cool card format.

okay!!
Okay for my Spring Cleaning, I'm going to go through all my BRs and start leaving ones that I am not going to be able to get the book from a Library
Most of them should be fine but this habit I have of joining them because the summary sounds cool is not sparking joy for the long term
kauli you crushed it! And this looks so lovely, you picked a great spot
This is so real of you, I hope it feels good to clean that up a bit!

I'm not going to completely shame myself by revealing the number still left but just managed to delete 200+ books from my TBR and there are still too many
My ideal vacation...
I'm currently obssessed with the project of visiting rural China ! In any way, I think my ideal vacation has to be a trip...sometimes the rush of a trip displease me so it would be a longgg vacation so I can take my time to roar around. I'm not sure about who I would want to take on such a trip...I may not know the person yet ;)
Alternatively I would love to go back to Norway with my mother because I really cherish my memories of my previous visits and want to share that with her !
my physical book has flowers on the cover!
I really need to get a move on
that’s such a pretty cover
oh my han kang The Vegetarian audiobook edition has a flower on the cover!
I will definetely finish that before the end of the readathon
Im kinda confused so sorry for asking dumb question. Were the Pie day questions mandatory to complete the readathon, and can I still answer them?
I have heard you can complete them during the whole week !
Cleanup in aisle "tbr"!
To say I actually not done most of the prompts but still so lovely seeing everyone else’s checklists ! You’re all amazing!!

omg i’ve been wanting to read a book by her for so long, is she any good?
i do think so! i've been liking her books since her fantasteen era. this one doesn't hit the same bc its anthology tho
omg yipee thank you, will check them out next time i’m in a bookstore 👩❤️💋👩
flowers on the cover finished! one of my tbr this year bc my 2025 reading goal is to read more books from poc authors
i always love travelling because i like discovering new places and admiring beautiful sceneries, so every vacation feels fun for me...
BUT my ideal vacation is to have 1 week of perfect solitude, with unlimited iced matcha latte and thai tea, unlimited credit card from someone hella rich so i could online shop, my laptop and internet, and a bunch of books to read
also staying within walking distance to the beach, but without much car/motorcycles so i can walk comfortably. (bonus point if it's not very hot temperature-wise
)
so ehe
spring break readathon checklist done

4th book done! prettyy impressed actually of myself!!
thats a cute book what is is baout
I finished my two last books today !! It was a really pleasant conclusion to my readathon ~
Wait, that may be more pertinent
It' so pretty
Can I read a book on my balcony? It's raining so I don't want to go outside outside
For the Touch Grass prompt
I finished my physical book! So I am officially done
yes!
omg yay!! @modest lake @haughty spindle thanks for joining!
I listened to https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1331536499216224339 on audiobook while pruning today.
All of the books I read for the Readathon were physical, but for "Tech Break" I'm using Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh
now, to finish all the Readathon prompts, my dream vacation: This is maybe kind of basic but I'd really like to see Rome. I'd like to go with my partner, walk the city, see the Ancient Roman ruins and artefacts, the museums, the piazza, the Sistine Chapel, the Basilica, and alll the eating and drinking that is on offer.
and, that's everything! I had so much fun with this, thank you jana for hosting!
so ummm... i dont really get it either because it is a collection of whimsical surrealist short stories, but i believe its about complexity of life and children
the illustrations are pretty tho but my braincells were r/whoosh-ing
no worries, i’m glad you had fun!!
I’m aiming to get my last book done for this readathon I’m so glad proud of myself this time round managed to read 5 books
okay, i’m like speeding up my read of children of dune because i want the role
the readathon ends in like 1h30mins for me yipee
I still need to finish mine, but I still have 12 hours
Ahhhhhh, I thought I had all weekend! Ok, I'm going to try to speed read the rest of Catch-22 after work. I have 14 hours left.
me too lol! i didn’t even realise today was friday
Good luck! You can do it!
i’m 86% in and locking in so i hope so too!
I finished one book haha
yipee!!
i’m not going to try because i’m no where near getting the role
awwies i‘m sorry my love
yay, finished my book in time & with that all the spring readathon prompts!! i had loads of fun with this one, cannot wait for the next one
Ooh I need to finish the actual post but I think I made it
Pi Day: I read The Dark Refrain by Jessica Khoury which is book 3 in the series
Spring Is Sprung: I read Where Shadows Bloom by Catherine Bakewell
Spring Cleaning: I only got rid of like 5 books but done
Tech Break: My physical book was The Tree That Sang To Me which was one of the winners in a #966380697717702667
Road Trip: I have so many ideal vacations but I think I want to go to either France for a few days and try to speak french as much as possible, or go to the states and see a play on Broadway and then probably go to LA and chill. I'm so bad at planning holidays
Touching Grass: I'm reading The Education of Harriet Hatfield for #1324021987407822959
YIPEEE ABI
oh wait did I miss your touching grass photo
if I haven't posted one then I'll have to tomorrow because it's dark here now
i don’t think you have! idk when the readathon ends for you as well but i’ll be waiting yipee, the photo has to be sent before it ends
wow i am saying yipee so much kill me
my influence /lh

