❤️❤️❤️
I have an extra Maws if you need one.
Oh yes please!
Im losing my mind
Give me 1 sec. Are you online now?
Im loading on now soon as I seen your message I began
K give me like 5 to log in.
Gotchu switch takes a min anyways lol
I'm just on World of Warcraft so I have to get to where I can log and then quit and load Palia. Lol.
All good I get it lol
Thank you sooo much!
Yw! Enjoy! Don't sell it. Use it for the last relic.
Oh no straight to my lock box
I sold all the ones I caught and ended up needing one. I was SO MAD. Lmao.
I have about 200 essence to go but im almost there. Again thank yoy sooo much and oofff
And I also gave 3 away.
Yeah it was sucky. Lol!
But I'm done with everything. So I can give them away again.
Im sadly not. I gotta do the bundles wall thingy in the temple and so far it sucks
I can help you with bundles!
We can go hunt fish and bug and I have the rest you can request.
Ignore the maws obviously lol but I have all this left
I unfortunately dont have 4 hours tonight cause I gotta get up early but id definitely love some help eventually
I dont mean tonight. Lol. I have to be up at 4am. Lmao. But when we both have time.
Oh yes I gotta be up early too lol but yes definitely
thank you again
I'll add you on Disc and just ping me on PM when you want to work on it or if I'm in game PM me there and we'll work on it.
Desperately need alligator gars to CHILL
I’m trying to catch the giant kilima stingray not fifteen hundred alligator gars

And of course now all I’m catching are beluga sturgeons 😂
HOLY-
NVM I CAUGHT IT
im really struggling to find a maws. does anyone have any tips
They are just really, really rare. It's fully down to persistence and pacing, and maybe taking advantage of trout dinner and the Fishing with Friends buff to make fish bite faster (so you can roll the dice more often in a given span of time).
I wrote up some tips on chasing hard-to-find fish here — this was about the Giant Kilima Stingray, so ignore the part at the beginning about where to find it. #🐟│fishing-mining message
For Maws, I would also recommend Major Safe Zone Size Booster hooks, as they make it much easier to reel them in successfully. (I personally stack them with brew and stew as well.)
One trick to not have to cart the hooks around in your bag all the time (they each take up one inventory slot) is to have some hanging out as unclaimed, filled requests. Plenty of people have LOTS of the hooks (we have to dump our fishing medals on something), so don't be shy to request them and mention it in chat.
Also, as a note, you have some options as far as where to fish! If you don't care for the atmosphere out west by De Mer and Mauvais, you can also fish in any of the water in the Deep Woods, including by the aqueduct to the south. It's easier to find nodes along the western coast, though, if you need a starred or infected one.
For context, most epic fish tend to be (very approximately) in the 1-2% drop rate range (1/100 to 1/50).
Legendaries seem to show up approximately one-fifth as often as epics (~0.2 to 0.4%), or in other words, between 1/500 and 1/250 drop chance.
(These are all eyeball estimates based on experience, but not records per se — if you're got actual post-EW stats, I'm all ears!)
So basically.... expect to run through 500 attempts, perhaps as many as 1,000, before that Maws shows up on your line. And if you get it before then, awesome luck!
But you also don't have to sit through all of those attempts all at once :)
when i finally see it how hard is it to catch
Similar pattern to the Lake Shark, but less energetic/doesn't move as fast
ok thank you i will keep trying
*pompoms!*
I'll try maybe 1 week of full fishing to get 1 maws, it's pretty long, but when the Maws plushies is in game, it take me 2 try to get it, so it's good RNG 🥲
Does anyone have guidance on how to catch this Maws, I went through hooks left and right yesterday, pretty disheartening game wise to see so many are having issues with it. Tips? Guidance that will save headaches or just skipping that all together and forget brighteye?
If you need one for the recipe, can you request one from the crafting interface? I don't know if that still works or not.
And unfortunately, there isn't anything that affects the odds of a Maws being the fish that bites your line. If you scroll up a bit, we were just talking about how to tackle things: a lot of it is a mental game, tbh
Fixing to request it but I highly doubt anyone has any to spare lol but thank you.
Fixing to scroll up, I have seen a few conversations on how hard it is to actually catch it, I will read what y'all had to say above, thank you for the guidance! x
Is it for the relic you need one? If so, add me and I'll hook you up with one. I got like 4 laying about in my storage.
Yes, the Brighteye
Wait what?
Yh, lantern. Not bag 🤦 can hook you up with both a pearl and maws if you want. Just add me in game and request.
I just added you
You rock and roll, I try not to ask for anything but the horror stories I have read on this puts one off lol. I will catch that maws and return it to you, count on it and thank you so much! x
No worries. I fish on de mer dock quite alot so I get it from time to time. I'm actually hunting maws right now, starred. I need it for my shark tank room.
Sigh, yeah there is that I will need to do as well, I don't mind all of the other fish but this one has had me putting this quest off
You using any fishermans brew? Sushi? And what type of hook are you using? I don't want to have to purchase that hook from Einar as it cost fish coins 😦
Nope. I no buff fish. I know their patterns so well. I even fish one handed while scrolling on my phone. Sometimes I even dual fish with my PS5 controller in one hand and switch in the other hand 😂
Well you def have bragging rights! 🤣
Haha 😅
The Doc Holiday of fishing 😂
Why can't I smelt copper bars in my basic smelter?
I don't see a recipe for it at the blacksmith
You get the recipe from hodari. Not at the blacksmith.
Thank you
Starting to believe this giant kilima stingray is not real, almost 200 glow worms and havent seen it at all, fishing at the lake where its supposed to be
Do you mind if I also add you? I’ve been struggling for days to find a maws. No worries if you don’t feel like giving another away though!
Yh, sure. No worries 😁 I keep them just incase someone is struggling.
anyone have any god spots for palium right now? feels like its impossible to find big amounts
it tends to cluster in the caves alot probs cuz noone bothers to clear it there and if they do they clear all at once
Thank you so much!!
if i clear a cave how long does it take before it respawns?
i htink something like 20min it first does have to despawn or something but im really not sure
oki thank u ❤️
but the nodes may not necesarily respawn inthe same spot though they spawn all over that there is place
The giant kilima stringray is definitely glow worms right? Just spent 2 ingame days 3am-9pm and didnt see it at all
yes!
I think i give up for tonight then
clearly isnt gonna spawn for me
The law of RNG is you have to look for something else, then you'll get it 😂
I'm looking for the giant goldfish for approximately 200 glow worms ....
and in palia if u complain u get it
worked for my infected maws and plush and starred elderflower and elder smole plush
in a single hour^
Imma look for a piranha then
Just wondering if anyone has a spare inyrevn mermaid. I got lucky enough to get one, but sold before I knew I would need it.
I can’t catch this hypnotic moray ive been fishing Pavel cave any other suggestions
I caught 1 Umbran Betta and never again have managed to catch another. What even...
send me fr in the game and i'll fill.
can you catch the goldfish plushies from fishing on your houseplot ???
Goldfish plushie?? Did I miss that in the patch notes?
You can also catch them by fishing in the Underground, and there's almost always other people fishing there, so you'll have the Fishing with Friends buff :) Makes fish bite faster, so you can roll the dice faster. (Doesn't change the spawn rate, though.)
I assumed they meant the red and yellow koi
Ah, that would make more sense
Yes, any bait works, so use whatever bait will also catch fish you want :)
Sigh,,,,, eleroo eels,,,,,,,,
my patience is running thin lol
lol they are not very rare with glow worms, are they? XD
On the upside... they're worth a lot of gold? Just as good as cloudfish and blue spotted rays for sashimi and so forth.
Hii, i have a question!
When fishing in a party, would I still be able to recieve the same fish my other party member got? Im not a high level to get glow worms yet ;-;
I cant request some either cus I havent gotten them. And from what Ive noticed in the request menu, I can only request things I got before huhu
Pls help 🥹
No, fishing in party works differently than hunting in party. You wont get what other party member reels in. You have to reel it yourself to get the fish
if you're looking for a fish that needs glow worm bait, your option is either request the glow worm or get your own glow worm unfortunately. If you have never get the glow worm, you cant request it so your best bet is to level up on your fishing skill and get the glow worm farm recipe from einar
Uueue thank you..
Glow worms are also awarded by Einar's level 3 friendship quest, and there is also a random chance of getting them out of the Kilima and Bahari daily rummage piles, or from Lucky Boxes with your free daily coin (...or with bought ones, but if you aren't high enough fishing to have glow worms yet, you probably can't afford the coins 😅 )
...wow, the Strategy section on the Glow Worm wiki page really needs some help. This is all ancient info — like, "pre-0.180 prices for morels" ancient. x_X
but I'm going to bed and can't do it now.
heres a funny one so your in a party of 3 1 person has glow worm, 1 person has worm and 1 person has no bait, do they each get 3 from each of there respective tier, do they get 3 of 1 lower tier or do they get 1 of the highest tier
As Olivia said, there isn't shared loot for fishing like there is for hunting, lumberjacking, mining, and bug catching. Each person gets whatever fish they get, same as if they were fishing alone. So, the person fishing with glow worms gets a fish you can catch with glow worms every time they successfully finish the minigame. The person fishing with worms gets worm fish. And, naturally, the person fishing with no bait gets no-bait fish.
However, there is a chance that they will get double loot (2 of the thing they fished up) if they are within 35 meters of a party member when they finish reeling. (I don't know if essence amounts from infected nodes are doubled; I don't think so, from what I observed a few days ago, but I would have to test it more carefully to be certain.)
Iirc you also get double infected essence if you got the double loot. But aside from that, the only benefit of fishing in a party is a faster bite hook as fishing doesnt have the same mechanics as hunting/bug catching/mining/chopping woods in a party
You don't even have to be partied up for the Fishing with Friends buff! That's just proximity to someone who reeled in a fish :D
lol can't tell you how many times I've finished a game of hotpot with FWF x5
Thats true 😂 underground is the best spot for that
It even persists through a server/zone change, so you can go fish in the UG for a short while, grab the buff, and then run out to fish in the lake if you want
Combine that with hooktime hooks xd
Can you fix the fishing bugs once and for all??? I just missed an ancient rare fish, just because the game is lagging... I'm playing on PS5 so please make fishing smoother.
No. This Discord has no control over that.
If you want to ask the devs for that you want to submit a feedback ticket

Sucks you missed out on an Ancient Fish though
:o
Yep, got my starred ancient fish just last night. I'm determined to complete the fish collection no matter what.
I was fishing for some plushies (even though I have enough ) at Maji Market and thought
"you know what. I might aswell fish in this starred fish spot"
and boom
Awesome!
is worth to fish in majin event ? what fish im can catch there?
regular kilima stuff iirc
ancient to ? or im need quest for it ?
you need to finish the water bundle for the ancient fish to be fish-able in your world
so im have done all already so i can thx
Any tips on where or how to best get waterlogged chests? Been playing for almost a year and still not even gotten half of the makeshift decor. Fishing level around 60. Read that you now can fish without bait for better luck. But still if any of you have some tips. 🙂
And maws in elderwood, only gotten 1 since the update...
For makeshift chests, we used to know all the best places to fish them, but then Elderwood reshuffled a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff for fishing loot, and now it's not as clear anymore. What I strongly suspect, however, is that now it's easier to get makeshift chests with no bait compared to fishing for them with no bait in the past. Not compared to fishing for them with worms or glow worms.
Let me do a little digging around and see what I can see.
