LBF is the recipe you cook Because It's There type challenge ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • it doesn't count toward any accomplishment other than the generic "cook x times" ones maybe
  • it's not good money (the 2 ginger and 4 green onion don't count toward the sell value, knocking it down about 20% from what it should be)
  • it's not good for focus (overkill even unstarred)
  • it's excellent XP BUT it's minimum 2 minutes per round ๐Ÿ˜ฐ so it's not time-efficient for that

There is, in short, NO external reason to cook Lucky Braised Fish other than liking the challenge XD

mortal quartz
#

Rice cake stir fry gives you 16 seconds per step; spicy crab fried rice allows 15 seconds per step; LBF is 14 seconds per step. Cakes give 18 seconds per step, and for muujin Bahari, 21 seconds per step.

23 seconds per step is typical for intermediate recipes.

#

Oh, and chapaa onigiri is 20s per step, and that one is ANNOYINGLY tough because it has 3 step layers.

(chop chapaa meat + chop sprouts -> mix butter -> sear chapaa meat)

im so new tho i just figured out you can buy event food and it is sometimes starred so i need to do tons more hot pot and im already tring to get the hot pot wins for the plot item

#

i checked and i am missing 4 recipes from having cooked everything from the lunar new year, spice n corn, and cooking by the book being completed in starred and unstarred

shell saddle
#

I just wanted one of each thing starred on my plot, though I didn't know that it didn't count towards accomplishments for cooking. But jeez does LBF take a lot of ingredients too. I have yet to make a recipe that seems worth selling. I'm only like level 7 and I haven't made all of the recipes I have unlocked yet, but in nearly every case, I'd make more or almost as much just selling the ingredients it seems? It's just cooking for the starred food for my plot, gifting, and eating.

#

LBF costs 100g in just cooking oil. 160g in soy sauce. That's 260g for just those, and the max you can sell it for is 198g for a starred version.

#

Rainbow trout is the cheapest trout at 90g when selling a basic one. Trout dinner gets you 69g for a starred dish.

So far I've been guided by red โŒ - I see one and think, ok, what do I have to do before I can do this. But isn't there some way to read the recipe to know before you start? How did people figure out that cake flowchart? Lol!

#

If it was all just trial and error, like I do, has anyone put steps or flowcharts on a website or something? Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

mortal quartz
# upbeat ravine So far I've been guided by red โŒ - I see one and think, ok, what do I have to do...

Yes, you can view all the steps and their ingredients/tasks by clicking on the icons for the different stations before you start the recipe. Outside of the game, you can look the recipes up on the wiki (palia.wiki.gg). They have a chart that lists the different tasks, HOWEVER, be aware that if a recipe requires you to do the same task more than once, the wiki format doesn't take that into account. That said, there are recommended step orders for solo cooking also on the page for each dish.

upbeat ravine
#

I tried that - it does help some. Maybe I'll get better at deciphering it with practice. I'll check the website too, thanks!

mortal quartz
#

It does take a bit of practice, yeah :) A lot of recipes have similar "chunks" to them - like if there's herb butter (mix) needed, then after a while you get to know that it needs the spice sprouts done first. Or spicy pepper paste (mix) needs a pepper chopped first. Frosting and batter need sweet leaf (mix) done first; and so on.

#

OH! I forgot! PaliaParty.app also has flowcharts for most of the recipes. (Some are not 100% accurate, but they're mostly pretty good.) You can view them by creating a private party for that recipe.

upbeat ravine
#

Ah. Lots of practice, so I'll get better. And similar patterns help me a lot. Good to know! (I'm a retired programmer. I'm good with patterns. :D)

mortal quartz
#

You'll pick it up quick, then :D

#

You also start learning little tricks, like when adding something to the pan triggers a stir/flip, and when a stir/flip is just based on time elapsed

How to see those flowcharts, that's what I wanted, yes!!

mortal quartz

Haven't tried that yet, but I saw the recommendation in the thread here that Steak Dinners are good focus food for solo or duo cooking. I have a friend - neither of us have tried multi person cooking yet, and were wanting to try something simple first with just the two of us.