I can’t update but I finished bookshop and bonedust!!
5th book completed
Ok readathon ends in 4 hours for me and I didn't touch grass HAHA
Yeah all I did was eat a pie lmaoooo
I reached too high for the stars, I had my book ready for Spring is Sprung but I just haven't had the time
YEEESSSS! I finished in time, just need to update my graphics!
YIPEE
Today was finally warm enough to be comfortable reading outside so I got some more "touching grass" in.
Here's my checklist. I cleaned up my TBR from 35 books to 28 books.
okay if it has to be sent before it ends and I haven’t then count me out for that one
Here are my prompts. Catch-22 for pi day as it has a number in the title. I also read well over 3 hours and 14 minutes; stopped keeping accurate count, but around 35 hours.
For flowers on the cover I added Gender Queer for pictures of flowers and Flowers for Algernon for the word "Flowers" hehe.
yipee thank you for joining, cat!
Thank you! I got that entered literally right when time was up for me 😅
i’ll give out the roles and announce the people who sent in a completed checklist before the readathon ends for them in a bit, i know it’s still friday in some places
I didn't manage this time but next time
I joined a little late with poor planning but I still had a great time
don‘t worry about it vaude! i already have some things planned for next time
Even though I was only halfheartedly participating (never filled the checklist or looked for a book with flowers on the cover etc) it was fun to see all the pictures, and the pie! 💛
CONGRATS TO OUR <@&1349438044331053206> (s) YIPEEEE
thank you so much for joining this readathon, i hope you all enjoyed it as much as i did
stay tuned for the next one
the role will expire on <t:1743269400:f>
Good job Jana!
no no, good job to you!
Oooh thank you Jana, this was fun and I appreciate your planning it!
no worries, i genuinely had so much fun planning out this one, and i really appreciate you finishing up the checklist
Omg the Springbreaker role is so pretty! Well done guys!!!
I really enjoyed my very first event here, thank you Jana ~
It was the perfect entry intro my favorite season of the year
it was great to have you join us Inie
this makes me so happy inie
Yipeee!
yaayyy thank u for hosting janaa!

Thanks Jana for hosting!
with love, mother earth
the earth day readathon will go on from the 18th to the 25th of april, all-day, in your own timezones ₊‧°𐐪♡𐑂°‧₊
for this readathon i‘ve prepared some bookish related prompts and two fun games for you to do ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ)
if you complete the checklist before the readathon ends, you‘ll earn the <@&1360683302096339015> role, which comes with sweet berta
sitting next to your display name and a nice shade of green for one week!
only books started during the readathon period will count towards the prompts, but you can use one that you started before.
you can use one book for multiple prompts.
to complete the would you rather game, head over to the thread (which as of now is not made yet) and emoji react to which scenario you would prefer doing out in nature ⋆˚✿˖° ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜
i will post the game and create the thread sometime on the 18th, jana time zone (gmt+7), and i will ping the
readathonrole too. please give yourself the role so you don‘t miss it!
find the readathon role here: #roles message
to complete the rainbow card game, you can do on the card:
- paste a nature-related photo (you can find these on pinterest, or for a harder challenge, from your own gallery!) that correlates to the colour, OR
- paste a book cover or anything bookish that correlates to the colour
- do both or a mix
you do not need to read the books you choose for this card!
happy earth day everyone!
‧⁺◟꒰🕊️🌳꒱˚ ༘♡🍃
(feel free to ping me for any questions) (ㅅ´ ˘ `)
checklist and rainbow card game ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ
this slays so hard jana
This is so cool! So the rainbow chart isn't reading those books but just sharing the covers?
I love these little readathons, looking forward to this!
you slay!!
yes!! no reading, just sharing covers or anything nature related :))
i always love to see you here britt
super excited for this!
(so excited that i may have gone looking for covers for the rainbow game already 🙈 )
i‘m so glad
🤍
(and same, me too LOL)
a readathon over my birthday, hell yeah
thank you jana!
omg, i really need to get better with dates as i completely missed it was going to be your sweet birthday too
Ooo totally forgot about this haha!! I’m so excited for this one
question about the prompts bingo with sunshine on window is that for book related or that going on natuure walks etc adding the photos in?
book related! so all the four prompts on the second card are bookish
Ahh thank you Jana !! I’m planning my reads for this
one book I’m unsure of the colour would you say this is more purple than indigo? I think purple but need a second opinion on this one
Omgg that‘s when i got time off of work
so excited already
erm it can be used for both, i think. i‘m not very strict with the rainbow card
Slay! Thank you ! Wanted to double check anyway