I do know that you don't get makeshift chests at all in Elderwood, though you'd probably already guessed that
I strongly suspect the no bait odds for getting Makeshift Chests is still worse than it used to be when using glow worms prior to the EW update that changed fishing. Which is sad, but nothing we can do about it.
I would say either Ponds or Underground. Fishing in the bubbles does seem better than not in bubbles though. It SEEMS to me like no bait is better than glow worms now though
If you find anything while doing your digging, I would be interested to know what you find too
With no bait and worms, bubbles don't give you the trash items (boot, wheel, ship fragments, forget if there is another one...), so the odds of getting a desired item will necessarily be a bit higher if fishing starred. That particular aspect doesn't make any difference with glow worms, though, because glow worms never pull up trash items anyway.
I've started to compile rates for Waterlogged Chests I've found, starting with no bait.
While my luck may be way off what's normal, I'm so far at:
1.5% UG (263 total catches),
4.5% UG bubbles (223 total catches),
1% in Ponds (169 total catches),
2% in Pond bubbles (100 total catches)
The numbers are a bit too low to really say anything conclusively atm, but bubbles definitely seem better than not fishing in bubbles so far
Thanks guys, I'll just try to be patient and keep on fishing for luck 😂😊
It's one heck of a grind. I still have over 20 Makeshift Items to collect, and already getting mostly duplicates...
But Good luck! I hope you have better luck than me!!
I only get duplicates too... It's so frustrating and taking for ever
Yeah, I've already submitted some feedback about this tbh.
For such a large collection, having no duplicate protection feels ridiculous.
Especially with the low rate of chests anyway.
You should put feedback in about it too, more feedback means more likely to be actioned afterall!
My ideas so far:
- You obtain recipes not items. Might not fit so well with the vibe of junk items that people threw out though
- Give Fishing Guild Shop some item that you can buy to boost Chest rates
- Give maybe a 25% chance of ensuring the chest is not a duplicate
Oh, yeah. Never done that, but I have thought about it.. I'm gonna check it out. Is it what's called a ticket or different kind of feedback?

Any tips for catching a maws?😅
Tips for Catching Maws
Getting it on the hook in the first place is just persistence - they have a very, very low drop rate, about a fifth of the drop rate for most epic fish, or so.
There are no known buffs that improve your chances of hooking any particular fish.
However, buffs that make fish bite faster can help you "roll the dice" more often in a given timespan:
- Fishing with Friends (the buff you get when someone catches a fish near you)
- trout dinner
- major hook time booster (but I don't recommend this one, as you can only use one hook type at once, unlike buffs from food)
All of these effects do stack.
As for reeling it in once you've got one, their pattern is the same as the lake shark, but a bit slower-paced. Same advice as usual applies:
- only reel when your bobber is inside the reticle - the parentheses-looking thing: ( )
- when the fish jumps, stop reeling but keep the reticle over the bobber, then reel again once it lands
- Sharks like to double jump sometimes, and also travel quickly from side to side while jumping. It's definitely possible to get to know their patterns and learn to predict what they will do to some extent.
Buffs can help make the minigame easier:
- major safe zone size booster to make the reticle much larger
- fisherman's brew to further increase the reticle size
- fish stew to make the reticle more responsive (moves faster so it's easier to keep the bobber in the safe zone)
- and possibly add sashimi (rod health recovery) and maybe sushi (boosts total rod health) if you struggle a lot with keeping up with the bobber. However, they don't offer any benefit if you aren't let your rod health deplete much in the first place, and sushi is expensive to be eating every 8 minutes.
Yes, you can have all of the food buffs on + one hook + fishing with friends (+ party buff for a small chance at double fish loot) on you at the same time :)
does anyone have any stats on makeshift chests? it’s my last steam achievement i need 10 fished up and one from Zeki’s underground
are there any stats on how to maximise my chances of fishing up a chest instead of fish? i know it’s random but like any particular fishing spots or bait or time of day that’s more likely to fish up chests than usual? Thank you in advance
Pond hotspots with a glow worm seem to have the highest chance (~8%) of getting a makeshift chest. Followed by Kilima Rivers and Coast, Bahari Rivers and Coast Hotspots at ~7%.
thank you!!!
the ponds are gonna be real familiar with me for the next few days
tada
is the gems that come from nodes random?
Random chance of getting the gems, but each mining node will only drop a few of the gems. So you can only get Jasper from mining Stone, Garnet from Iron and Ruby from Palium (only ones I remember rn...Quartz might also be stone?)
So if you want a particular gem, you need to hunt a particular type of ore in order to get it
Ok thank you thats what i was wondering. And yea quartz is stone or copper 🤔 i have a lot of quartz 😭
Yeah, it's EITHER stone or copper, but not 100% sure which. Gut says stone, but could be wrong haha
its most likely stone lmao
THis is a nice summary image, not stone haha (Edit - deleted it as it was definitely outdated)
I know that ruby price is wrong though
But the acquisition method and villagers should hopefully be correct
Ur missing whitestone for stone gems i think and the precious ores for their respective gems
Huh, didn't even twig that silver and gold weren't there. Welp, should delete it to not spread misinformation then ig
Is just outdated incomplete letting ya know its not false at least
Anyone have any tips for the best spot to get the giant kilima stingray and the stormray? Those are the last 2 I need for the temple bundles (plus an apple pie but idk where that recipe is🙃🤣)
Stormray are from bahari rivers (i got it at proudhorn pass). I got 2 giant kilima stingray from the fairgrounds while i wait for MM tho lol
Okay! Ill head to the fairgrounds now. Its glow worm, right?
Yep! Glow worms at any time. Stormray needs glow worms too but iirc they're only spawn at certain time (dont remember when tho sorry)
Ugh 😑🤣 still nothing. Anyone need the prismfish plush? 😭 caught 5 of them during this 🤣
oh my gosh really?
is there anything you are looking for?
Plushie wise? Not really. Im just really trying to get these last 2 rays haha so if you want them you can just toss whatever you want 🤣
Theres ones I want but none thatd be a fair trade for these prismfish considering they are so easy to get
Ill take one! in game name is the same lol
Im at the fairgrounds currently 😊
omw
I dont remember, are there trading booths here?
now that you mention it i dont think so lol meet you underground
Alrighty, heading there now
lagging 1 sec sorry lol kicked me out
Idk how to get into your server. Its greyed out for me.
@gloomy scaffold do you just want 1? I have 8 of them 🤣
Ill take 2! lol Thank you!
Welcome! 🤣 Enjoy! ❤️
can you get the koi/catfish/mudminnow plushies at your plot?
I know for sure you can get the koi and catfish as I got them from my plot. I believe you can get the mudminnow since the other ones you can.
New player: Are worms and glow worms the only fishing bait in this game? Since it takes an hour for the glow worm mill to produce, should I have several going at once?
yes, you can also fish without bait. i've gotten to the point of having too many worms now, at first i had 2 glows and 1 normal, but i'm thinking of putting one in storage tonight
Thanks for the info. Most of my fishing thus far has been without bait or just normal worms. Just wanted to make sure there wasn’t other items before committing crafter slots to more worm producers lol
u can get plnety of worms and glowworms by just putting ur exces meats and foragable sin it 24/7
and grilled fish (dont grill the good fish u wanna keep though)
yeah, be sure to load up your worm farms and preserves and other crafting stuff before you log off, so it still works while you're offline
That’s what I did last night. My friend and I did a hunting party and I threw all the meats into the grinder
make sure you grill the meat first, because you gain cooking points, and you compress 2 fish/meat into 1 item, so you can now fit "60" into worm farm instead of just 30. you can sell any star grilled meat since that's a "bonus" and that's worth more than 2 individuals combined
Good advice. This I did not do, but it was late and work comes early.
I believe you end up with fewer glow worms for the same amount of meat, this way, but let me double check
I thought the number of worms was based on the price of the input
It is, but the breakpoint for 2 glow worms isn't until the item reaches 88g
Number of Glow Worm = round(Item Value Gold / 50) (minimum 1 Glow Worm)
Ah, okay, then that would depend upon which fish/meat is being grilled, then it would need a base value of 44 each
I don't think there are any meats worth that much. Chapaa is 15, sernuk/muujin 16, clam mushroom meat 23
Raw fish can't go in the farms to start with, so it must be grilled first
but raw meat can
I doubt it, but is there a "Best place" to fish for makeshift furniture? Its the last steam achievement I have left :p
We used to know, but they reshuffled the drop rates with Elderwood release, so now we're not sure
NOT in Elderwood itself, though, for sure - zero makeshift chests there
So, for now, I'd say fish wherever has other fish you need or wherever is most profitable or enjoyable
The Underground and at Maji Market could also be good choices purely because there are lots of folks fishing there, so you're likely to get the Fishing with Friends buff very easily (makes fish bite faster, so higher turnover)
Alright, thank you very much
The way I seen it work is whatever the cooked fish is that you put into the glow worm farm is one worm per 50 value so I keep all high value fish and turn into cooked fish and let my 4 glow worm farms go easy to get hundreds of them
Like some will be 1200 or more per cooked fish if done right “like eleroo star eels ect”
.
O mighty Einar, Keeper of the Waters,
Guide my line and bless my bait,
Let not my rod snap, nor patience fray.
Give us this day our daily plush,
And forgive our frustrations,
As our fish flee from temptation.
Grant us bites and the rarest fishes,
For each catch brings joy and fulfills our wishes.
Hello! Does anyone have any tips on how to find epic fish? I’ve been trying to complete this bundle which requires the giant gold fish and long nosed unicorn fish but I’ve had 0 luck. I’m using the correct bait and fishing at the right time of day, and neither one of them have popped up once for me. It’s been days 😭 am I just unlucky?
Aww, this is really cute haha
Wow I got it after complaining HAHA
If you're using the right bait and at the right times, in the right places... Then the only tip is perseverence.
Epic fish are rare
Hahaha, congrats! Funny how often this happens
99% of the time almost always
Happened to me thank goodness 👍 👍 👍
Sometimes i joke complain and get fish … that i didnt even need did this to much 15 giant goldfishes so far it works everytime
The other day I popped over to bahari and thought I'd do a fishing run for old times sake and lo and behold, got myself another starred unicorn!!
Must be nice 🥲
Still trying to get mine LOL
Maybe I should complain again tbh
It works surprisingly often
I just go from top to bottom only fishing in the nodes but end of day is all rng anyway, you're not doing anything wrong
I am on quest Parental Dispute and I am wondering where to get an elder eel?
There is no page on the wiki for it.
it is the eleroo eel aka the elder eel as in eel of elderwoods its a lore thing robo dude uses an old name
Thanks! 🙂
Anyone have an angelfish they can gift me?? I sold mine not realizing I needed one for the bag of illusions
All i'm getting is mossyfins now 💔
i got all mine only in the evening for some reason
Thats so weird, wonder if they're supposed to only be for that time
i mean it could be pure coincidence due to small sample size and randomness but i sense a pattern
this game has changed how i think about superstitions lmao
i know you can get plushes out of your home plot water (the pond ones) but i'm assuming you still have to go to kilima village waters to get the rainbow maji plush right? or has anyone been able to get that from their pond at home?
i just imagine a hugeeee plush coming from my water on my plot?
let me check the loottable im not allwoed to share yet
the prism fish plush is kilima lake only
the pond plush are pond only any pond and elderpond is not pond
Rainbow maji is maji market bought. Only prismfish is from kilima lake, or maji market waters.
oh we can buy it? besides the mailbox i fished it out at the fairgrounds once but i didnt know if that was repeatable or only during the first intial release of them @dapper slate
Yh, it's a couple K worth of tickets tho. I believe 3-6k tickets for it.
oh my goodness

Any tips on how to catch this stupid inyrevn mermaid fish. I'm using every possible thing the game provides and I'm on day 4 irl trying to catch it
ur not hooking it or not reeling it?
