it can be common at any level, especially if you have a hard time with an epic fish. if you mean during the minigame to reel it in. if you mean after it bites it runs away, it will return you just need to make sure you click to hook it when it returns.

nah its user skill issue as if you dont start reeling in soon enough the fish leave.
or if the rod health hits 0 you lose the fish.
getting better fishing rods give you better reeling in, more rod health

Maybe I am too slow or too fast hooking them. I just learned that if you are fishing for specific fish you can just not hook it and wait for another fish so you don't lose your bait

You auto loot the ones found out in the wilds. The ones you fish up have to be manually looted

you can, but it's a bit more clunky. if you leave the bobber in, the same fish will keep returning, but if you wait for it to leave, then re-cast, you will keep the bait at the cost of no exp and extra durability spent to roll for a new fish!

Another Sashimi-related thing (this applies to grilled fish and Sushi, too btw) is that: the more expensive your used fish is, the more worms you get from farm

so you spend durability casting, and then the fish will bite, then swim back down into the depths. once it does, you can click and then wont hook it but keep the bait

if you re-cast, it will spend more durability without the reward of fish/exp but the benefit of keeping a glow worm, if you are hunting a specific fish

I keep a stash of repair kits and use my home anvil. Others prefer to use gold to repair their gear. It's a thing you learn to deal with.

I wasn't paying attention the other day while I was clearcutting and broke my first exquisite tool ever.

I'm predominantly a solo player. I'm not generally a fan of forced socialization in games like this. But Palia makes it incredibly easy to join in, even for a stodgy hermit like myself. Just don't be afraid to let people know you're new - players a generally super patient in Palia.

First we cook whatever's needed for quests/gifts.
Then we cook some of the more efficient money makers with whoever has materials (Noodle stew, Tomato soup, Apple pie).
And usually finish off with making Stir Fry till we're all out of mats.
Earns a pretty penny (we usually cook with 4-5 people)

What Eleanor said, but it's also considered good form to at least offer if you have the ingredients. I'm generally a leafer, and we put in a lot of leg work to make parties happen. Batter people have to spend a good chunk of cash for their ingredients beforehand.

I think it is odd that once you reach a certain level most of your time is spent in the other zone. Hardly anyone around the starter zones. There is a cap of 25 people per zone but it seems like a huge area that goes to waste quickly

Fishing 25 you get a small party boost automatically or something. Faster mining/tree cutting. I agree wholeheartedly. The gardening perk makes the other skills feel a bit empty as a result.

Something I'm starting to think new players might need to be aware of, or at least gently reminded of: the cake parties, while super fun and great gold income, aren't the be-all/end-all. Masala is a great focus food. I get together with other fisherfolk sometimes to make buff foods. You may even find yourself overwhelmed jumping into a x50 cake party right away.

Try some local group cooking first. Get a few friends together and make a few cakes by yourselves. Then throw your own cake parties!

focus on one thing at a time whether that's a quest or skill building, then just make your way across the list of things to do. early game-wise, bugs and hunting are your best bet to make fast money. you'll need to get lvl2 on furniture making to get the loom for the leather and fabric to make a glider, so you'll also want to forage quite a bit of wood for that (to level up furniture making). the crops do sell for a bit, tho yeah id recommend bugs or hunting to help bring in cash flow

The normal worm farm is the first one you unlock, with the level progress you will unlock the glow worm farm. I plant tomatoes, spread fertilizer/water on them, farm them when they are ready and put them in the seed makers and worm farms, which give me normal worms and glow worms as well as quality up fertilizer and harvest boost fertilizer. I only now started adding the harvest boost one to the crops, but from 1 full cycle in the seed makers I make about 15k gold.

I had an issue where my char would freeze up and be unable to move after using a prep table. I could pivot and look around, but feet glued to floor and unable to do actions. The solution was to hit H (to pop up the house build grid), and then H again to go back to normal mode.

See, this is where it gets janky. I know there's an error at low level axe when chopping trees. However, a group of us had a purple tree in Chapaa Crossing the other day, and one of our party said he wasn't able to chop flow trees yet. We had already taken a few swings, so we said why not and he hit it - and damaged it. He also got the loot drop when we took it down.

I'm not saying it works that way because I can't say for sure what the other player had as an axe, but he said it was standard, and it was a big purple tree, and I saw him pick up the loot. I haven't been able to test myself without breaking my axe on purpose. So I guess take it with a grain of salt, and try it if you get the chance?

For what it's worth, I made my axe my first exquisite tool. Made sense to me, as everyone knows where the palium nodes are so finding a group usually isn't an issue, and fishing/hunting/bugs are just a means to get more gold. Purple wood, on the other hand, is super awesome to have a lot of.

there's a few options! level 3 with badruu will get you apple tree seeds, also level 10 so you unlock the gardening guild tokens you can buy the seeds with those as well. as for more niche ways, you can get the seeds via zeki's gacha but you can also do a neat little trick with requests. normally you wouldn't be able to request items you haven't obtained yet, but this is different for cooking. if you unlock pies, you can go to the apple pie, and click request on the apples. you can then request enough apples to have 10 and then use those with a seed maker to make an apple tree seed for an even earlier workaround to level 3 with badruu or level 10 gardening.

Depends, Take tomatoes for example, the starred tomato sells for 40-45 gold, but if you convert them to seeds, starred tomato seeds sell for 60 gold each. Each tomato makes 1 seed(?) so you're making more gold by turning them into seeds. But wheat or cotton lose value being turned into seeds so, I usually sell those IGNORE THIS. I am wrong 😂

Okay, a little bit of math (it's fine, I hate numbers too):

You have 2x Calico Koi, easily caught and you'll get lots of them. They're worth 23 gold each, unstarred. So what you do is take those two fish and grill them on your campfire. Because of how cooking works, the Grilled Fish you get will be worth at least 46 gold (the value of the two fish combined).

Here's the neat bit: unstarred fish can turn into a star quality Grilled Fish when you cook them, which increases the overall value. So you can actually make a profit off grilled fish - you would get a Grilled Fish valued at maybe 50 gold, or something like that.

Starred fish, unfortunately, are not worth doing this with, as you won't be able to get more than their original value.

so if you sprint then jump then aim and shoot, and before you land right click, the jump will give you distance, and the animation cancel will let you continue running. It takes practice but it's crazy fast

You can also dispel then go to slows or whatever. Some people were saying they just hit it with 3 slows. I think the slow removes the copies?

No problem. It is not max money, but it lets me get some of everything with focus on max harvest and quality. Also weed no weeds and no water on my fruit! I set up the seeds to match the number on my hotkeybar so it helps when planting.