so...about the book that is mostly set outdoors... the terror is set on a ship, which basically outdoor right
I'm trying to finish it so hard so if I had to use only 1 book from before the readathon period, that must be it
of course!! can’t wait to see what you come up with ◡̈
not really (i’m so sorry) unless the story takes place where they’re outdoors and not inside the ship loads
I might be tad annoying myself asking these questions these prompts I really want to stick with get the earth role
I’ve figured out my rainbow challenge already this is what I have planned so far for the colours
'm glad you don't have to read the rainbow books my brain might've exploded
if i'm reading correctly LMAOO
yeah, i get it
i just wanted us to show appreciation for mother earth LOLs and i really love rainbows personally so i wanted to see how you’d all make your own 🌈
me personally i’m going to do a mix and match of both nature and books 🤍
i'll try to find as many nature ones as i can
so excited to see everyone’s rainbows :3
This is the cutest thing I've ever seen
someone needs to start recommending small poetry collections because I dont got a favorite
Come join #1356409890259734580 !
I think I have some others though, I'll take a look
am happy to recommend a few in #1059881951542116462 in a bit 🙂
some of my favourite poets are mahmoud darwish and rumi! for this prompt though i’ll be reading things you may find hidden in my ear
i desperately need it to be friday so i can start this omg
same!!! i'm very excited about the rainbow challenge!
me too!! i know what i want to be mine of & i can’t wait to see all of yours
🤍
This time I'm going to plan properly
storygraph challenge for anyone who needs it
with love, mother earth
the poetry prompt is optional as you can either read or share.
i didn‘t include the cli-fi prompt as it‘s not necessary for you to read it but if anyone wants it added there, let me know! i‘ll add it as a bonus prompt.
im pretty sure that SG counts book you have started before as long as you finish within the timeframe so you can set it to the date without it being a problem
me toooo i have everything planned. ready to go i wanna start the tbr so badly lmaooo
I am definitely not a poetry girly so I'm going to try to read some
I’m going book shopping Thursday what would you recommend for a poet read I’ve not read any before .. I want to tick it off for the prompts
And a climate fiction
I have a climate nonfiction
@elfin barn do you think finding bear could count as climate fiction?
I'd say so! It's mentioned multiple times how climate change is affecting the bears' natural habitat and it factors into the plot too
thank youuu
what would class as climate fiction i dont think i have any books on my kindle fo it
fiction about the climate
yeah i dont tthink i have anyting for that gonna have to searrch it
tricky for me this one the rest is okay tofind tho lol
you got this
you could probably find a poetry/climate fic mix
hmm
i can giveit a go middle grade but idk
https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1348050017092370494 has been nominated for a cli-fi award if that's on your tbr
ooohhh i have seen this on tiktok actuually! thank you Abi
as is #1332985803210752063 which is shorter
oooo probs the shorter verrsion will suit best for this readathon !! thank you for the suggestions appreciate eyouu!!!
think im gonna go fo the orbital one
for you @inner trench
I think that's gonna be my pick too!
slayy!! i love its short too will hopefully be quick paste
@inner trench thank you tho forr trying to help out too bestiee
@kauliflower
thank you tho forr trying to
help out too bestiee
thank you haiku
since when was climate fiction a thing woah

a special kiss bob from kauli!!

You guys do realize we dont have to read the climate fiction right?
like we should, but the prompt is to recommend one or to add one to our tbr
i just want to read one for the prompt too
i shall recommend my middle grade climate fics when the readathon begins
I thought we did have to read it for the prompts
The only read prompts is
- Read a book mostly set in outdoors
- Read a book with a bright cover
- Share poetry or read a poetry collection
It's nice, I mean you CAN read a book for each prompt, but this way people can get away with only reading a single book in the week the readathon lasts.
ooohhhh ty dot
makees more sense now tbh
emily dickinson or edgar allan poe
for the love of poetry pls no one get rupi kaur
OOOH ill have a look i got half an hour to kill so will look in the poetry section
i love edgar allan poe and emily dickinson poems and i have both the collections
yeah, and also i don’t know if you knew but you also don’t have to read the books for the rainbow card. telling you just in case
Ohh I want too anyway
alright
I got the colours all planned anyways for the rainbow card
I will just read for everything
Also, idk if I've said it yet but Thank you for making another great challenge! It's going to be really fun
I really appreciate how accessible you make these shortish readathons as well.
I may belong to the group that has enough time to read multiple books a week but I know not everyone does, and having the ability to decide the difficulty yourself while still being part of the challenge is really nice!
awww i really appreciate this dot!
🤍 genuinely thank you 🤍 i wanted the readathons to be on the chiller side and so i’m glad that it has the effects i wanted it to 🤍
speaking of which @elfin barn would you like for me to add the cli fi prompt to the sg challenge as a bonus prompt?
iirc you use storygraph challenges ahh i’m sorry if you don’t
ooh yes if you could ❤️
yay! i’ll add it in after dinner 🤍
do people think this is appropriately bright/sunny enough for the sunshine on the window prompt?
yes!!
i’ll be using https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1361365172744355911 for my bright cover
side note i hope inie joins i haven’t seen her around in a while
Who’s that😭
@modest lake
Ooh
updated the storygraph challenge to include cli-fi!
I'm there ><
But I haven't planned my books yet...just pretty colors for the rainbow ~
OMG HII
i hope the ping didn’t bother you! sorry! i had missed seeing you around
i hope you’ve been doing well inie 🤍
I hope you did too !!
I have to admit though, one of my books put me in a reading slump last week
oh no, which one was it?
A day of fallen night by samatha shannon...I read the first book years ago and can't believe this one doesn't work for me !!
awww no i’m so sorry to hear that