I'm not hooking it I haven't even seen one
mh i shoudl really make my faq expend to hwo to fish fater guide
There are two giant rainbow plushes, and I think that's why people are getting confused. One is the Prismfish, which is fishable, obviously, only in Kilima Lake. The other is the Rainbow Maji, which is buyable for tickets at Maji Market.
u can fish faster with hooktime hooks and x5 someone caught next to ya buff which u can grab from blackmarket
(Maji Market counts as Kilima Lake)
TIL i really am all kinds of an Idiot...firstly...normal ammo works in EW and one doesn't have to waste essence making the special stuff, as long as you have the amulet...2nd...it's easy to catch the fish you need if you're fishing in the right spot...unicorn in the bag...as is the smooth pebble...today, i am in a good mood and here to say, if an idiot like me can manage to catch the RNG gods...then normal people are gonna be a-ok! 😄
Anyone still unable to find Umbran Betta?
not unable but they were basically rare fish to me
<@&1216796663071637585> Not sure what this is but it looks sketchy
it was sus
This flametongue ray might be the end of me T-T
Been fishing for days on end now with all the boosts I can with absolutely no luck 😩
i like that complain
u are now blessed with getting it on ur 5th next catch
Pls 🤣 it would end my misery lol
AHHHH SECOND TRY OF THE DAY LETS GOOO
can someone tell me the best spot and time to catch the mermaid? I've tried everywhere and everything but can't even find one.
Also I'm trying to do the master of disguise quest but can't get dialog with Elousia. Please help.
I just caught one just outside elderwood stables, I used fishermans brew and I'm not sure which hook I used. It took about 10 tries but I got it.
This really sounds more like you won, than proof that you're an idiot. The only idiots are those who reject learning new stuff. So, good job!
Dude whaaat?? Just fishing by Einar’s pond and I reel this thing in, I’m going for enchanted pupfish and wasn’t expected a coelacanth 😅
lol, nice work
What’s the best way to level up mining? It just seems like it takes forever to level up while mining copper and regular rocks
How lovely 🥺 you made me sound almost normal lol...truth is I really was embarrassed at how dumb I was... sigh...moaning away and I was doing it all wrong.
But, you know... I got a starred rtb yesterday. Just minding my own business and walked into one... then walked into another rtb by chance a few minutes later...
I'm usually never that lucky but I'll take it!🙃
Next challenge... the fairy carp. Any tips would be welcome 😊
I gotta say, I've never struggled to lvl up mining n foraging. Those two tore ahead of all the other skills...
I don't have any shortcuts, I'm afraid, just keep hammering and keep focus bar filled would be my suggestion:)
Eta: perhaps the more experienced will have some tips when they pass by.
In my experience, mining is just... kinda slow to level, compared to other things where doing them in a group makes it appreciably faster (cooking, hunting, bug catching).
I would definitely say that you should be hitting every silver and gold node you see, as they give a solid chunk more XP than the regular rocks and ore.
After gold and silver, large stone nodes (the regular kind), large copper, and large iron nodes give the most "XP per bonk," if that matters to you.
And then the advice always given for any "how do I level up faster":
make sure you are spending renown at the Phoenix Shrine (in the cave in NW Kilima where you first spawned in) to up your focus bonus % - it caps at 100%, or double XP on everything you do as long as you keep yourself fed
Thank you!
Thank you! I always forget about the phoenix shrine!
what kind of food item can get me more glow worms?
That is how it goes lol. I've posted elsewhere, the only time I can reliably find what I'm looking for is only after I've given up all hope and am trying to move on to other things 😉 There's so much you can do in palia, it's fairly easy to just let my ADHD take the wheel lol. Also, I can PROMISE others(including myself) have done stupider stuff. To err is human, as they say. Oh, and other than being at right time and place for when they come out, only tips for most fish are do a little rng luck dance and/or complain about not seeing or finding it after it's been awhile. YMMV. I don't recall f carp being too tricky to land, the hard part is spotting them
It only depends on coinvalue which depends on ingredients just grill ur exces fish do select what to grill
is fisherman's lagoon considered a pond?
not becuz its a lake
So i'm beginning my search for the sushi recipe,, i've read somewhere that the home plot pond is as good a place as any, true or myth?
any pond will work, i like to fish in other ponds just in case someone else shows up to give fishing bonus
But why not combine it with fishing in bubbles for starred fish collection
ive been able to mine 3 rubies this week, but cannot get a single emerald....... wtf?
Since palium only yield amethyst and ruby and copper have a significantly bigger range of available starstones, the factual RNG of getting rubies is higher than getting emerald. As like uncommon gems have a 10% of being given when mining and epic have like a 1-2%, so the odds of getting them are much higher. Someone here has a much better explanation and even a chart of it, but I hope my answer sheds some sort of light on why you be getting rubies more often then emeralds. 🙂
Have you been mining mostly palium?
No. I have spent the last three days doing about 6hrs on all maps mining.
I’ve mined so much, I have over 500 bars of each copper, iron, and pallium. Plus over 100 bars of gold, silver, and platinum
Every star stone, even starred ones. Not a single emerald.
That's just RNG, I'm afraid :(
Yeah…. It breaks my palia heart
the drop rate for emeralds is somewhat higher than for rubies
but they are both VERY small
u can drastically speed up ur search by letting something bite if its a fish let it go and recast but i love fishing so i let it come to me naturally
ok thanks, but does that method lose the glow worm?
nope its accually how ppl conserve worms when newer
ah i didn't know that, I always thought a worm is lost at the moment of bite. Appreciate the info
Where is the best place to fish for the sushi 🍣 recipe?
I found mine from my home plot pond
Thank you. I will try that
I AM SCREAMING.. LESS THAN 80 GLOW WORKS AND I GOT THE SILLY MERMAID FISH
Any pond, including
home plot waters
Kilima: Mirror Pond, Auni's pond, and the mayor's back garden pond
Bahari: Hideaway, Najuma's pond, Central Stables, or the pond by Tamala's house... though that one might still be a weird river/pond split
Hello. Does anyone maybe have a suggestion for palium mining route
I don't know what I'm doing wrong
I have been fishing for the giant stingray for DAYS. DAYS. I'm seeing people catch them right next to me, and for whatever reason i just cannot seem to get one at all.
Please don't lose hope. It's all in the hands of the rng gods anyway. You're not doing anything wrong. If you're getting frustrated, go do something else for a while and then get back to it. You WILL get it eventually and you'll be super happy and relieved. Good luck and don't forget to let us all know when you get it!!
idk if this is appropriate to put in this channel BUT if i'm fishing for plushes in the pond, do i need to use bait? or will i have a chance without?
You don't need to use any bait
thank you nostalgia!
I should be able to dig up the chart for starstone drop rates tomorrow if someone reminds me
No bait plush is all bait types
But why not fish with glowworms to get more valueble fish epic chances and more chests?
lol fair!!!
Starting to think the flametongue Ray and giant goldfish are figments of my imagination. Must’ve used well over 100 glow worms on each of them by this point..
wheres the best place to mine iron? in bahari or otherwise
can only find iron in bahari. gold, too
Any tips on infected fishing? This quest is
Also, any tips for shark fishing also appreciated!
(Please @ me in replies so I can come back to the response)
please game, i beg, just one rainbow trout 😭
How do you get a fishing bobber
Quests and buy from einars shop
Ok
Best advice for reeling in sharks?
stop reel when jump
fisherman brew
exquisite rod
How do I catch a gold star maws?
does elderwood lure give u a higher chance at getting maws?
@limpid charm hi hehe, a little birdie told me you had a fish tier chart based on value for cooking? 👀
you need this?
bless ty
xd, no worries
what do the parentheses mean?
Total value per round, for all 3 copies of the dish produced by the recipe
ohh thankss
Is there anything I need the platinum bars for? It says sells for a high price but I don’t wanna regret selling the 20 I have lol
How does anyone even catch the sharks on console?? I am struggling
why i get a river shark plush before ive even caught a river shark
Want a hint
Nah I’ll just say it
So first off remember to max out your fishing rod, this will help greatly, next if you do struggling with keeping up use fisherman’s brew. Per batch gives you 5 to use each last 7mins. They’ll increase your catch radius a bit. But to really watch out for, is when the the shark makes a large jump, it’s a bit slow so following it ain’t hard, they’ll always go the opposite direction from the very last short or large jump they made. After they land back in the water, you’ll have 1-2.5 seconds to reel them in, rinse and repeat, I’ve caught like 100 of em
Hope that helps hon
Thank you!
If your still struggling, get the major catch radius hook, if you’ve already maxed out your rod and fishing level to level 10
So far, you need a few to make some umbraan decor. Also need like 2 for quest iirc. Other than that, no other uses as of now (to my knowledge at least) so selling it should be fine...
Brighteye Amulet IV also requires one, and as Olivia said, a few are needed for quests. (2 for the quest to unlock the free pet, and I think one of the side quests added this patch also asks for them, but I'm not sure how many.)
Umbraan Sink, Umbraan Tub, and Elderwood Backpack all need one each.
I'd save them for now until you're done with everything, and even then, I wouldn't sell them all. Keep a few on hand in case of future quests, or in case a friend needs one or something, you know? :) Platinum isn't that easy to farm.
Any advice for catching void ray? Is it just a matter of patience? (I'm in the mines, fishing with GW and basically catch a lot of blobfish)
I can't recall specifically but I believe there's a certain time of day it can be caught in
The wiki and paliapedia both say any time of day, but it is an epic fish so I get that it doesn't spawn often
It is rare but it does exist I can confirm and I think that your underground location choice it proper . Best of luck!!
Ok thank you 🙏🏻
Hello I’ve been trying now for a few weeks to try get a devilish any tips please? It’s driving my insane I’ve been fishing hours on end all different parts of elderwood with worms and nothing😩
hello! does anyone have tips on how to get more glow worms in the glow worm farm??? i'm a bit confused on why am i getting few glow worms
It depends on the gold value of tge items in it
Where should I fish to get umpraan betta
anyone have spare maws laying around? im up to 300 lake sharks, 3 elder shark plush, 2 river shark plush and 21 fins and no maws. the horror
I usually grill all my excess common and uncommon fish and stick them in the worm and glow worm farms. Gives decent amount of worms and a ton of harvest boost fertilizers
Fun fact the plush are same chance as maws
i ended up getting a maws earlier from an infected node, now im gonna be hooked on trying to land a starred version. atleast i can use the non starred i caught to make the lantern 😄
Is the location still the same for Blue Marlins? (Bahari coastline with normal worms). A few hours fishing there with not one caught.
Yep, same as always
lol someone accidentally drew palia fishing
Where’s the best place to find an enchanted pupfish? For the Underground Affairs quest
Einar's pond area
I think the ore compass is broken in Bahari. It's pointing me toward just plain rocks, none with ore.
Since Elderwood came out ore compass tracks all large stone, copper, iron, palium nodes and every node size of silver, gold, platinum
I guess that makes sense. I gave up looking for gold, I'll just buy ingots for lures.