The subsequent flips are timed, but you have to add other things first to trigger them. If you don't get the ingredients in the pot fast enough, it is possible to run out of time before the timer to start the flips elapses. Not a bug, just a tough, complex recipe :(

gentle urchin
#

heyyy so i was wondering if someone wanted to help me make chili oil dumplings? i have everything except spice sprouts and ive never had spicy peppers chapaafire

mortal quartz
mortal quartz
# upbeat ravine I'll take tips! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry for delay: When cooking steak dinner as a duo, I've found the following helpful:

  • Best to always split up the basic dough (wheat) and the chopped spice sprouts, because they each are needed for a later step, and if one person does both, it delays everything
  • Starter chops spice sprouts ASAP, then handles the flips
    • Having a prep table very close to the stove helps
    • First flip triggers 15 seconds after the recipe starts
    • Adding the herb butter triggers the second flip
    • The bread can go in to finish the dish, so you don't have to wait for it, but nothing bad happens if you do add it sooner
  • Other person can roll dough (wheat), bake the bread, and mix the herb butter
    • I like to put the dough in the oven, mix the butter while it bakes, then pull the bread out (this is easy if you put the mixing table right near and at right angles to the oven)
upbeat ravine
#

I was thinking of moving my stations a bit farther apart actually, if we use my setup. I have mine so close to each other I have to jump to get inside my outdoor "kitchen". Lol! (It's a rectangle with two preps facing two mixers on the sides, two stoves on one end, and an oven on the other.)

As someone who regularly hosts parties using fancy fish, I sometimes have to turn people away who want to contribute fish for rare fish stew. Like, can't fit everybody who has fish into the time limit, lol. Half the time you're doing people a FAVOR by helping them feel like they're putting their resources (which they otherwise have to STORE, mind you...) to sufficiently effective use. Like, it feels really, really good to bring your fish to a big party because you're literally multiplying your effort to catch them.

Also, generally it's not just one person always bringing the fish, AND it's still a better use of the fish than just selling it. The fish person is not losing money - in fact, with double-dari epic poke, they're getting back 60% more money than just selling the fish just for the rounds where they contribute fish. (For most parties, it's several people splitting up the fish contribution, unless someone really really wants to clear out a stash they've been saving up, so for the majority of the party the fish-bringers are chopping or mixing cheap stuff.)

The only things that affect the sell value of a dish are:

  • the unstarred sell values of all of the ingredients. Those are added together and then multiplied by 0.375, rounded down, to get the base dish sell value for one dish of the food.
  • then, if the dish turns out starred, you add +50% of that base value, rounded down, to get the starred value
#

"how long it takes you to cook the recipe" is a factor in your chances of starring the dish, but doesn't directly affect the sell value.

marsh drum
#

i knew it effected the starred chances but couldnt remember if it also effected value LOL nowoted

mortal quartz
#

Macarons have no variable ingredients - unlike cakes, where you have "any fruit" (variable), they are always flour, egg, milk, and sweet leaf. (Starred or unstarred sweet leaf doesn't matter because the dish sell value formula uses the unstarred sell value for all ingredients.)

gentle urchin
mortal quartz
#

BUT... the sell value of sweet leaf changed with the big economic update in 0.180. It went from being worth 15g to being worth 23g. The other ingredients' unstarred sell values have stayed the same.

So, let's see if the math maths...

New macarons made with sweet leaf after 0.180 have a dish sell value formula that's like:
(23 + 5 + 12 + 15) * 0.375
or 20g, after you round down.
Starred, that +50%
or 30g.

...well. That's weird.

Old macarons should be worth 17g unstarred, 25g starred.

#

I have NO idea what's going on there! ๐Ÿง

gentle urchin
#

i joined october 2024 and i think the update you said is from may of that year

#

mortal quartz
#

The wiki's values are also all over the place, though that section of the dish pages has flummoxed me since I was a brand new player ngl

#

not to mention the value on the recipe tooltip not matching reality

#

Also, 34g? is the pre-cake nerf value for starred macarons. I think.

#

Maybe.

#

The only other sources for macarons are a letter from Tish and from completing a found item quest

gentle urchin
#

that mightโ€™ve been where i got one of mine

mortal quartz
#

Given the tooltip discrepancy, the game-generated ones might handle the rounding differently, or they might just have manually-entered sell values?

#

In which case that would explain it, because the unrounded unstarred sell value is 20.625 (which would, if rounded normally, round up to 21), and +50% would be 30.9375, rounding up to 31.

#

You know what's super duper extra weird, though

#

When you COOK a celebration cake, if you use 3 apples, they top out at 187g each, unstarred...