i hope you enjoy the books you pick up
I hope so too :>
readathon tomorrrwwwww im so excited
ME TOO ARHRHRHRHRHRH
12 for me
That gif reminds me I forgot to take my meds 😂
LMAOO
I always forget, we can carry on with books we've started I hope?
only one!
it wasn‘t clarified in the last readathon so i made sure to do it now
Thank you lovely!
I wonder if How to Solve Your Own Murder is considered a bright cover? Nothing in my TBR screams bright other than this or Bunny due to its hot pink cover
I'm thinking of starting either one for the Readathon which is just 45 minutes away
Exactly
I think all colors other than black is bright
yes it is bright
and yes @faint gust how to solve your own murder is bright
yayy! thank u jana
(I dont have to go back to Evelyn Hardcastle yet
)
(are you not enjoying evelyn hardcastle?)
totally valid
i will lurk the thread for your thoughts
so i'll start a new book
HELL YEA
IRS STARTING FOR ME
would i like to get through some of my physical tbr? yes
-# but did i also buy myself a second (smaller) kobo for my birthday n i want to use that all the time right now? yes :)
this readathon will hopefully be half ebooks half physical books
i support whatever you do kauli
thats because ur a cutie !!!
starting how to solve your own murder with a cup of coffee because tomorrow's a day off
I’m trying to finish off my current read quick so I’m fresh for the readathon tomorrow 🥲
# nature walk; bug boys, the salt path, anne of green gables
-# read a book that is mostly set outdoors
# sunshine on the window; bug boys, life hacks for a little alien
-# read a book with a bright cover
# pocket poetry; n/a
_ _
i have no clue what to do for pocket poetry
if anyone could recommend some nature-themed short poetry collections it'd be greatly appreciated
i don't read poetry because it always makes me feel dumb
Emily Dickinson has wonderful nature poems that are very easy to get into!! There are so many short poetry collections inspired by her, i'm sure you'd find one available to you :3
oh yeah, i'd love to recommend you a specific one but I only have her entire poetry collection (big chonker) and one collection in German :( <3
thank you anyway :3
i will try to find one that's not too expensive
but i knew this would be the hardest prompt for me
omg ok im actually gonna try and participate in this one finally!!! I should have loads of reading time
me too!!

I didn't even think about this one. I am on buddy read and haven't started this so I might as well do it for this readathon :). Thanks
i’m going out to do a bit of shopping for a ballet i’m seeing tomorrow and will squeeze in reading every now & then
jana what is the would you rather game?
the thread isn’t up yet
i’ve set it up though so going to ping everyone in it soon, it’s a secret thread
@everyone sorry for this ping but i‘ve just pinged the readathon role in the would you rather thread!
you can only see it if you have the readathon role though, so make sure to get it here #roles message if there are any issues feel free to ping me 🤍
thread: https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1362470027487346970
here is my rainbow card 🌈 i really love tulips so i chose to base my card around that 🤍
i have the role and it still don’t show up am i the only one? could u pls ping me in it?
READATHON STARTED FOR ME LETS GOOO
couldn’t finish my current read on time aiming to finish today tho so I can start my rainbow theme for books
Okay good start, I have my bright cover done but it's an ebook.
(and also it's a book I started before the Readathon)
YAYY
i think it’s because you’re in zen mode!
i left but it still shows up as unknown, thats alright
My rainbow card!!! I recently got into film photography and I’ve selected photos I took recently that fit the color themes!! Yay for spring 🌸 🌼
@potent obsidian Sorry to ping I started this book yesterday for clarification does that still count to log for the readathon? That I finished today?
wanted to double check before logging it
@distant dew
Aye thank you kauli
somehow miss these messages

i'll be carrying over 'anne of green gables' by l.m montgomery which is perfect for the 'nature walk' prompt !!
-# i read about 20% last night, i wanted to start it today instead but i was not having a good night so i let myself read
My rainbow card 🌷 I added some good books I read in 2024
i’m outside right now & will figure it out when i get home, although just now when i tried to ping you i think you were back in zen mode
naya is too zen for her own good
no worries for the ping, also you can find almost all the information in the pins if you check it out, and if it’s not there or if you’re unsure about something then yeah feel free to ping me!
Thank you lovely !
no worries night!!
my rainbow card! added covers of books im planning to read as well as some stuff from my gallery
Having a cheeky reading session in coffee shop before shopping begins
i don’t remember if this was asked already but i have climate nonfiction too. is it strictly fiction? im 90% sure but just wanna check before i look for another
@dreamy swift @steady delta sorry for how late this reply is but yes climate non-fict is fine!
LOOKS SO CUTEE i love it
oh lol I just found one fiction
I added Neal Shusterman's Dry to my TBR since I love most of his work already and it is abt drought apocalypse.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38355098-dry
i love it!!

okay you’re so talented and the violet photo is to die for
for the rainbow prompt I used crystals and minerals cos sparkly earth things
so pretty and shiny and sparkly ✨
and for the poetry prompt i will be rereading these two and my favourite poems of Poe are Dream-Land and Lenore (becos of SOTR). Emily Dickinson’s poems dont have titles so I will just share a pic
my progress so far
I did this whilst was in stuck in traffic was fun to do!! Didn’t want to send incase it got sent twice ! But here’s my rainbow! 🌈
okay that violet cover is BEAUTIFUL
Thank you jana!! Took a while to find the voilet one

For my Cli-Non-Fi I have Islands of Abandonment!
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41830657-islands-of-abandonment
I read this a few years ago; it was beautiful and haunting
this has been on my tbr for a little while.
my rainbow! i chose to use the covers of books i've read in the past month 😊
continuing my read after good friday service! still on the first book, but i'll tackle the rainbow challenge today
if anyone would like a recommendation for a nature poetry collection:
i'm currently reading National Geographic Book of Nature Poetry edited by J. Patrick Lewis. it was in the children's section of my library, likely because it has big, beautiful pictures! but it's full of lovely poems all about nature
Question: my new current book Harry Potter for climate prompt can that be added in? as its middle grade for genre? 😭
Thank you for this!!! Been looking for poetry that vibes with spring too 😭
progress so far during the readathon!
adding in my tbr i have planned too