I did not know this. Large copper/iron I can understand, but large stone? XD
Yup! It’s the main current complaint about ore compass.
And also oops, I forgot about whitestone. Large whitestone nodes too
day three (irl days) of trying to get a gold star fairy carp :(( ahhh
day bazillion of trying to land a fairy carp, of any description! keep un-friending friends and server jumping and even that hasn't worked so far!
im getting so burnt out lmao this sucksssss
there was me crying over the maws and the unicorn fishies...at least i've caught those tho! this particular fishy is just a picture in the wiki atm!
the wait between 3am-6am to 6pm-9pm is killing me
Have y'all encountered the trick to reset star fishing nodes? (bubbles)
After you fish from one, either run 150 meters away or enter an instanced area (like a villager's room), then come back. The node will be fishable again for you. You can repeat this until the node despawns 5 minutes after it was first fished from.
As an additional fun tidbit, if you bunnyhop and/or glide alll the way back to your fishing spot after you exit the instanced area (or get to your 150m-away destination), the next time you need to reset the node, you can use the Unstuck command and it will put you right back at the door/the far away point. :) (If you accidentally miss a hop or something, you might need to unstuck a couple times.)
i catch void ray very fast, and only catch in the underground (sewers)
ANY advice, how to catch inyrevn mermaid? I caught all the fish I needed, even the Long-Nosed Unicorn Fish, in less than an hour, but I’ve been struggling with this one for 2 days and still can’t catch it, having already used over 100 glow worms
Honestly, if you got all previous fish within an hour, you were very lucky. It's not unusual for one fish to just not show up for people (for me, I had a few).
If you have all other fish, then I'm sure you know about the right times and places already.
So, all I can say is keep at it, and good luck.
That's pretty rough... you're approaching the "twice the denominator" mark. You're fishing with glow worms, so that's good. What other fish are biting your line when you try for it?
I'm literally tired of catching mossyfin and turn pike, i think i catch them all lol
Alright, so you're in the right biome... at this point, I'm afraid it's just RNG :(
15% of people will get to 100 attempts for the mermaid without seeing one, and it seems like you're in that unlucky chunk of people
That statistic is making me wish I had counted how many casts it took me to get Void Ray and Willow...
Both of these took 3-4 irl days for me haha (and I was playing quite a lot each day, essentially only fishing)
This is a useful tool for that kind of thing: https://dropchance.app/
Took me 2 weeks to get first unicorn fish. You not doing anything wrong, it's rng thing. Good luck
I finally followed all fishing advice I've read and caught a mermaid within ~5 minutes! Recurring advice I read searching on reddit and here that I used in order of what I think was most critical: 1) Fishing together , i.e. in a party and fishing in close proximity, 2) Leave your lure in until you see the mermaid, 3) Fisherman's brew... 4) I would have used a food buffer (sushi, trout dinner, etc.) if the combo of the previous three didn't work.
y’all this game refuses to give me a star ruby lmao
That is a lot of amethyst. I'm jealous.
That is also a lot of rubies, period!
Is the mermaid in the water smaller than the turn pike? I think I got one on my bob once (and it jerked away) but for some reason I thought it’d be as big as the turn pike
It's shorter but still big, and... not entirely fish-shaped
If you leave your bobber in the water the same fish will re-bite repeatedly
So if you're not sure, don't reel back until you can get a better look
If you still need help catching one I can help
Best place to find toadstool floatfish in Elderwood?
(lol that's the second time I've done that in this channel...)
Elderwood bay/saltwater, no bait, any time. The bay is any of the water in Deep Woods (except the pond to the northwest) or along the coast to the west (from De Mer upward)
It is a 1 in 10 chance for a starred gem, so you are close to average
oh damn really? well thanks for lettin me know!
Youre welcome, yeah a 10% for a starred gem, could be the first one you get, could be the 25th one
Too much mining! Any idea about the last type?
that would be the green one, emerald
I mine all types, Idk if gems are random but does the green one have a specific I can mine?
It's from copper nodes iirc
thankyou guys
Emerald from Copper in Kilima, 2% drop chance
okay okay where is the best spot to fish the dang mermaid im desperate here
All of the Elderwood Pond fishing spots have the same (low) chance of spawning the mermaid. No difference between open water and nodes, either, I'm afraid.
I’m going to try this now as I need the star mermaid
note that the brew will help you reel it in once you have it hooked, but doesn't affect your odds of getting it on the hook. Fishing with Friends buff doesn't either (trout dinner same), but it does help fish bite faster so you can roll the dice more times in an hour
You may also want to scroll up/search the channel for how to reset nodes
First legendary plush 🥹
OMG I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WE CAN LEAVE LURE IN THE WATER, thaaaanks
Yep, the fish will re-bite until you pull your line out
hi! do i need bait to get the fish plushies? tysm
I thought you had to pull your lure out everytime to get a new fish, do you not? I've heard different things from different people
You are correct.
Some people only reel in the fish they want and let anything else run away after biting.
If you leave the line in the water after it bites and runs away, the same fish will bite every time.
It's only when you pull the line out and re-cast that the fish changes.
Ren was saying to the other person that if they are using that method and weren't sure, leaving the line in gives another chance
Sorry to beat you to it Ren haha
Yes, if you WANT to reroll the fish that's on your line, you have to pull your line out of the water. If you aren't sure what the fish is, or you miss the bite on a fish you do want, you can wait for them to bite again :D
Gotcha! Thank you both lots!
Hi hi
I desperately need help with finding pallium ore. I have never found a node when walking around with the ore compass (only normal nodes). Does anyone have any tips on how i can mine pallium nodes (i need pallium and a ruby) thankssss🥺🥺 ❤️
Just checking, you are looking in Elderwood right?
The caves are especially good for Palium I find, but if you used an ore compass in EW and saw no Palium at all... That'd be crazy
And fair warning, Rubies are rather rare
Good luck!!
No problem 😁
Does anyone know if its easy to catch the Devil fish?
While I was looking for an inrven mermaid, I accidentally caught a devilfish, so I can say that it’s definitely easier to catch than a mermaid
Okey thank you
Hard to hook ez to reel
Im struggling with Devil Fish and Maws for the relics
Do the devilfish first that one is way more doable
Currently having no luck and following what the wiki says too
regular worm elderponds not day
its really rare this one s hould be hte priority maws is not htat important for the relics as its only for guiding lantern
Anyone care to join me for some impromptu ore compass mining? Using 2 in bahari and 2 in the elderwood
What's the best thing to put into the glow worm farm to get more worms?
I only have 9 atm
24/7 excess meats and foragables and grill ur excess fishes together
Does putting in fish output more than just 1 worm?
output depends on gold value for glwoworms its 1 every 50 gold basically with minimums and roundings
So put in things that are worth more, not the grilled fish
uhm what are u suypposed to get thats worth more then grilled fihs unles u love cooking extremely much and then what do u do with ur fish
grilled fish is worth 2times the fish u grilled so ez 200-300 coins on common glowworm ones
6 glowworms per hour ez
? Grilled fish is only worth 98 gold
dishes values depends on the ingredients used ur source is wrong
selecxt fish to grill then different fish grilled diffferent values
XD the meme grilled maws 9k grilled fish (cant even put those in a glowwormfarm as the output slots cant take all the production of that)
Oh, does like the rarity of the fish make it worth more then?
no the coin value does (i said this 3 times now
What's a meme grilled maw?
u grill ur maws to get a stupidly high value grilled fish which has no other purpose but as a flex/science
I'm new to this game, I don't understand things and your wording is a little odd as well
if u hover over a item it says value xx gold thats the value
Is a maw a type of fish?
yeay its the most expensive one (obviously dont grill it but u can for meme) u should just
do grilled fish select some random common fish thats from glowworms grill that one
I don't have the option to select which kind of fish I use I don't think
u do if u click the fish icon
Like select grilled fish in campfire
then it has a fish amount of fish thing click that
This is what my screen looks like. Are you talking abt the + under the fish ingredients? Bc that just takes me to the panel to request an item from someone
nice srnshot this will make it easy to explain
ok so u slected grilled fish but u do not have any unstarred fish
select the use star checkbox then
click the fishes icon (NOT the + under it)
i cant blame u for this as its really weird how this is designed
It still took me to request an item 😭
edit NOT THE +
Yeah I clicked the fish not the +
after clicking the USE * quality ingredients
Yeah
then u dont own any fish in ur inventory/storage (it cant see whats in the lockbox)
cant grill fish if u dont have any
just fish abit with regular worms fo rnow u probs dont have all of em yet then grill the excess ones and put into glowwormer
hi guys! does anyone know what kind of body of water our home plot has? also is it the same no matter the landscape?
its always pond even when it looks like something else
havign the island plot and fishing in the sea u get pond fish
fishing in the river on ur plot pond fish
alright, thanks!!
Thanks for the mechanics. Their drop rates need to be tuned better. It shouldn’t take this long. Coming from a destiny 2 player, the rng is awful.
Epic anything typically has a 1-2 percent drop rate, so it can be pretty rough, yeah
(legendary is far less than 1 percent)
pretty sure its all the same but if not elderwoods hsould be best
This MIGHT be helpful? #🐟│fishing-mining message
(XP per bonk)
Thank you !!!
Personally, given the challenges of navigating EW, I would go for Kilima and maybe Bahari depending what ore you will get more use out of, and don't ignore stone nodes (at least large and maybe medium ones)
Kilima is just a lot flatter and so you spend less time climbing. An ore compass will direct you to large stone and regular ore nodes and all sizes of special ore nodes (silver, gold, platinum)
Check palia.th.gl for maps of the different zones to get an idea of where the mining nodes tend to appear (though you'll get a feel for this over time also)
found the more comprehensive post
#🐟│fishing-mining message
Also, the "per bonk" method just tells you how much XP per button press/per unit of pick durability - not per node, obviously
it also doesn't account for potential revenue or any other factors like star stones
to my surprise, elderwood actually made significant changes to mining experience amounts!
across the board, not just to palium
Eleroo eel, where do I find those?
who ever this is u are a goat‼️
Elderwood saltwater (Vieuxport Sea/west coast and Deep Woods), worms and glow worms (MUCH!! more common with glow worms), evening, night, and morning (6pm to 6am)
What am I missing?!
Kilima catfish
https://www.paliatracker.com/fish-tracker
lists all fish in what SHOULD be accomplishment order
You're missing the Stalking Catfish - ponds, glow worms, evening and night (6pm to 3am)
Ah, the wiki added a key as a gallery image on the accomplishment page
is anyone doing fishing parties?
Anybody up for some late night fishing at de mer docks (or early morning depending on your time zone)
What is that one Elderwood fish that is bloody difficult to catch?!
And how do i catch it
Maws
If someone looking for Maws fishing together (for buff) add me
Damn they are hard to catch
You still fishing ?
Can someone give me Tips? God, I hate fishing so much... It spoils me the game... Losing nearly every fish.
I hate these lake sharks...
Don't reel when they jump. When they jump follow their motion. And only reel when they swim under the surface.
It’s a compromised account posting spam and has since been kicked and posts deleted.
What Troviian said, and additionally:
- keep the reticle - ( ) looking things - centered over your bobber by moving left and right
- if the fish drags the bobber out of the reticle (reticle turns red), STOP reeling until you can get it centered again
- if the fish jumps (reticle turns yellow, red if you're reeling), STOP reeling and follow its movement
Reeling when the bobber is outside the reticle or when the fish is jumping damages your rod health much faster.