#

and if you use blueberries for the fruit frosting, instead, they can be worth a good chunk less - as little as 159g each, unstarred

teal oyster
#

i still wonder why do engame poeple do focus foods party when cakes are the same effort for waaayyy more focus so who cares if u waste half its focus by getting more then u could add to ur 1k bar its still more economical then inferior foods that take the same time and materrial cost to make

mortal quartz
#

Petit fives confuse me utterly, though, on every level.

They aren't fast for their focus amount, comparatively, and they have about as many irreducible step layers as cakes (SL -> batter -> oven -> pentagons). Additionally, they not only also have the SL-> frosting dependency chain that cakes have, but they also have a completely separate third chain (fruit paste + cornmeal -> fruit drizzle) WITH a flip step.

As a result, any delay in any one of those chains slows the whole thing down, because one person has to wait for the 1-2 people ahead of them in the chain to complete their tasks.

(Though it's true that with cakes you're doing the whole four-step chain in triplicate - though that also means they can back each other up to some extent.)

#

That said, I'll agree that they can be both fun to make (especially if you're already used to cakes) and aesthetically pleasing to think about eating. Tiny cakes! What's not to like? XD

mortal quartz
# zealous raptor Hi! Quick question. I'm going to host a cooking event on my plot soon and I'm wo...

"Best focus food" will depend a lot on your group's needs and preferences.

For making gold, the most popular recipes are...

  • Poke Bowl with top-tier epic fish and dari clove or heat root salsa โ€” very valuable ingredients, minimum 8 participants (with double roles)
  • Sushi with other epic fish โ€” minimum 4 participants
  • Fish stew, sashimi, and (imo less preferably) fish tacos with top-tier rare or any-tier epic fish โ€” minimum 2-3 participants
  • Celebration Cake with apples for the fruit frosting โ€” minimum 9(?) participants with double/triple roles
  • Muujin Bahari with brightshrooms for the chopped mushrooms (optional, still makes fine money with morels) โ€” minimum 9 participants with double/triple roles

In general, the more you split up the ingredients and effort, the better, as long as you don't sacrifice speed.

The fish recipes work best if you have several people rotating in to contribute the fish (and dari cloves if applicable), but they also work well if you have one enthusiastic fisher who just wants to share the wealth!

mortal quartz
# zealous raptor So focus food = celebration cakes Any alternatives to epic fish dishes?I'm host...

I only recommend celebration cakes as focus food IF your group is already organized to make them cheaply (i.e., with a full party of 18 players) AND likes food that gives a high amount of focus. (Muujin Bahari is another popular one for that.)

Both of those recipes give more focus than your maximum focus bar if they turn out starred, which makes them not only expensive to eat (even for the unstarred version), but also wasteful, in my opinion, if your group is short on gold (rather than having minimal playtime/energy to spare, like DS's situation). But some people don't care about that and just want to bloopclunk, eat once to fill/mostly-fill the bar, and go.

#

If the folks you're playing with prefer to eat more often, then there are other, more efficient options, especially if they're newer players who may not have maxed their bars out yet.

teal oyster

mortal quartz
# compact kelp I have a cooking related question. Do you get more exp for higher level recipes,...

Cooking XP per recipe is based on the number of minigame steps the recipe has (so, loosely speaking, it's based on the recipe's complexity).

(For most recipes, the timer is also based on the number of steps.)

In my experience, there's a sweet spot between XP per round and the amount of time it takes to cook. If you're cooking solo, campfire cooking can actually be pretty powerful for just cranking out XP, but otherwise, cooking with others (particularly cake parties, which are often about 1 minute per round) is much faster and cheaper than anything you will do solo.

heykiah often recommends cooking whatever you're going to cook anyway, i.e., for focus food, if you're going to cook solo, as opposed to choosing recipes based on EXP.

If you want to get to level 10 in just a few hours: go sweet leaf gathering, then join cake parties! This will also net you a fair bit of money. paliaparty.app and #1143270926394335282 will have listings of public cake parties. (There are other party types, too, of course.)

If you'd rather plug at it solo, I'd recommend either hunting or fishing (to level those, too) and then grill the results. You can set up a circle of 4 campfires to make it more efficient. If you're grilling unstarred fish, in particular, this gives a chance at gaining a 50% value increase whenever the grilled fish turns out starred, which is basically like getting a free fish out of it.

a cooking party is where a group of people each take on a role of a recipe to complete repeatedly in order to cook a certain number of dishes! you sign up for the role prior to the cooking party, and make sure the ingredients required for your role (if any) are either in your inventory OR in your storage :)

mortal quartz
# dull light Anyone know where the best place to find star quality spice sprouts are?