i don’t think so, it being middle grade doesn’t make it climate fic
harry potter is pretty much everything but climate fic
dang it will have. to think of something else would read the books. u and abi suggested but dont wanna buy a new book on kindle. to read
i think you can add a cli-fi to your tbr to complete the prompt
library?
which book would fit i mainly rread romance
abi linked a list here: #1317460623767900291 message
iknu just finding it hard to pick
espcially coming out myy comfort zone to rread
The Mars House by Natasha Pulley is on the list abi linked and is also classified as a romance!
ooooohhhh ill look. that up thank you love!! <33
beautiful spread & beautiful choice 🤍
no because harry potter is not climate fiction!
and you don’t have to read the climate fiction book to checklist the prompt!
I'm adding several cli-fi to my TBR, but I'd like to share 1 book that piqued my interest based on the blurb:
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
In 2024, with the world descending into madness and anarchy, one woman begins a fateful journey toward a better future.
Lauren Olamina and her family live in one of the only safe neighborhoods remaining on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Behind the walls of their defended enclave, Lauren’s father, a preacher, and a handful of other citizens try to salvage what remains of a culture that has been destroyed by drugs, disease, war, and chronic water shortages. While her father tries to lead people on the righteous path, Lauren struggles with hyperempathy, a condition that makes her extraordinarily sensitive to the pain of others.
When fire destroys their compound, Lauren’s family is killed and she is forced out into a world that is fraught with danger. With a handful of other refugees, Lauren must make her way north to safety, along the way conceiving a revolutionary idea that may mean salvation for all mankind.
This has been the winner of 2 literary awards too, so I'm very curious about it
oh that book was a br and i forget how i felt about it
THERE WAS A BR?
yes babe!! one sec i’ll link it
@faint gust https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1281155066518175776 it was hosted by the lovely amanda
I have Kindred from the same author on my loooong TBR, but when I found this blurb- I just know I had to add this one
oooh id still love to read something for climate fiction to even com out my comfort zone doing these prompts is fun keeps my brain going fo suree tho lmaoo thank u janaaa sorry fo beeing a pain with these questions i like to be double. checking with stuff lool
absolutely not being a pain, no worries!
i’d actually like to see your thoughts on it 👀
it as in parable of the sower
appreciate youu!!! <33
@honest pewter i downloaded that book was only 99p on kindle lool gonna give it a go !!
i hope you enjoy! i've added it to my TBR as well 😄

Hopefully it can climb up to the top of my never ending TBR pile
Somehow because I'm a mood reader, I feel more excited if I'm joining BRs hence my TBR is never shortened
But I saw a lot of people wanting to read the second book! So that gives me hope
being a mood rreader i totally get it honestly has it pros and cons
why i love joining theese readathons can still somehow get books off my tbr list
had a busy day today and didnt do much reading

Trainspotting - Irvine Welsh (I started the audiobook but I cannot get past the Scottish? Accent so imma just read with my eyes
)
I‘m putting a hold on The End We Start From by Megan Hunter for adding a Cli-Fi to my TBR
I just discovered it while looking through Cli-Fi my library has in its availability and I‘m excited to read about this family trying to survive an environmental crisis in London

I can't believe I found enough pictures to fill this
My old phone drowned recently so I didn't have many choices
It's so pretty
i did my rainbow challenge according to the sailor scouts because i wanna read the mangas this readathon for #sailor-moon
the square format doesn‘t do the colours enough justice
sorry if that pinged you jana, i wanted to use berta as a little checkmark
THIS IS SO SMART
omg it actually just became available
unfortunately cannot recommend because discord makes it incredibly frustating to use (at least that was my experience)
can recommend just downloading berta and using canva tho
dont worry about pings rin!!
(especially from you) 👩❤️💋👩
omg did you take all of these?!! GORGEOUS
I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO DO THIS /POS
very pretty

-# studio ghibli rainbow
LOVEEEEE
my studio ghibli bun bun
blaah wait it says nature related photos
i can technically
argue that these are all nature related

lets hear it /lh

photo one; ponyos mother, literal sea goddess woman thing, protects the sea
photo two; a fire !! fire is pretty natural right
yes most fire doesn't have eyes, but still!
photo three; little soot sprites around the shoes !! they are little creatures. little creatures = nature related (they are literally dust/soot, very natural indeed)
photo four; grass
photo five; in the uncropped version of the picture she is collecting spores from weird little fungi* in the woods
photo six; the sea !!! ponyo !! little creature. remember, little creature = nature related
photo seven; ...cat?
i'm definitely not
coping
because i want my studio ghibli rainbow

lovely arguments if i ever get in trouble i‘d want you to be my lawyer
and cats are part of nature!!
obc would visit u in prison
<3
im so glad you did a studio ghibli card, very you in the bestest way possible