Your rod can also recover health slowly if you stop reeling and just hang out, keeping the bobber inside the reticle. If you finish reeling at full rod health, you get bonus XP for a Perfect Catch :D
This is going to sound like a super dumb question but how do you stop reeling? I'm on a PC. I wasn't aware you could do more than hold down the mouse button and move side to side.
there are no dumb questions! I'm glad you asked. the way you stop reeling is by letting go of the mouse button, but still move your mouse from side to side to keep up with the fish
That is super helpful. I was making fishing a lot harder on myself. 🤣
I hope it will be much easier for you now!
Thank you!
is there and area to reset for palium or just run the whole map?
I'm starting to think Maw's isn't real. I'm a level 45 fishing and I've never even seen it. I started looking for it non stop around lvl 18 fishing 😭
Has anyone fished up waterlogged chest in elderwood?
If you have, that's unintended. Waterlogged Chests are only in Kilima/Bahari
@limpid charm this guy said he got one in elderwood
Just searched their posts, they said that looking at screenshots, was probably from fishing in Bahari before going to EW
sus
If you are looking for chests specifically and don't need any other fish, then Glow Worms in Ponds during morning/day (4.2%) or Worm in Kilima Rivers during evening/night (5.7%) are the best rates
At least, as far as we can tell from datamined info
(Thanks to Ren for the data)
Thanks alot for the info, I'm getting so many troll and wierd answers from diffrent people who have no clue, and cant tell for sure, so they make a guees
Kinda wierd when we asked in general chat or in game chat everyone just say "think so" when we asked about waterlogged chests in elderwood. And when we say we dont notice any difference with no bait vs glow worms, that most of the time we just use glow worms everywhere (for more exp and epics) and get many waterlogged chests. They just say its bad rng and we should fish without bait to get waterlogged chests.
finally somene with a good answer. tnx cysruleon
Patch notes do say that no bait is better... But patch notes aren't written by the people who make the changes, so there's likely miscommunication. Things DID change when EW changed up fishing.
No bait rates were likely improved, and glow/worm rates reduced on average. But the dats shows no bait is not the best, far from it.
I say likely as I can't remember the exact rates from previously rn, would have to look them up (but am on mobile, so would be a later job)
yeah thats what we tought, not played for like 2 years. but remember there was some wrong numbers back then too. But people are just so clueless
haha true, litterly told dugleik about not trusting what they wrote yesterday and today
And I don't know if other have mined the post-EW data before, as I have not seen it publicly available. But I was helping Ren test the numbers for this data less than a week ago. So pretty new data.
I still think chest farming is terrible though. Even with 5.7% evening/night, no duplicate protection is crazy when there are 68 or so items to get from chests
me and dugleik fished yesterday, with no worm and glow worm, no chests with no worm. but after we swap back to glow worm we both get instant
Yeaah. But its kinda nice that it is so hard too. Makes it more rare. Like the fishing content is way to fast to finish
That really doesn't mean anything, that's just RNG I'm afraid.
How far through the collection are you haha?
Yeah but so far we have better RNG with glow worms. and u also get epic fish, more value fish and more exp so its much more worth to just use glow all the time
im missing 7 makeshift items, didnt play for 2 years, not sure if all was in the game then
Probably? Not been playing so long haha.
The rates were much better before though haha
started playing again 2 days ago
also missing 7 items
7 left is good going though, good luck finishing it.
Still have about 16 left I think
Do you guys definitely have the black market ones BTW?
dont think i got any, think it was around black market time i quit
yeah we have from blackmarket
8 are only buyable from the black market
maybe then, don't remember, been so long
not sure if all 8 but we did buy from black market when it came
Might be worth checking haha
the exp diffrence from catching fish hurts when fishing in kilima haha
compared to elderwood that is
I mean, I'm over fishing level 50 so don't really care about exp much personally haha
Nothing to be gained other than fishing medals
Hah, All i care about is my makeshift items 😛
I'd rather take better chest chances over better exp when fishing for chests
Hope they will add in the chests in elderwood aswell at a later time
The ponds in bahari is insane now, it's so many. when we played you were lucky finding 5 of them in 30 min
Doubtful imo
I'd rather they reworked things, either making it so
- there's a fixed chance if getting a new item from a chest (maybe 25%?)
- chests give recipes not the items, though this feels less like you're fishing up stuff people threw away =/
- make it so you can buy a magnet or something consumable from Einar guild store that improves chest rate for 10 mins or so
That's lucky. Average for me is 2-3 in 30 mins
have all blackmarket items. Just miss 7 from fishing. one of them, the picnic blanket i do have but think maybe it was a log in gift or something, but its stil blacked out on the achivement thingy
25% def to high. - recipes noo thank u - 3 something like that would be okay
fishing is way to fun tbh
we used to talk about that back in the day when we played. like suggestions to improve fishing. cuz on bahari it was a nightmare. there were so few hotspots. now they have tweaked that way to much, its sooo many. and we talked about adding a consumable in einars shop that was actually a bit useful. something like u described
Try putting the picnic blanket in your inventory, leaving and re-entering the home plot. Can help to trigger things like that
okay tnx
I like fishing, but I've had 8 duplicates in a row when I had just over half the Makeshift items. My luck tends to suck, so I know this is going to be one heck of a grind for me...
the grind is nice. cuz its nothing else to grind. finishing all the fish is to easy. and its nice with some duplicates to make a full makeshift house
You say finishing the fish is too easy, but getting 2 fish took 3-4 irl days each for me (of playing 6+ hours each day)...
It's all RNG. Some get lucky, some don't
well yeah we did that too. But it didnt take that long to finish. worst part was catching everything in bahari back in the days cuz it was so few hotspots and if someone fished them they despawned fast. Now its a lot easier there at least. we were not lucky tbh, we just fished a lot.
so yesterday evening and this morning i was fishing with no worm in kilima. somewhere around 70 hotspots. No waterlogged chests. just swapped to glow worms and now i got 2 waterlogged chests in 27 hotspots. I get its RNG buuut like guntersen said same happened earlier yesterday too. like 30 hotspots with no worm and no chests, 4 throws with glowworm and got a chest
and another chest just now. 3 in like 29 hotspots
no worm vs glow worm on kilima
i’m new to palia! low level fishing. any tips to level up quick.
elderwood map gives more exp, and glow worms give more exp
😊 ty
and just fish in hotspots
what does hotspots mean?
the bubles that give star quality fish
also what’s a good tip to earn gold quick
i’m still on standard tools
any specific items i should know to sell
early i remember just hunting the sernaks on kilima was a good way to make gold. not sure if it stil is but think its prob the best way stil
what do i sell?
meat and hide
i’ve been cooking all my meat hahahah so i should stop doing that z😂
what food do you usually eat
u can sell it cooked too.
no expert on this tho. Just started playing again 2 days ago. not played in like 2 years.
thanks 🙂
Early on, hearty veg soup as soon as you can get the recipe at gardening 1. After that, whatever you can cook really.
Grilling meat is very inefficient for focus
yes i have been making soup
eating is good i am assuming selling isn’t worth much
any items off the top of your head for early starters to sell?
I'm not at my PC to double check the rates, I think Ponds are like 3% no bait, 3.7% worms and 4.2% glows. You just got lucky/unlucky with your pulls for those numbers
in hotspots always or?
Depends on what activity you like doing. Hunting is very profitable. Excess metal bars/gems are good. Forage /wood you don't need
No. Rates seem to be the same in hotspots and not
yeah i was wondering about the gems .. i have some quartz do i save them for anything in the future or just sell it for now
also yeah i know the numbers in my little experiment are way to low and i did not concider what location or time of day. I just run around kilima and fish hotspots. But again the diffrence is bearly noticable and concidering that u also get more exp, sell value and epic fishes using glow worms it feels so much better just using them
did this before too, and earlier yesterday with a much lower sample size. but stil wierd how we "are just lucky" everytime we do it.
just got another chest with glow worm btw. idk it does feel like its way more worth just to fish with glow worm all the time
So I fished 500 times in Kilima Ponds with worms only during the day to check the rates for Ren.
He guessed there could be 2 different algorithms for generating the fish you hook and worms in ponds was one if the best ways to differentiate the 2. I had some ingame days where I got 4 chests, some 0-1. But it averages out to 3.8% (3.6% evening/morning, hence just doing the day. And night is the same rate as day, but Maji Market was on haha)
Save some. But you don't need many. I'd keep starred ones as you can place them at home though
According to the data, evening/night in Kilima Rivers with worms, not glow worms, has the best rate out of anything btw
But in average, yes, glow worms are the best choice
well tbh 2 people doing 500 throws is way to litle to make anything out of it. could also "just be luck" or "rng" - I mean for it to be somewhat reliable u would need way more people and u would have to repeat it on all different locations and times. But as long as using glow worms works fairly well i ll just continue with that everywhere. to me it seems like the best method, also dont have to worrey about what time of day it is and what location u are in, so much simpler.
the annoying part here that started everything is when asking people about it in general chat here or in game almost all said i think so or i got one there (waterlogged chests in elderwood) and that we should fish with no bait to get waterlogged chest. Prob cuz it says so online somewhere but its clearly wrong.
U are the first one who said waterlogged chests are only in bahari and kilima.
100% agree that 500 throws is not enough to accurately determine rates. But we had the weights from the files and wanted to check if the rates correspond with one of 2 different algorithms, which for some fish had a factor of 2 difference in the rates. That's why I was in Ponds with Worms - the expected rate for chests was 3.8% vs something like 7%, and Mirror carps was 13% vs 23%.
Of my 500 fish, I ended up with exactly 3.8% chests and exactly 13% Mirror Carps, which is rather lucky. Would only expect such convergence after a few thousand tbh.
But it's very strong evidence that the data mined info is correct overall.
I mentioned the 500 as for some of it I was far above/below the expected rates. That's all RNG being random.
And from your recorded observations, you were below expected for the no bait but above expectations for glow worms. There should be more chests from glow worms, but not quite by that margin.
That's all I was trying to say there
I'm glad you're getting lucky with them though! Hope it continues for you
yeaah i totally agree. Just kinda annoying when people say we should fish with no bait cuz it says so on palia wiki or whatever and they are all clueless but so stubborn
Patch notes - which are the only official info we have on Makeshift rates - specify no bait being best. It's not surprising people would trust that info as its straight from S6 staff
It is frustrating though, as patch notes are not always right in what they claim to have changed...
And this is a great example of this
@karmic notch Wild theory, Can it be that glow worms that was made before the patch still work as the old, and if you grow new worms it works with the new patch?
i have unofficial info hehe
Nah, glow worms are glow worms.
Would be amusing if it did work like that though
We have the same unofficial info 🙂
Has anyone else caught a Starred FairyCarp! Its nearly impossible to get 🤣 ive only caught the fish 1 time & ive played well over a year 😦
if thats the rare pond fish with glowworms yeay many times
No its not glowworms
oh the regular worm then
Yeah. Its one of the hardest fish to get starred anyway 🤣
my trick is if i need a fish starred i literly refuse to fish outside bubbles would so so frustrating to get it many times unstarred
Yes thats what ive been doing, its such a short time space to get them though. I can hop from one place to another but then sometimes the star pools dont even come back...its very frustrating 😒
and some biomes got so few bubblews
Yep.