Spice sprouts in general (including the ~10-20 percent chance of starred ones spawning) can be found in Mirror Fields and around (west/a little south) of the farmhouse.

It is also possible to get starred ones in the ingredients bags from the prize wheel in the Underground (uses coins from playing hotpot down there)

10 percent chance of getting 3 starred spice sprouts from one ingredients bag, which you get 45 percent of the time when spinning the prize wheel. So, if I did my math right... 4.5 percent chance overall of one spin on the wheel giving you 3 starred sprouts.

215 spins to have an overall 50/50 chance of ending up with 30 starred spice sprouts... that's somewhere between 215 and 430 games of hotpot per stack.

Conclusion: go run laps in western Kilima ๐Ÿ˜‚ and gather the unstarred ones as you go

#

But... most of the time you will not need starred sprouts

hi, sorry if this is a noobish question. Is there an ideal way to level cooking? Im level 5 right now and i feel like i dont really have much options, food wise. I'd really like to get to 10 as fas as possible but not sure what meal will help me so i can go bulk farm the ingredients.

marsh drum
mortal quartz
#

If you don't care about money/focus, you can also grill anything else that will go on the grill (i.e., meat from hunting, morels from foraging - or bought from the General store, oysters, etc.)

Multiple campfires can knock the time per recipe down to ~5 seconds if you rotate among them

#

But before all of that: make sure you upgrade your focus bonus at the Phoenix Shrine in NW Kilima (behind Phoenix Falls)

#

That plus keeping yourself fed is the single biggest factor in how much effort it takes to level.

#

But all of the solo/grindy methods absolutely pale in comparison to the XP from organized cooking parties

#

Celebration Cake is very slow/expensive to cook solo, but if you get together with ~18 others, you only have to bring what is needed for the part you're covering, which makes it relatively cheap. Even with zero focus in your bar (no focus bonus), that recipe gives 340 XP per round.

#

And in an organized party, one round typically takes about 1 minute: ~5.6 base XP per second.

For comparison, top-speed campfire cooking is about 5 seconds for 20 base XP, or 4 base XP/second... and you blow through ingredients much faster.

#

(and it's boring)

tough gazelle

In addition to oysters Akwinduu, oyster meat is used for:

None of the recipes it's used for are particularly gold-efficient focus food, nor are they particularly good money for the time and ingredients involved. However, it might not hurt to hang onto a handful of oyster meat (starred, maybe) for helping other players with the cook-all-the-things accomplishments and/or villagers' weekly wants.

If you want to turn a profit from your oyster meat, I suggest feeding it raw to glow worms. Both starred and unstarred oyster meat increase in value by 29g (quadrupling or tripling their starting value) when turned into glow worms and HarvestBoost fertilizer.

That said, grilling your oysters will get the meat processed and gone much faster and will earn you some cooking XP, so that might be a reason to go that route, if you don't need the money but do need the storage space quickly.

When cooking solo, fish stew made using all unstarred ingredients is worth more unstarred than the ingredients are, just barely, and if you star it (maxes out at ~50 percent chance if you're speedy/good at chopping garlic/at a higher cooking level) it gains +50 percent in value over the unstarred version.

The reason this is true for fish stew is that it has

  • no store bought ingredients (cost double what they contribute to dish sell value)
  • no produce (which usually must be starred past a certain level in gardening and also can be processed in other ways to increase their value)

If you use starred stuff, this advantage disappears as you ONLY profit if the dish turns out starred.

#

The star rate does get higher, but never to 100 percent

#

This is all just cooking solo, though

#

Cooking in groups is different math

mortal quartz
#

One of the better ways to take advantage of this property of fish stew, imo, is to get together with a fishing friend (or several). You all take turns starting the recipe (fish + spice), chopping garlic, and stirring the pot to finish the dish (free role). That way, you basically split the contribution of the fish, spice, and garlic among you over multiple rounds.

If you have more than 3 people, the additional ones can also chop garlic. As long as they finish chopping before the stir finishes, they get credit for the dish. (It's helpful to wait a little to give everyone time, but not too long, as time-to-completion is one of the factors in whether the dish turns out starred.)

This also allows you to profit from starred fish as well, since you are splitting the cost with others โ€” and higher-value starred fish will result in the dish being starred more of the time.