Red - Scarlet macaw
Orange - Orangutan
Yellow -bumblebee
Green - green tree python
Blue - blue Jay
Indigo - hyacinth macaw
Violet - Lavender hognose
would a book set in a ship under the sea count as “outdoors”
it’s into the drowning deep, they’ve spent lots of time outdoors so far
#1317460623767900291 message this is what i said to another ship related question! (im sending this because sometimes my brain is willy wonka and has two different answers)
thank you sweet jana!
the macaws are so cute
i love Macaws
i made sure when i was in jyttland to see some and they were some of the birds species i travelled to germany to see
I did !! Thanks hehe ~~
I love looking at our rainbows
So pretty
me too! i love seeing what we chose to create it around 🤍 🌈
and how we interpret nature (or books) & what it means
i dnf‘ed sons, daughters because the writing was tedious and im starting https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1344573789488414772
i dont think ill have a set readathon tbr this time, minus the 3 books for the readathon prompts
might read quite a few graphic novels for this readathon, hope thats okay
it runs over my birthday weekend/ bday times so i'll be a little too busy to read like normal
its okay kauli! all reading is good reading
i also just added water baby to my tbr so thats my cli-fi, im planning on starting next month and maybe requesting a br.
i'm now 32% through 'anne of green gables', will hopefully read another big chunk when i'm in bed (not too far away
)
50% of Harry Potter for the readathon ! I’m hoping maybe I can finish it before sleep since I’m nearly done
Even if it takes me till 10pm
i need to be like you night and think that 10pm is late /gen /pos
10pm is when i go for a shower
ooof oh no
blaah i'm normally falling asleep at 10
for me 10pm is superr late way past my bed time
i keep on wanting to fix my sleep schedule but i cant
yes and no, it's usually because i couldn't sleep the night before :')
so ill miss an entire nights sleep
i go to sleep at 8pm or 9
i believe in you
when its weekends tho sleep schedule doesnt count LOL
thank you cookie
sending sleepy dust ur way
||-# this sounds like im giving you drugs, i am not <3||
my melatonin pills appreciate you
I would like to read a book about trail for the outdoor prompt but I'm not sure which
Funny fact : the one and only ( yet ) draft I wrote IS about trail :>
Funny fact : the one
and only ( yet ) draft I wrote
IS about trail :>
Aww
trail?
Hiking ?
aah the only walking/travel related book i have on my tbr is this nonfic
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38085814-the-salt-path?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_13
Maybe not what you were thinking, but I have a non-fiction book on my TBR that is called The Lost Art Of Reading Nature Signs
But it's 400 pages so it's a bit chunky for the readathon
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22580996-the-lost-art-of-reading-nature-s-signs
The cover is really cute!
Thank you !!
Maybe not for the readathon but that will be a super gift for a family member !!!
Just imagine how nice it would be to peruse it over breakfast and tea in the morning?
loool true im like 30 odd pgsbeefore finishing tho i wanna start a new book tomorrow morning
question: where should we share our favorite poem? here or in https://discord.com/channels/811077227449286667/1059881951542116462 ? or elsewhere?
it would be cool to post it in poetry imo, together with where it came from. It might make people outside the event read it and want to read the collection/author it came from
I FINISHED Harry pottter!!
here is good, but you can also put it in #1059881951542116462
but ideally i'd like it here too so i can keep track that you've done the prompt
okay! in that case: my favorite nature-related poem is There Will Come Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale
There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound; And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white,Robins will wear their feathery fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done. Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree
If mankind perished utterly; And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone.
wow that is beautiful
also i dont know if this needs to be said but you're responsible for keeping track of your own checklist
I also wanna share my fav poem of nature but for the prompt i actually wanna read Rainer Maria Rilke‘s Spring
How happy is the little Stone
That rambles in the Road alone,
And does'nt care about careers
And Exigencies never fears -
Whose Coat of elemental Brown
A passing Universe put on,
And independent as the Sun
Associates or glows alone,
Fulfilling absolute Decree
In casual simplicity
Emily Dickinson
i love poetry of nature, this inspired me to put some of my favs on empty pages in my journal
beautiful 🤍
Did you discover this in a collection? I‘d love to check it out if so
i did not! i had to memorize it waaay back in high school, and it's stuck with me ever since
however, the site i linked says it's in the collection "The Language of Spring: Poems for the Season of Renewal" edited by Robert Atwan 😄
Thank you!! I did check the link but I missed that it literally says that on there omg so sorry

it's okay!! ❤️ it got me to look it up, and i'm going to try and find that collection as well
Here's my nature rainbow. It was fun to look back through my photos.
okay these pics are stunning and the orange one blew my mind
finished how to solve your own murder! i'll read bunny next while look for book set in outdoors
try this again loool

how are you liking anne?
it’s such a massive part of the culture where I grew up hahaha, my grandma took us on an Anne tour when we were kids
I started into the drowning deep yesterday
i’m really liking it ms jnix
i’m about 40% through but im going to slow down as i wouldn’t like to blow through it too quickly—i’ll pick something else up in the meantime. :3
it makes me feel very happy
but like i said, i want to slow down & read something else alongside it
to savour it i suppose :’)
totally understand
it’s a really comfy cozy book
I made my rainbow card out of BRs - the last one I read, the one I'm reading currently, and a few more that I've signed up for but haven't read yet
I'm not a huge poetry person, not because I dislike it but just because I don't know that much about it. BUT I read The Glimpse by Walt Whitman last year and thought it really captured the quiet intimacy of a relationship that resonated more with me than sweeping or extravagant love poems. I also really love this depiction of queer love in the midst of performative masculinity. Here it is:
A glimpse through an interstice caught,
Of a crowd of workmen and drivers in a bar-room around the stove late of a winter night, and I unremark’d seated in a corner,
Of a youth who loves me and whom I love, silently approaching and seating himself near, that he may hold me by the hand,
A long while amid the noises of coming and going, of drinking and oath and smutty jest,
There we two, content, happy in being together, speaking little, perhaps not a word.
I also took a look at the Climate Fiction Prize and decided to add Water Baby by Chioma Okereke to my TBR https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6f9bf4d3-e602-4cf1-bd82-551366cfbcb3