It does exist, but time limited fish are very annoying. You're using the right bait with regular worms, so all I can say is keep trying and good luck
yea, thats why i posted the screenshot of the elderwoods patch notes, because realistically i shoudnt have to go out of my way and datamine info about chances or fish 500 stuff out of the water and see out of which of those items are waterlogged chests, all i can really do is apologize for the misinfo, i had to check in palia's known issues to see if waterlogged chests not spawning in elderwoods is a bug, which makes it more confusing: is it intentional or not
I JUST HOOKED IT YALL!
complain and manifest
Had no boosts on either lmao
I never blamed you for anything, dw. I noticed you even said the chest you had was probably from fishing in Bahari earlier.
As for whether no chests in EW...They are not in the loot table for Elderwoods at all. That could mean they were forgotten, but to me it seems intentional.
From a lore perspective it makes sense as villagers don't tend to go in there, so would probably choose an easier location to dump their trash furniture.
i will say, now that im checking paliapedia for the waterlogged drop rates, it seems that glow worms are still the ones you use for best chances of getting a chest. if thats the case, what was the point of changing the drop rates between no bait vs bait, i at least kind of get where s6 wanted to change in the fishing algorithm, they want us to get more profit rather than decor when you use bait, but if the paliapedia drop rates are true, then i interpret it as more "you get more chances of waterlogged chests with no bait, but if you still want the best outcome, use glow worms"
Please don't use paliapedia for the rates, those are the pre-EW update numbers. They are all wrong.
I've heard that the person who owns paliapedia is supposedly planning to rewrite the entire site, so fixing the data is a lower priority for them.
Whatever the reason, those are not the correct numbers anymore.
As far as we can tell (though this has not been tested or verified), the rates for chests are the same both in and out of hotspots (the bubbles), which was not the case before.
Also, best rates for chests now appear to be:
Morning/Day - 4.2%, Ponds with Glow Worms
Evening/Night - 5.7%, Kilima Rivers with REGULAR worms
yes but yesterday u said u fished one there when we asked if anybody had fished up a waterlogged chest
They also later corrected themselves saying they probably had found it in Bahari earlier, at least give them credit for admitting that
yea that was my bad, especially now that i look at old screenshots of past fishing trips and no waterlogged chests catched, because realistically as i said, why shouldnt you get waterlogged chests, not to mention apparently you still need bait for best chances of getting one and now im skeptical of it now, in the same thought as the honey lures change, we the community shouldnt have to annoy lacie or whoever dev happens to be watching us just to know exactly what changed
Issue is the patch notes aren't written by the people who do the patches. So there can easily be miscommunication, and this is not the first time.
It does look like the rates of chests were nerfed for both worms and glow worms on average, but buffed for no bait. Which is exactly what the patch notes say - more likely with no bait, less likely with worms/glows.
However (though this bit is untested and unverified), we also appear to now lose out on those huge rate boosts when fishing in hotspots/nodes/bubbles/ripples/whatever-you-want-to-call-them. Whereas we previously could have 7-8% chances at Waterlogged Chests, it's now a maximum of 5.7% during evening and night only.
The issue is people inferred from the patch notes that this meant that no bait is now superior, when it just got made more in line with worms/glows (but still generally worse)
Yeah, the 'less likely" and "more likely" are "compared to what they were before" - not compared to other bait types, as best I can tell. Not the clearest wording, at all.
(also, with no bait and worms, there is a very slightly higher chance for chests in nodes, because you don't get trash items like the waterlogged boot in nodes - but no difference with glow worms, because those don't hook trash items in the first place)
Ok how did I just get the mermaid and NOT the Umbraan betta 💀😭
now that i think about it, would you say that nothing really changed in terms of the catching algorithm? yea, no bait has more chances of getting chests but if your numbers are correct, wouldnt you say that you might as well keep using bait so you at least get more profit from getting better fish while you are actively trying to catch chests
Got the betta now lol
@limpid charm Pretty much. ^ These are where/when/what with I would fish for chests now.
If you're at the point you're focusing on chests, you probably aren't fishing for income, so makes sense to focus on just the best rates imo. And that still means using some sort of bait.
Eh, at this point I'm still fishing for chests, yeah, but I'm also fishing for stuff to bring to cooking parties (which mostly means glow worms)
This is why I tend to just give people the info on the top several choices and let them decide what that means for them XD
Which is as follows:
Waterlogged Chests
-
NOT Elderwood: Waterlogged chests cannot be fished up in either EW biome. If you see someone pull in a chest, it's actually a quest item.
-
Kilima Rivers, reg. worms, evening and night (~6%)
-
Ponds with reg. or glow worms (~4%), slightly higher with glow worms morning and day
-
Kilima Lake, no bait or glow worms (~4%)
-
Bahari Rivers, glow worms (~3.5 to 4%)
-
Kilima Rivers, reg. worms, morning and day (3.5%)
-
Caves, no bait or reg. worms (~3%)
In general, with worms or no bait, fishing in starred nodes will up your chances slightly. With glow worms, it makes no difference.
When Maji Market is in town, I'd recommend fishing at the Fairgrounds (which are Kilima Lake waters). People do a LOT of fishing from the docks, so you'll almost always have full stacks of the Fishing with Friends buff (fish bite faster). It's also easy to find a party (chance at double loot). Since you can fish outside of nodes, there's no reason to fight over the bubbles.
ren those percentages for bubblys or regular?
is there any way to look at like a collection of what fish i caught and whatnot like in stardew valley?
As far as we know, there is no significant difference between regular fishing and bubbles...but this isn't something I've tested.
These numbers should be certain for non-bubbles, though.
Kind of. No formal compendium or anything, but if you open up the Accomplishments page (U on PC, no idea about console sorry), you can scroll down to Kilima/Bahari (Master) Fisher accomplishments
(And there are similar ones for EW too)
unlucky. perhaps in the future, thank you 🙂
It's far from ideal, a fishing log would be a nice touch
Regular, but bubbles don't make a huge difference. Tenths of a percent for no-bait and worms, imo not worth focusing on them.
Hey folks! Could someone fill my Maws request maybe? I'd be extreeeemely grateful!
where is the best place to fish in elderwood for pond fish?? i want more bubble spawns
So Ive been trying to put all the fish information into one spot because PaliaTracker doesn't have things like XP and what not so I've made a spreadsheet to push as much of it together as possible. If yall dont mind could you give some feed back or if you would like to help and happen to be fishing without focus could you let me know the XP you got on a specific type of fish and the details like starred/nonstarred vs caught/perfect catch?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fdkhc3PmittUPE-kKECNw-OsBkV82pmWZpbJjOORVyw/edit?usp=sharing
Probably a tie between Mitana and the pirate cave, but the pirate cave is easier to reset the nodes (just run into the puzzle room)
So what I'd do is fish out Mitana, then fish out the regular cave pond bubbles on the way to the pirate cave, fish/reset there until you're out, then go check on the pond in the NW of Mauvais Way
This is actually one of the cases where a tuning fork might come in handy. I'd go for ancient koi (fish in EW bay with worms) to make them, since they're cheap and abundant. Ancient Koi do not count as a "rare fish" for the tuning fork
Oh nice! Really? I thought nodes were universal though 👀
Maybe something like this kind of route?
Map from https://palia.th.gl/maps/Elderwood
Well now I just need starred majiri of war, but this is still good to know, TYVM!
Majiri of war are bay fish, of course, totally different biome 😂
Yeah, is the best spot for MoW in deep woods?
I caught an infected one there totally on accident and haven't seen it since
There are a few EW bay nodes in deep woods, but much more of them on the coast from De Mer upward
Okay, I wasn't sure if deep woods had higher spawn rate for specific fish vs. Other saltwater area
My superstition leads me to believe it does 💀
Ex. I heard Maws more common at De Mer & MoW more common in deep woods
No, the water is exactly the same everywhere that is considered that biome
Tysmmm
does anyone know if i put my bobber in the water before 6 pm, but reel in at 6 pm, ill still get the fish that spawns 6 pm + ?
No, it's based on when your bobber hits the water
hmm ancient koi can be caught without bait but dont show how much XP you get for it
Yeah, ancient koi show up both without bait and with regular worms, but much more commonly with worms
If you're using the wiki list of fishing XP, those are considerably out of date, last I checked
the EW update changed almost all of the XP values, from what I can tell, and then the recent "rebalancing" (to fix their silly mistakes) changed them again
I just haven't had the motivation to go fish up all the fish again
noone can blamew u for thaT
I think the perfect catch bonus may also have changed; it used to be a flat 20%, but now it seems to be less or more (depending on the fish)
xp is so muhc now u can outfish ur hook consumption
I've been making my own spreadsheet of all the fish stuffs so just trying to get the XP of each one now
thank you!
thank u so much for this tip btw, i got 2 infected nodes im farming rn
ohh they're gone now, is it limited?
nodes despawn 5 minutes after they are first fished from
so my usual strategy is to only fish from one, reset repeatedly until it disappears, then move to the next one, assuming I'm the only person fishing there
of course, if someone else comes through and fishes from all of them in a row, then there's not much you can do about that :) but we don't own the nodes, of course!
fortunately, another node spawns as soon as the previous one is gone - we just don't know where in that biome it will appear, necessarily
hence the route I posted earlier
yeah x.x im just looking for infected during the times majiri of war isnt spawned, so i feel like this is my best bet
for the infected mermaid
do you fish the nodes you dont want jsut to reset them? or is that a waste of resources
I wonder if the star nodes and the infected nodes share spawn points? I don't have any data on it either way
they probably do bc they all spawn in same spots
yeah, that would make sense - so yeah, in that case, I would fish out the star nodes as well
kk thanks
hey, starred angelfish or starred mermaids are nothing to sneeze at!
or even devilfish, they're worth the same as hypnotic morays
I am kind of cracking up with the realization that the ancient koi fish is actually now the cheapest and most available rare fish in the game - perfect for tuning forks! Nope, cannot craft tuning forks with ancient koi as of patch 0.193
it's the only rare fish that you can catch with no bait
(though it's much, much easier to find with worms)
... wait a second and here i though tha tit was practically a uncommon fish but ur right tuning fork
yeah, it is practically an uncommon fish! or even common! it's not worth very much if you sell it, which makes it worth it to craft with it, at least if you need tuning forks
imagine pranking poeple with them on rare taco party XD
lol I have seen that as... not a prank, sadly... because people get rarity and sell value contribution confused (understandably tbh)
yeay ur right its totally somethiing poeple who keep doing by accident lmao
ugh, trying to get star majiri of war is horrible
true
what's the highest rare value?
Rare? Angelfish
(Eels are next-best rare fish, and much more abundant)
thank you!
Cant read it as won't let zoom in 🤣 great idea though!
ahh is there a way for me to edit it to allow people to do that without editing cells
yeya its the rarest of hte short timeframe ones
i still think the starred river things are worse cuz those have almost no bubbles
its last star i need for EW
gz on ur starry shark then
thanks! got it and infected last night
think thats where all my luck went, cause im struggling with this infected mermaid and starred MoW lol
yippee!
Mermaid Fish, tips. TRICKS? Besides crying and throwing my life away fishing in the same spot for HOURS. HELP!?! please... Almost 6 hours fishing for this thing...
There's nothing you can do to affect the (quite low) drop rate; all you can do is (a) make sure you're in the right place and time with the right bait, then (b) do what you can to roll the dice faster and (c) be prepared when it's time to reel it in.