#

This also works with e.g. sashimi (and divides the fish role from the spice contribution), which is why you'll see sashimi parties up on PaliaParty.app pretty frequently. Sashimi needs the overprep folks to have lots of rice already grown, which requires advanced planning, whereas garlic can be bought from the general store at the last minute if need be. (That said, all you have to do for rice is start it on the stove and stir, which is easier for people who are not as comfortable with chopping.)

#

Same idea with fish tacos, but I'm... frankly biased against fish tacos ๐Ÿ˜‚ The folks on corn have to fight the UI to start their task, since it comes after the fish on the prep table, plus rolling takes a long time. You end up with "oops" fish (wastes the fish), and it's a struggle to keep the time-to-completion short. (Even worse, corn takes a whopping 5 days to grow, compared to 3 for riceโ€”66% longerโ€”but it only contributes 48% more value than rice to the dish sell value... and it's still minuscule compared to the fish.)

  1. Cooking is still random and afaik being in a party doesn't change the RNG for whether the dish comes out starred. Your best chances to get a starred dish is to have all starred ingredients and to complete all the mini games without failing (chopping, mixing, etc) in the fastest time possible but even then, it is still random and you can still do all the things perfectly with all starred and occasionally it ends up nonstarred.

  2. Unfortunately being in a party doesn't give you a chance at more food. It just makes recipes go quicker and you personally have to use less of your own ingredients so you can make more food in less time. Also, you don't have to be in an actual "in game party" to cook with people as long as each person does at least one step in the recipe they get the food at the end.

re point #2: "party" terminology can be a little confusing. There is the informal player term "cooking party," as in birthday party: "lots of people in one place for a purpose" and then there is the formal game mechanic party that gives the buff, as in adventuring party.

You don't need to be in an adventuring party to get the food from cooking together, and the buff does not benefit the actual cooking in any way. (It also does not buff XP gain; I hear that one sometimes, too.)

The reason to form an adventuring party while cooking is that cooking earns a lot of XP pretty fast and there is an accomplishment for earning amounts of XP while under the party buff.

To further expand...
To get credit for cooking a dish you must either:

  • start the recipe
  • complete a recipe minigame: chop, mix, roll, stir, flip, or remove an ingredient - not finished dish - from an oven

If one person begins a minigame with their ingredient and then leaves the station, then another person uses the ingredient left on the station to finish the minigame, then the person who did the minigame gets credit, and the person who put the ingredient down does not (unless they did something else).

"Add Ingredients" also does not count without an attached minigame.

They are all of the recipes you can buy at the Tavern/Inn cash register (or from Reth's cash register in the Underground, same list). The ones that are exclusive to the LNY market are not included in the accomplishment.

The ones you are missing are Steamed Fish, Kimchi Fried Rice, and Stuffed Cabbage rolls.

The wiki also helpfully has visual lists for all of the completion accomplishments, if you need to look up any of the others.

mortal quartz
mortal quartz
# rain hazel dunno where people get 200 epic fish

Usually it's not just one person contributing fish; people take turns, so like for a 200x each person might bring 30 or 40. Sashimi is also generally rare fish, not epic... hence the very large numbers, because you get rare fish about 5x the rate of epic fish.

But, sometimes you end up with folks who have just accumulated a bunch of fish because they haven't been able to make it to other parties shrug

Also, usually if you are OP, you don't have to stay for the whole party. If you have 200 extra rice, then great! Bring 200 rice. But if you only have 100 or 50 or 20 rice, then you could show up with just those, do your rice, and then either leave or maybe stay and be social. It depends on the host's rules, of course.

Leveling up in non-gardening, non-cooking skills has a few purposes:

Levels 1-10: unlock new recipes for better tools and other items to assist you

Level 10+: each level up earns you 10 guild medals, which can be used to purchase special furnishings and also items relevant to the skill. I use foraging medals to buy dari cloves, for example. Fishing medals can be used to buy hooks (boosters) that give you a very powerful fishing buff and last for 25 catches each. To get the new Spa Day set, you need furniture crafting medals... etc.
However, the weekly challenges will also earn you 100 medals per week in each skill, so it's not like you earn ZERO medals if you level up more slowly.

Number go up is fun! (not true for everybody, but for some)

You can earn up to double XP if you keep yourself stocked on focus, so you progress/earn guild medals faster, but since you still earn the base XP for everything (as fern explained), it's not strictly necessary. You can ignore focus entirely and take the game at a slower pace! (The level cap for each skill is 9,999, also.)