sorry for all the messages
i’m struggling to read anything so i’m probably going to have a bad readathon again
I feel you kauli, I'm going to spend the whole readathon reading the same book, and that book doesn't fit any of the prompts or anything
dont be sorry britt!
and honestly no such thing as a bad readathon
the role is there sort of just to give people something to work towards but ultimately the end goal is to just read whatever 🤍 i might not be able to finish this readathon myself as i might not have a book for the outdoor prompt
but im pretty chill with the prompts and all that so no worries—like for the outdoor prompt for example, if your character has more than 2 scenes or so of them being outside it counts!
i just want everyone to read and have fun 🤍 absolutely no pressure 🤍
the next readathon prompts will be more relaxed
I have too many other type of books going on for the theme of the readathon, same as last time.. but I see it as a motivation really
also i love that youve done it with buddy reads 🤍 really makes me happy seeing all the ways people are filling their cards up
im glad you see it as motivation!!
Me too! I thought it was cool that there were so many diverse BRs that I was able to fill out the whole rainbow
cult of buddy reads
I don't think the prompts this time was too harsh.
Technically, people just need to read a single book.
You could have potentially done "a book about nature or animals" instead of outdoor, that could be more free'ing.
I think you do such a good job of making these accessible already!
i didnt do that because its already a prompt in the spring bingo and also really i didnt think it would be hard to find a book that has at least 2 scenes of the characters in the outdoors,, will remember this for next time
and thank you dot
I'm also not sure to finish this readathon because I have no inspiration for the outdoor prompt...but I like taking part
I don't think the prompt are hard at all, on the contrary, but my mood just doesn't match them this time !!
( well, just the outdoor one, poetry is exciting
)
no worries, im always glad still at any participation ♡
ooooh my book has loads of scenes outdoors
excellent
egg-cellent
cutie!
just silly*
As a general, but short, recommendation for the outdoor prompt for the people who struggle I recommend the Wayward Children by Seanan McGuire
They're all one-shots, all novellas, and most of them take place with large parts outside.
The series is about children who slip through cracks into other worlds, think Alice in Wonderland. Some go, and it's wonderful. Others go, and it's a nightmare. So it can be a little dark at times (but they're not listed as horror)
I read Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear in January which feature a mostly underwater world with giant turtles (that speak!). But to get there, she also walks through a large forest. (and I think being under the ocean should count as outdoor anyways)
@potent obsidian
Those it count if I share a tiny bit of poetry from Faust that I really liked?
Here is my rainbow card! All featuring future Buddy Read & Event books!
whats the green one
The hypocrite, it's a BR that ends June 20th (and it's short)
The actual picture is a beach so I have no clue why they made it green tinted but it was the closest to green I had
oh yeah i know about the br i just didnt regonize the cover
Sooo...I finished a poetry collection I started this month ! I think it was the first real collection I read !
I mostly enjoyed it but the nature topic was pretty heavy for me. It helped that a friend annotated it for me <3
And the one poem I want to remember of this book is this one
| Chien de fusil
Corps en chien de fusil
Dans un rai de lumière
Tunnel incandescent
Où danse la poussière
Corps en chien de fusil
Ondulant immobiles
Le désir côté pile
Et les chairs à vif
Corps en chien de fusil
Deux nageurs siamois
Qui regagnent la rive
Baignant dans les étoiles
Corps en chien de fusil
Corps en chiens de faience
| Gun Dog
Body like a gun dog
In a beam of light
An incandescent tunnel
Where dust dances
Body like a gun dog
Swaying, motionless
Desire on one side
And flesh laid bare
Body like a gun dog
Two Siamese swimmers
Returning to shore
Bathed in the stars
Body like a gun dog
Body like porcelain dogs
Sorry for the spam
Ohh ya I also finished a poetry collection - Helen of Troy, 1993 by Maria Zoccola
I really dig it! It’s based on the Helen of Troy myth but set in contemporary America (Tennessee). Sharing one of the poems here:
sure yeah, go ahead
omg i did not catch that cover of the hypocrite.. beautiful!!
dont be sorry for spamming inie and thats such a lovely poem
I LOVE THIS
thank you for sharing!
For the Bright cover prompt I read the Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu. It is a 5 star short story read imo and I hope if you get the chance you give it a try. It only took me about 20mins to read it and it touched me so much. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39803561-the-paper-menagerie
okay i just finished my first book of the readathon, on the calculation of volume i by solvej balle
& ill be using it for the nature walk prompt as there are more than 2 scenes of the characters being outside
im outside so dont have access to my paperback books so ill probably just start something else from my google books wishlist
used 'a torch against the night' by sabaa tahir for the nature walk prompt and 'the seven year slip' by ashley poston for the sunshine on the window prompt
also i dont know a thing about poetry. does anybody have any recommendations for beginners?

Don‘t worry I deleted it for you!
thank you rin!!! idk what it did to trigger that!