(a) Elderwood ponds (includes the cave fishing holes), any time, glow worms: if you're getting tons of turn pikes, you're where you need to be
(b) Fishing with Friends buff (someone has caught a fish near you) + trout dinner both make fish bite faster, so you roll the dice faster
(c) Major safe zone size booster hook + fisherman's brew (both make the reticle bigger) + maybe other buffs like fish stew if you struggle to keep up with other fighty fish - but the mermaid has a pretty predictable pattern: it likes to double jump, then swim across. You can easily reel on the "backswing".
and
(d) If you're tired of fishing to the point that it feels awful? Time for a break and to come back another day :) Or at least get yourself a change of scenery, maybe a stretch break? 6 hours is a LONG time to hit your head on a brick wall! Fishing for epics and especially legendaries is a long-term project.
With the Maji Market being closed, any guides on where it is best to fish for waterlogged chests / what bait to use? I'm thinking of fishing in the UG for that sweet friend fishing bonus.
Which is as follows:
Waterlogged Chests
NOT Elderwood: Waterlogged chests cannot be fished up in either EW biome. If you see someone pull in a chest, it's actually a quest item.
Kilima Rivers, reg. worms, evening and night (~6%)
Ponds with reg. or glow worms (~4%), slightly higher with glow worms morning and day
Kilima Lake, no bait or glow worms (~4%)
Bahari Rivers, glow worms (~3.5 to 4%)
Kilima Rivers, reg. worms, morning and day (3.5%)
Caves, no bait or reg.
^this is what ren said like 20 messages up
Thank you so much!
THANK YOU!, I finally after 7 hours caught it! THE ADVICE HELPED!!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Palia/s/UJNEOARDgt
I feel the same about that secret cave in Bahari that has rubies and a mine cart in it. I can’t remember where it is bc it’s hard to find but I’ve always hoped they’d do something with it like a special gem area that would spawn a certain type of gem once a week and it just be the room full of like 4-5 of them. The gems you usually get from ores.
Right it’s in the geyser hole in pulsewater plains
Any advice on catching the giant goldfish?
Pretty much the same as this, but with a different biome (ponds in Kilima, Bahari, and the home plot): #🐟│fishing-mining message
and you might not need the size booster hook; the goldfish is pretty docile, as far as it goes.
Thank you!!
If you're getting scarlet koi and mottled gobi, you're in the right spot :)
congrats!! hoping i get mine soon lol :(
omg, hooked one but lost it :(
Does anyone have a maws to spare I accidently sold mine not thinking about it and still need it for the relic
Wheres the best place to catch ancient koi and unbraan betta?
Is there any difference between the exquisite fishing bobber and the bobber Galdur's Bait or the one you get for completing the bundles?
Only difference is cosmetic. No functional effect.
Some people find it slightly easier to track some of the bobbers though, due to them standing out more.
Also, it's nice to have a different bobber to everyone else if there's a bunch of people fishing in the same spot
ok tyvm, and yes that's very true, nice to stand out
So, there is no best place to find fish. The chance of fishing them up is the same wherever you can catch them.
That said, Ancient Koi is an Elderwood Bay fish (so coast or near the Aqueduct), easiest with worms. Can be caught any time of day.
Umbraan Betta is evening/night only, glow worm only, Elderwood Ponds (so, anywhere else in EW basically)
Umbraan bettas is river, no? So mitana grove or in the little pool in mauvais way.
Those are the right spots, but the biome is called Elderwood Ponds. Basically, it's the freshwater in EW.
Bay and Ponds are the 2 fishing biomes in EW
Aah
Tysm i got em just need an angel fish and then can start bag of illusion tier 4
Cool, gj ^^
Angelfish is same spots as Umbraan Betta, just not at night. Also glow worm only.
Good luck 🙂
🙃🙃
If you havnt gotten a angelfish yet I can gift you one. 🙂
Wish i saw this earlier 😂 thank you tho
I am struggling to get the mermaid fish if you or anyone has one spare floating about?
Does anyone else think of Baldur's Gate looking at the Galdur's Bait from that one Vault of Roots bundle? Was that intentionally a reference?
no clue if its a reference since i havent played galdurs bait yet
the wiki says giant goldfish spawns in kilima/bahari ponds, is this true? someone just told me its only kilima and idk what's true
you should be able to catch them in any pond, including the house plot pond. i just think kilima's ponds have more star nodes than the other places
do i just run between the daiya pond and the mirror ruin pond? i need starred
... this never occurred to me, but you're probably right lmao
You can also reset nodes to fish from them again - I wrote up a thing on it recently, should come up if you search the channel!
pond water biome is in both maps not to be confused with elderponds
oh can i do that with the mirror ruin temple too?
There are also often a bunch of nodes at Hideaway Pond and Najuma's pond in Bahari; folks fishing for goldfish who don't want to fuss with resetting nodes just run back and forth up there and server hop when they get shoved to other ponds in the zone lol
yeah not sure what this person meant by only bahari haha
Yeah weird superstitions crop up
But all waters for a specific fishing biome have the same drop rate
If you're getting scarlet koi and mottled gobi, you're in a K/B pond!
(only exception is the Water Temple, which has cave fish plus ||the Ancient fish|| - it's a unique biome actually)
all of the temples are, I think
true but u really should not fish there unles its for the quest item there
I mean, unless you wanna
got my goldfish bahary only
lol meanwhile Mirror Pond has been my goldfish go-to, so
I rage quit!!! I'm starting to think the hypnotic moray doesn't even exist, I've fished all caves even underground for 3 irl days and nothing 😡
With glow worms, yes?
(hypnotic moray will only show up in Kilima/Bahari caves, i.e., Pavel Mines and the Underground - hopefully you weren't fishing in any other caves...)
But, a break sounds like a good idea if you're at the point of 😡
no need to get to the point of 🤬 y'know?
ty for the tips! got the giant goldfish
dont worry ulg et it eventually
where is the best place to fish for starred bahari river fish?
Anywhere that has the fishing points (the bubble thing) rly
used to be flooded fortres when i did it as bubbles reset if u walkt o far so deplete bubbles one side walk 150m to teh other bubble site there then then walk back to water bubb;le fish repeat
thank you!
Flooded Fortress may have been best when Duh did it, but imo, it is also still BY FAR the best spot now
Newbie question I know but if you're fishing in a party and you catch something, does everyone get the fish??
If you run out of nodes whilst running between the 2 ponds, server hop and try again imo
Sadly not
Oh nooooo. How are people catching all the starred fish them??! That seems so hard
Starred fish are only from the bubbles/ripples/whatever you want to call them.
They are a bit more difficult than non-starred, but as you upgrade your rod (and maybe use buffs if needed), fishing gets a lot easier
The way to get all the starred fish is just doing loops of where the bubbles spawn really, there are a few spots for each fishing biome that work better too.
As for fishing in parties, it is still helpful. As with everything in a party, you get a chance of double loot when catching a fish. But, you also get a hook speed buff when someone fishes near you (doesn't need to be in your party for this). This can stack up to 5 times and makes fish bite twice as fast overall. It also stacks with other hook speed buffs.
question. does the fisherman's brew work exactly the same as the major safe zone booster? i'm trying to save medals for the aquarium but spending on the booster is costing me too many medals
Works the same, they stack. Don't know if it's exactly the same amount they boost it by, but Fisherman's Brew is the only buff I tend to use personally
tysm ...you just saved me a bunch of medals! i too only use the brew, no other consumables but, i was also powering thru boosters and subsequently my medals ...so this helps tremendously
If boosters lasted longer, I'd consider using them, but to me they're just such a hassle haha
Plus they don't stack
i am currently trying out the speed increase one...omg i can't keep up lmao
By stack, here I mean multiple boosters into 1 inventory space
such a PAIN about that! one slot for ONE booster? which evil demon thought that one up? lemme at 'im!
I've actually not tried that one yet haha, but can imagine it being a double edged sword haha
i kid you not...i nearly lost the fish i was reeling and i REALLY needed it lol...rng has been good to me lately...one beetle plush after hitting one beetle in kilima (forget its full name) one blue streak chappa plush after killing ONE grey chappa...and THEN a starred fairy carp i had been chasing for DAYS...because einar wanted it...only i didn't want to give it up lol, so i was trying to fish a non starred version...and that was the fish i hooked on the insanely fast speed booster one and nearly lost lol...i mean it was a surprise because i'm not used to it but the difference was unexpected...suffice to say, it did what it said on the tin!
I am very jealous of that plushie luck haha
Congrats though ^^
And yeah, Fairy Carp are a pain
ty! lol...i was like the cheshire cat my grin was that wide 😅
I'm not a fan of the limited time fish in general though
such a short windown to catch them AND rare...omg i was sure i was never gonna get one...so ty RNG...you saved me this time
Willow Lamprey was the bane of my existence for a while haha
i don't understand the need to have such a short window AND make it rare...like, again, which demon thought that one up? i'll bet they like TO INFLICT PAIN! (ty Cysruleon, glad you spotted that lol)...
There's a difference between liking pain and liking inflicting pain
uh-oh...tha's one i haven't caught ...this is the first i've even heard of it! pls lord, let me find it...before someone requests it and it becomes a mission
I think it's only for Master Kilima/Bahari fisher accomplishment tbh
It's a Bahari Rivers, night only, with worm, fish from memory
i'm an achievement hunter...i'm gonna have to get this now that i know about it...sob
speaking of generally speaking whats up with devs making achivements that are just rng? what are you achieving by having something not in your controll happen? end rant
As am I haha. Fishing the starred fish is nothing compared to Makeshift items though. RNG on fishing the chests then RNG on getting items you don't already have...
You keep the average player playing for longer.
RNG achievements are not unusual in games tbh
A lot of achievements are more about luck or soulless grinds than actually accomplishing something
-cries in makeshift all mine-
And damn, my spelling today is atrocious
mine too...my typos are killing me...i CAN spell honestly...i just can't type it would seem
Agreed Duh. That's how I feel too.
what i need to fish is starry maws the king of sharks the only and only soulles obsidian eyed one
and 2 makeshift items (ilg et hte shark way sooner then those)
oh pls don't..i'm going to get an anxiety attack...i've also been trying to get a starred maws...may the RNG gods have mercy...i'm sick of the sight of lake shark, i know that
thats still 1500+ catching attempts on statistic average thats 7.5 maws
how to know which are outstanding? i have some but i've only been playing 2/3 months so i have many more to collect
u can see it in the achivement tab and i used a checklist for it on paliatracker
Either search Makeshift in your storage or check the accomplishment tab for it
yeay storage is what i also used cuz it was easier then finding the acihvement
off right now into the game to look this up...ty for the excellent info and chat, guys...catch ya later when i come crying about something else lol
Bye!
on the plus side, i just snaffled the starred spotted mantis...however, i also got a look at just how many starred fish i need to get...i feel praying might not be enough
Does anyone have an extra inyrevn mermaid by any chance
is the starred emerald real 😭😭
the wiki says emerald comes from copper nodes but I've been mining copper for hours irl and no emerald
It is, I have about 22. The emerald has about a 2% drop rate but it could be lower, definitely feels like it sometimes
omg lucky
A bit, but I am also level 500 in mining
damn how many hours have you played 💀
Only about 1200
1364 to be specific

its official my last 2 fish are mutated angler and void ray ^_^
ill be less than level 50 fishing with my entire fishing collections done LOL
(to be fair though i did skip a lot to save time on trying to get reels faster)
I've had the same experience with the speed booster hook - it makes it too twitchy and I can't control it well! Sometimes even fish stew is too fast for the fish that do a lot of jerky starts and stops.