As kiah said, cooking parties will level you up considerably faster, especially cake parties (large XP, faster recipe than the few that give even more XP)

However, campfire cooking is pretty fast if you rotate around several fires - and if you're fishing anyway, it's a good way to get more money out of the unstarred common and uncommon fish that you already plan to sell.

mortal quartz
# clear sail I am going to be hosting my first ever cooking party and streaming it Saturday h...

I would suggest hosting a recipe that you are very familiar and comfortable with, if it's your first time hosting.

The popular money parties are:

  • Cakes with starred apples for fruit frosting (yes, still!)
  • Poke Bowl with starred, top-tier epic fish and dari salsa (or sometimes heat root salsa)
  • Sashimi with starred rare glow worm fish (cloudfish and blue spotted rays, mainly)
  • Fish stew with same fish (often with heat root as the "any spice")
  • Muujin Bahari

And other recipes are popular as focus foods.

However, lots of cooking parties are currently on hold because people are busy doing bug hunting runs XD So you might be filling a niche!

(not my graphics work)
but the answer is poke bowls, because the total of the ingredients' unstarred sell value is higher than sushi's, even if you aren't using fancy spices (heat root or dari) in the salsa.

If you're a person bringing dari or epic fish, poke bowls are a better return on your effort investment, but can be slightly harder to organize due to needing three people to bring rare/epic spices, instead of two for sushi.

You have options!

  • if you need cotton itself, you can grow it in your garden from cotton seeds (5 days, 2 cotton per plant, or 3 cotton with successful harvest boost buff)
  • can buy cotton itself from the farm stand cash register for 180g each

If you need fabric:

  • craft from 2 cotton using a loom (unlocked furniture level 2)
  • buy from furniture store cash register for 190g each
  • if you are very early game, a few quests award it, including the one to find shells for Jel for dye

marsh drum
# stone coral Hello all! Only been playing the game for 2 months and I have questions about co...

to start, yes you can participate if you don't have the recipe! and how the supplies works is based on the steps! so whoever starts the recipe must have the starting ingredients, but anyone else participating only needs the ingredients for the step they're signed up for, if it requires one (this depends on the recipe yesyes) so let's say you're in charge of chopping the garlic, you only need to have enough garlic for the number of rounds you're going to be doing, and every one else will take care of their own role!

#

also let's say youre just cooking with one other person, as long as you complete one step of the recipe, both people will recieve the end product :)

Is there a way to suggest to the admins to make cooking easier? I don't mind having to combine 15-20 ingredients, it's the fact that every time i try to make certain dishes I have to flip the pan 30 times and it still doesn't register as having flipped. or every single item has a different chopping cadence. Or that you mess up ONE thing and waste everything you prepared already instead of saving it for a future attempt. Or that the hardest dishes are so hard they're not even worth making. mortal quartz
#

This won't help the issues you're having necessarily, but some smaller workarounds include cooking with other people (makes the harder dishes much, MUCH easier), which may also let you complete dishes if you are having difficulty with one minigame type (chopping, flipping).

I struggled HARD with chopping and flipping when I started the game - like I repeatedly failed to chop garlic or mushrooms for the super basic soups, and I found it incredibly stressful. I ended up teaming up with a friend who was good at/enjoyed rhythm games, and we would cook steak dinner together. He'd handle the pan and chopping spice sprouts, and I'd roll the wheat and mix the butter/bake the bread. It took a looooot of time and practice for me to ease myself into being able to chop and flip without my heart rate going way up, lol.

For chapaa masala specifically, one can be purchased using cooking guild medals to complete the bundle. (Dari cloves are way too precious for me to be willing to spend them on bundles unless specifically called for, lol)

Yeah, if you would rather not cook, preserves are the way to go. Apple jam is the best in terms of focus per gold eaten (though they are mostly all about the same, ~2 focus per gold - double buying food for money), but production speed may be a problem if you do a lot of hunting or anything.

There is also always the option to just not eat. You will miss out on your focus bonus, so you will level more slowly, but you don't stop gaining XP entirely.

Recipe XP is based on the number of minigame steps it has, so more complex recipes give more XP per dish. However, they also take longer to cook, especially solo, so may not be "faster" per se, and will often be more expensive. Check the Experience page on the wiki for a list.