Sometimes the bot just does that idk why
thank you for deleting it! <33
yeah same all the poetry i've read was for english class
thank you!
@potent obsidian I'm sorry, I'm really dumb about discord stuff but I have no idea how to find the ' would you rather ' thread
dont worry about it love, ill ping you in it!
Thank you Jana !! 🤍
I'm reading " the long walk " by richard bachman for the outdoor prompt and it's difficultttt
I can't say for sure yet but I think I recommend that book
why do you only think you recommend it?
oh man that one is brutal
Because I'm only one tird in !!
you've been reading botm w me
im really zooming thru it becos normally it takes me longer to read so many pages and im not even a mystery genre reader really so im happy w my progress and w reading the poetry books and short story
!!!
I'm not really feeling the pull to read it, usually I'm really into a book or I feel the weight of the deadline and want to finish in time. The book is good but I don't really feel pressed to read it
for some reason the urge to read less is hitting me during the readathon but im close to finishing the prompts, and ive finished my second book with the file of h. by ismail kadare
im going to start a poetry collection by herman gorter next
donesies
for the nature walk prompt - #1354875065564401829
omg yay!! 🫶
for the pocket poetry prompt, i would like to share a poem by robert frost
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
its a classic poem, like the rest of robert frost's poems
i dont know many poets, but out of all of them i would say robert frost is my favourite. i love the simplicity in his poetry, the way he describes simple, everyday events and uses them as metaphors and gives them meaning
in this poem, the woods are supposed to represent wildness and act a temptation drawing you away from life's responsibilities. i wouldn't have guessed that by reading the poem, but what drew me to it was the visuals. whatever the poem means, it still paints a very pretty picture, and thats something i look for a lot in poetry, something i can easily visualise and understand without jumping through any hoops
HAHAHAA i hope you had fun with the pressure <333
thats beautiful ♡
added 'the fifth season' by n k jemisin for the climate-fiction prompt. and done with the checklist!
HELL YEAA thank you for joining! 🫶
i have been swamped wirh work and havent done any reading
I missed this readathon, but I'm excited to join the next one again!
The readathon isn't finished yet
the upcoming days I'm happy to have a single hour to read
don't think I can read 2 books in that limited time 😂 😭
may I suggest
short stories
woah Big Brain moment
Now to find the proper short stories
may I recommend this one !
thanks!!
i finished the checklist too YIPEE
i switched the books around a little bit though.
i love that for you
its a book that is specifically only set indoors and is not bright at all
so it does not fit any prompt LMAOO
AHAHA thats ok! any reading is good reading 🫶
might have to find some cute picture books
I'm having issues finding an cli-fi book to add to my TBR so I asked an AI and they recommended The House in the Cerulean Sea and I would NOT call that cli-fi
the ai overlords are letting me down
I did read my first poetry collection!
Poems for the end of the world by Katie Wismer
It was very simple, (and short) but I liked it!
My favorite part was probably
I've lived inside of my head
for so long
sometimes I forget
there's an entire world
outside of it
Ta-da! I'm done!
Poetry - poems for the end of the world
Nature Walk / Bright Cover - Cats of Tanglewood Forest
Cli-fi TBH - The Drowned World
sorry, but why didn’t you just do a google search instead of asking ai?
ooh also, forgot to mention but i pinned a list sent in by abi! :)) you need to scroll a little though
oh! i was desperate, I did a search and looked at some articles but like NOTHING looked interesting
Windows installs copilot automatically (which is an ai) so sometimes when I'm stuck I see if it'll help with my problem
the drowned world is a classic tho, and it's under 200 pages and it keeps getting recommended in these lists so I was just like
also oo love this poem
my rainbow is made of tbrs and flowes because my tbr is not varied enough to have some colors
also i'm not sure how to share my favorite poem because it's in Bahasa Indonesia
I added 3 climate fictions to my tbr...just so I'm sure I end up reading one !!
The Mars Hous, the ministry of time and privates rites !
I translated mine as best as I could
My favorite poem is titled Aku Ingin, or I Wish, by Sapardi Djoko Damono
TMI I actually musicalized this poem for my high school's practical exam!
I wish to love you simply;
like the silence of the wood,
how it would never reach to whisper to the flame before it vanishes for good.
I wish to love you gently;
like the cloud's unspoken plea,
longing to speak to the rain before they meet and sets them free.
I wish to love you modestly;
like how the flame that loves the air,
happy to burn brighter in their grace just to vanish, unaware.
I wish to love you purely;
like a cloud that loves the sky,
surrendering without a word into its embrace, fading softly as it flies away.
I love how it captures love in such romantic and selfless yet passionate thing
SO CUTEE
omg this is beautiful wth
i knooww he made such beautiful poems
I've been reading the poetry collection milk and honey by Rupi Kaur and just came across this one that I love (and also happens to not contain adult content or potential triggers which is rare for this collection)
wow, thats really lovely. i think i read it too when i was younger, i feel like its a very familiar poem 🤍
oh, this is the last day of the readathon for me (
) and im just going to spend the day reading king leopolds ghost
I finished my book !! I read ' the long walk ' by Richard Bachman for the outdoor prompt !
It broke my heart but I can only recommend it. I don't think I will reread that book one day but it may stay in my memories as one of my favourites
I also started the paper menagerie because 1. It did look good 2. I've come so far, it would be dumb not to finish that readathon
Finished !! I'm didn't think I would
- The paper menagerie broke my heart || don't hurt mothers
|| - The long walk also broke me ||
|| - The ' fenêtre sur terre' did not move me but I hope to engage more with poetry now that I read my first collection !!
omg im so glad u read it it hurt me too!
It was really good, thanks
OMG YAYYY

i am ready