To add to CS's reply: fisherman's brew is a minor safe zone size boost (slightly smaller increase) vs. the major one from the hook
My community of folks in-game have taken to "storing" hooks in unclaimed requests, lol, especially since you can "recycle" them by filling a request with a nearly-depleted hook (which then comes out at full durability for the recipient)
can i reset nodes with reth's storeroom?
or is going in/out of ug from zeki's bookshelf faster?
The best is Zeki's office in the hallway :) No server switch involved
i forgot that place existed omg
haha
thank you as always!
You're on a roll!
:D not stopping til 100
It is intended to give you a long-term goal that rewards persistence. Cozy games don't generally have a very high skill ceiling (or floor), because that's not what they're about. But you can finish RNG-based goals with slow and steady progress. (Plus there is some psychology involved with variable reward schedules, I'm sure ;P)
If the accomplishments don't appeal to your sense of pride, then they are completely, 100 percent optional. Most of them only award renown, which has limited uses and infinite non-accomplishment sources. Almost all of the remaining awards are cosmetic items (i.e., trophy furnishings)
but there are a few skill-based ones here and there :)
LOOOOL the fishing hole near Tamala's house still gives river fish outside of nodes and pond fish in nodes...
pompoms!
oh wow, how many hours did this take?
its hard to tell cause i didnt start grinding for finishing my collection til i was like 65% a few days ago, i was mostly lucky with a lot :D, but i followed really good strats shared by here to really help quicken the process
oh nice one! idk if I'm ready to invest all that time in this game yet lol
how many hours in the game in general?
around 500-600! also hard to tell bc i took a break a long time ago, and when this game first started it was only palia launcher no steam, so it could even be more than that
nice welcome!
thank you!
ahhhh..., tyvm for this informative post.
taking into account what you have said regards the brew's buff size, would it stack do you think, if i used the minor safe zone booster that i can craft and the brew *together *to create a "major" safe zone? yes potentially a dumb question but i'm trying very hard to accept i shall have to give up those lovely major zone boosters for a while 😅 because that aquarium and chest...i need em 🥹
re the speedy booster, lol, exactly as you described it...twitchy is a good description...i'm actually glad i don't have many of them to use up although, after catching a fish i had been hunting for days, it makes me wonder whether it isn't worth trying to master it...once i have my aquarium and chest ofc.
lastly, what a superb idea! requesting the booster of choice and keeping them in holding until you use em...that's 4 slots saved which is quite something! i need to find a good community like yours but i don't see a channel for finding any?
The thing you can craft is actually a minor rod health booster (minor version of the sushi buff). That said, they do stack.
Also, seriously don't be shy about requesting hooks
Plenty of us are way beyond needing fishing medals and buy hooks to hand out :)
Please, I beg, get them out of my storage 😂
hah! a flaw in my cunning plan. ty. i didn't remember that correctly.
i have actually requested them in-game but logged out lol...if they get filled...i shall be most happy
And by my "community" it's less an actual in-game org and more just a network of people who all know each other lol
I believe that only friends, in-game community members, and maybe party members can fill requests after the requester logs out
ahhh...i see...what a shame...it would have been nice to find a guild of sorts within the game...still, i'm sure in time i'll build a network too
yay my fish room is finally finish with all fish :D now need aquarium + gold fishing trophy to complete it
rushes to log back in >>>>>
XD
Send me a friend request (Eliot Reinald) and when I'm back on that character I will happily fill hook requests
sent friend request...you never seen me move so quick... lmao!
something i forgot as well, earlier you mentioned that even a near spent booster is in full health if donated? i learned something! usually i sell them when they are about to die on me...100 gold isn't too shabby, i figured...but this donating thing is also handy...ty for sharing!
Yep! As long as I don't lose track and break the damn thing by accident, I usually put a call out in chat to see if anybody needs one, and it gets them out of my bags AND makes the medals for them go further \o/
done that too a few times. they don't last long, at all.
Yeah, just 25 minigames
is that how many? how do you even KNOW that?
Uhhh combination of wiki and testing
(as with any wiki, do not take the wiki's word for anything without verifying for yourself lol)
on a random note, anytime i see your name it reminds me of the Ren from tiktok lol
I am not on TikTok, so it's not me lol
actually, it seems the wiki has outdated stuff from what i could tell...don't ask me what atm, because i have the brain of a goldfish but some of it seems inaccurate...at least to me
Yeah, it doesn't help that the game is (a) newer (b) still in beta, and therefore frequently in flux
oh lol...nah he's a musician/rapper person...his lyrics are good tbh...he's a mental health sufferer and stuff...i'm not into rap but for him i make the exception, mostly because he is a fellow brit and because he sings of stuff that is relateable
Oh, yeah, I had someone link me one of his songs because they told me my name kept earworming them with it lol
right!
i also saw somewhere that the original creators of the game sold it? but idk...although i had it followed on steam, i didn't really pay any attention until i started to see about elderwoods launch...it's still in early access i believe, makes me wonder if they will ever clear that...but that's a digression
i requested 4 boosters because i have no shame😳 and got TWO! i r happy...normally i'm loath to request for things but on this, my aquarium and chest come first
How feasible is it to reel in a maws without any fishing buffs?
lol i was just about to come in here and ask if anyone has any tips on catching maws
It wasn't sold per se, S6 was acquired wholesale by a larger studio (and leadership stayed in place, with the exception of one guy who left)
Iiii personally would struggle hard with that. It moves very far from side to side, and it's very punishing if you accidentally reel while it's jumping or out of the reticle
So at least the exquisite rod + something to make your reticle bigger is the minimum I'd feel comfortable using, personally
Here's the write-up: #🐟│fishing-mining message
anyone know where the best XP would be to farm for fishing guild tokens quickest?
I'm actually working on answering that question, but don't have it yet
i c
Totally doable as I no buff fish and have caught many (Hundreds) of lake sharks and a few maws.
I found a video of someone reeling one in. Doesn't look that much harder than a lake shark.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_JjVu0GeiM
It's not.
Here's a video of me reeling it in. Only buff is the fishing close to someone for faster hook time.
Yeah, once you know their movements you don't really need the buffs anymore
I've fished at least 100+ times at the proudhorn pass river without bait without getting the sashimi recipe, is it actually here or is the wiki lying to me
I know it's frustrating but end of the day you're not doing anything wrong, it's rng. Keep going, you WILL get it and good luck
Thanks to you I just fished it 😄
Yay, so glad to help haha, congrats
Im so sick of mossyfin
LOL Ren you still tryin to get rid of hooks 🙂
All the time all the time XD
I actually had to resort to dumping medals on glow worms (and subsequently selling them) a few weeks ago 😭
wth ren u criminal
I've got 4 fish left for the bundles and so far today, no luck
Anyone want to grind for Maws?
Anyone have a spare mermaid?
I'm fishing in Elderwood and sometimes I catch fish using a different bait than listed on the wiki. For example, I just caught ancient koi without any bait, but the wiki says you catch it with a worm. What gives?
Here's another one. Lake shark is supposed to be worm, but I'm catching it using glow worms.
it is both mostly glowworm thjough
I don't know why the wiki doesn't list both baits for fish that can be caught with multiple. PaliaTracker.com has the correct bait listings for all fish.
Some can be caught with two different baits, but they are more likely to be caught with one or the other
cuz it is designed with hte assumption of one bait type for everything changing that later can be a total pain
Yeah, I suspect that was why the decision was made to change the wording to "more attracted to..."
Except Lake Sharks are MUCH more common with glow worms
I see why they did that. Since Elderwood has a smaller variety of fish than other zones, there would be too little variety when it comes to some location/time/bait combinations.
And lake shark is there on glow worms as practice for maws.
i still think they swapped maws and lakesharks difficulty as maws is impossible to fail reeling
lakesharks however most difficult fish by far
(and im really happy they did)
Ok so is there some trick for catching Maws? I have fished hundreds of lake sharks with GW and not a single one. Yet some people have hundreds every other week for parties?
For the parties, either they're having multiple people bringing only a few each (splitting the fish role) or they're not getting them legitimately.
If you have a big enough community of fishers, it's possible; either they can split the fish each party, or rotate (so one person saves them up for a long period and then contributes them all at once)
Here is a writeup, though: #🐟│fishing-mining message
How do I start getting rare fish?
I already have an exquisite rod and use glow worms
Rare fish are just rare, keep fishing and you will get them eventually
Just luck as to when you find them
I just caught a few haha. I was fishing in the wrong spots!
The place you fish doesn't impact your chances of getting rare stuff...as long as you are in the same fishing biome at least
If you are on the Bahari Coast, no matter where on the coast you are, you have the same chance of getting each fish. Same for any other region.
I meant like I was overlooking fishing in the rivers when certain rare fish are only found there
Oh, if you were looking for specific rare fish, then yeah.
palia tracker is great for working out where to fish for stuff
So I'm finishing the bundle up and having a dilemma regarding the giant gold fish I fished around kilima's ponds and no luck at all I caught alot of Gobi, scarlet koi and cloud fish any suggestions which pond I should fish out off? did not start in Bahari Bay's ponds, thanks for any advice in advance.😁
All ponds have the same chance of you fishing Giant Goldfish, it's just luck when you find it. You can even fish it on the home plot pond.
If you care about finishing the Master Kilima/Bahari Fisher accomplishment, then might make sense to aim for a starred one (you could then request a non-starred for the bundle).
Best place for starred Pond fish is bahari. Run between the pond by Hideaway stables sign and just outside Hodari's house, fishing in the bubbles and running back and forth.
(When I say all ponds, I should probably specify all Kilima/Bahari Ponds...EW is different)
Does the rng update if i leave my bobber in the water even after i get a bite? Like waiting for the fish to cycle through? Or will it give me the same fish until i reel it in?
once ur bobbers lands in the water the drop is chosen
gotto recast if udont like it
dont ask how we know this
😂😂 thanks mate ill say nothing
Looking for a good reliable source for Iron Ore BESIDES the mines?
u can buy bars at least at sifuus cashregister
DOH! I completely forgot! Thanks! 😂
Just looked up the price and it is too darn high. Cash flow is a problem. Are there any other sources I can mine iron ore?
i mean like mining spots its all around cliffsides in baharybay places vary alot from time to time
Hey is Elder Shark and maws the same thing?
Mhm the river shark plush is the lake shark, and the elder shark plush is the maws
Oooooh thank you! I was confused lol I got the elder shark plush but no maws😔😔
Yeah the "whole" plush comes by itself with any type of bait, but the "fin" plush comes as a bonus when catching the actual shark type itself
the maws fin is guaranteud when catching maws since maws is already way to rare
What is the best way to fish up the makeshift boxes? I seem to never get any
fish as tho your life depends upon it :D...joking aside...so far as i know, there isn't a best way...it's literally pot luck.
Best rates for just waterlogged chests are:
Kilima/Bahari Ponds with Glow Worms during morning/day (4.2%)
Kilima Rivers with regular worms during evening/night (5.7%)
The EW patch notes are often believed to say that no bait is the best option, but really, they buffed the no bait rates slightly and reduced worm/glow worm chest rates, just not enough to make no bait the best (highest rate with no bait is about 3% now)
Also there is no longer any major difference in chance for a chest when fishing in a fishing node/bubble.
The real issue is managing not to get duplicates from your chests, but that really is just RNG...
If you want to compare rough rates for chests across different areas, Ren has a post here #🐟│fishing-mining message