Cooking in groups makes complex recipes both faster AND cheaper, since you split the work and the ingredients with other players.

Cake parties are one of the fastest ones ways to level cooking: 340 base XP per round of cake, and at a well-run party, each round is about a minute. Other recipes give more XP per round, but are slower.

Don't underestimate campfire cooking for XP, either! With a circle of 4-5 campfires, you can rotate around inside the ring and generate XP pretty quickly. (It's also a good way to squeeze a little more gold out of unstarred fish you were going to sell anyway.)

#

caps out at 100 percent, and double XP on everything is no joke

You can commune at each of them repeatedly, but they give different effects. Phoenix ups your focus bonus %, and Dragon raises your max focus bar capacity

#

So that is where I recommend new players spend their renown. Writs can wait.

Ty! I probably could have saved a few hundred renown ๐Ÿ˜‚ I farmed the writs lol

If an action runs you fully out of focus, chances are you missed out on some of it

mortal quartz
# cold ermine Im definitely gonna do this! Thank you

I generally recommend that new players put all their renown into the Phoenix shrine first until they reach ~50-60% focus bonus, by which point you'll start needing/having access to bigger focus foods. This is also the breakpoint where you start seeing diminishing returns for your renown.

At that point, you can upgrade your max focus until it hits 500 or so. Then alternate between the two shrines until they're both maxed out.

Hi guys, new to this channel. I was wondering do I have to use general (non-star quality) ingredients for general cooking and cannot use star quality ingredients for the cooking? Always have tons of star-quality vegetables but few star-quality spices ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Hello! A friend of mine is having an issue where he can't cook on any of his plots. Like the cooking menues are grey so he can't type F in front of them. He previously used his plots and never had a problem, it's just happening from nowhere, do you know anything about that? (and no one can use his plot to cook BUT he can cook on others plots)

Belatedly: from gardening, stickerpacks are only from tilling and not from harvesting, right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far the full list seems to be...
catching fish, mining loot, bug catching loot, hunting loot, tree chopping loot, picking forageables, opening oysters, and tilling garden soil

Did I miss anything?

should only be tilling yeah unless I missed something :DuckHUH:

list seems to be correct :muujinnodders:

It's during nearly any activity and I have gotten stickers from things that don't give xp like tilling soil and opening oysters, and notably not just when leveling up

When cooking you're supposed to have the circle go all the way around before stopping on the large circle-
It's possible you're experiencing some lag on your end (it happens to me)
If anything you could try to file a ticket with support

Whatโ€™s the best spot to farm silk thread? I need to make silk but I donโ€™t know where I can get a lot of it on a daily. I tried FF last night and only found 1 vampire crab .. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

tardy bobcat
#

I usually walk away with about 50 to 70 silk a day from absent minded bug catching, and especially if you do lures where azures and milipedes pops up a lot, you can walk away from a lure with a lot of silk too.

In Bahari: rainbow butterfly, jewelwing, amber beetle, fairy mantis for epics that drop. Leafstalker, blue glowbug, hairy millipedes, bright eyes butterfly, pink centipede, azure stonehopper spitfire cicada, purple snail, vampire crab will all drop.

You can do lures for easily for purple snails post 6pm and azures and milipedes any time of day. Leafstalkers from sweet leaf. Pink centipede from iron. These are usually the easier bugs to farm silk from.

best way to lvl foraging?

# weary bronze best way to lvl foraging?

It's boring, but just go around collecting everything you see in bahari and meanwhile cut and harvest large trees. It's best done in a small party of 2 or 3 when possible because chopping lots of trees = flow trees will spawn > good opportunity for extra xp, flow wood, and possibly muujin/bluujin hunting at the same time if you're feeling adventurous.

#

And always go after dari calls, and keep your eyes peeled for heatroot- also great xp for one time collections

i thought occasional rarer foragables and flowtreepartys are the only way for training foraging

Can you buy ingredients in bulk at Zeki's or do you have to click for each one?

mortal quartz
# weary bronze best way to lvl foraging?

If just starting out: pick everything, chop trees.

If you are farther along in the game: Flow trees give variable amounts of XP: if you damage them faster than they regenerate, then let them heal, they give more XP than if you straight chop them. They can build up to quite high numbers with some patience, and everyone who participates in the final chop gets the full XP amount.

(I like being the "flow tree fairy" and charging up wild small and medium flow trees I find in out-of-the-way places, then calling the server over to chop :) )
