i got me a smal chair in a tree
wont get no tripod over there
prob the best plse i will get around here
eyy we just pased 8k msg on this thred
or forum or whatever it is caled
i can get the 200 to 500 for 750
maby negotiate to 700
is it then bether?
You should be able to get a good one for under 800
Dont buy the tamron
For almost the same price you get a much less sharp lens and worse build quality
Which one then
And slower
The 200-500 @pastel sentinel
Check ebay
Ik theres good ones for 700-750
The nikon 200-500 is a better lens overall
Hmm
Out of the tamrons, sigmas, and the nikon, the tamron is the worst overall
G1 and G2
But I kinda need reach for bird photogrfy
At 600 it wont be worth it
The g2 at 600 is softer than the 500 cropped in
This is 520mm(teleconverter) on full frame 16 megapixels and cropped in
The 24mp and 500mm on the d750 will be good enough
If you grab a d500, paired with the 200-500 is an awesome setup for birds
Hmm ok
@random prism what's a good EF telephoto for under 400$? Gonna switch to canon and see how it goes
Holy shit @pastel sentinel
DAMN
Yess
Nicee
Alr send me a pic of it when it arrives :))
Yess
If you can find it for under 400, the 70-300ii
4.5-5.6
Somehow out of stock
W
Thanks!
Real
Tape 🗿
The little plastic window thingy break?
Type shit
The g2 as well
Damn good lens
all for less than the price of a good dinner
sick, was it off fb marketplace?
Yoo D500 or Z7?
wanna trade my 75-300 to lower tthe cost
the ii is goated ngl, but wtf were they cooking up on the first z7's autofocus 😭
poo and shit
thats what
oh speaking of sidegrades, i think i'm gonna look for a D800 and replace the 700 with that
ooo
old high res 😍 theres hella for rly good prices
I might buy a d500 tmrw after my christmas paycheck
cookin @pastel sentinel
uncropped 🗣️
yeah but its gotta be a trade in, i'm not gonna try and sell the 700 on my lonesome cause then it won't actually go anywhere
best i could do locally but idk if they do trade in
ah
noo 😦
i'd look at d800e's too and see if thats possible too
only difference is no aa filter but usually same price
thats a good deal though
yeah but i've got bills to pay
and fwiw i could get it cheaper on mpb
350-400
which is what i'd want to pay locally
ah yeah makes sense
even moreso if that means i can get rid of the 700 in the same trip
i'll call 'em tomorrow and see what they say about trade
d500 on da way
Called them and they sent me a gear condition form to fill out
I'll probably get a first offer tomorrow ish
Yay
W
@glad juniper got a d500 waiting for me at home YUHHH

the customizability options look wonderful
being able to have like 3 dif buttons be able to switch to specific focus point mode when being held is gonna be hella convenient for me
maybe I should get uhs-ii cards later 💀 the cf express alone has no buffer until the forced ending, but w backup on a uhs I sd card its like 30 smth
The only reason why I wouldn't buy one is cause hopefully nikon makes a Z equiv prosumer apsc
valid
Like a z6 sized body with a slightly larger sensor
Like the a6700 26
That'd be basically perfect
a nikon equivalent of the r7 would be dope
It'd be perfect
yuhhh
first offer came in, i'd be looking at 250 bucks in trade in all told
so now the question becomes do i spend less for a "more used" body or more for a "less used" body
Kinda lowball
Ish
I take it back i didnt realize how low the d700 goes for
I mean 250 aint bad
i mean i paid 200 even for it lol
@quasi kettle took the d500 out for the first time
plus the grip at like, 45 or something
Valid
so i'm not that upset
I forgot how uncomfortable shooting like that w/o a vertical grip was
Need mine to arrive
woulda liked higher but 374 for a 35k shutter D800 is a serious deal
all these bits for 375
the cheaper ones come with a strap tho lol
which i clearly absolutely need
100%
definitely
and ofc thats also the first offer before they look at the gear so i might be able to get a bit higher
W that shutter count id grab it then buy a strap later tbh, the neck straps are pretty dang cheap
cookin up
almost was too close, didnt wanna back up and risk scaring bro
we need a photography channel fr
@misty steeple
Can't wait to go run it
And to think this whole setup costs less than the lens is selling for
i wanna buy one now 👀
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
@glad juniper ez money?
Nvm
Not even worth it
might be hard to find parts to repair that
idk how serious that is though 💀
The n80s are dirt cheap
And one of the last film cameras nikon made
Solid modern film cameras they are
yeah i've seen em hella cheap in good condition
yoo
long time no see
i am standing betwen the D500 and the Z7ii still
and i stil dont know what to chose
i like the 1.5 on the D500
but i also realy want ai bird tracking
all for wildlife photography btw
i kinda give up on the aviatoin photogrophy
and also the only reason i woud pick the D500 is the prize diferense
just a reminder the z7ii doesn't have bird eye autofocus so if you bought the z7ii I would use a dynamic spot mode
the z7ii is great but I wouldn't use the tracking for birds since it could easily put the focus point on a wing etc
I have yet to test the d500 for birds in flight
I think the z7ii would be a better long term investment though
oh it'd be a way better long term investment
fingers crossed a z8/z9ii come out soon ish
throw in the global shutter from red and call it a day
same stacked 45
problem solved
I kinda need bird in flight
If you look at my insta
(BOB_Photo7)
I got a sick Pic of a bird doing somtn
Z6III?
Is that good?
For what it does, yes it's great
What's a fear price for it used?
(Z6III)
yeah but thats an added 2 thousand dollars
it has amazing autofocus for birds but 24mp on full frame might not be enough for bif
depending on the lens and how close you are ofc
a z9ii followed by a z8ii with the same specs again would be generational
Bro that with a global 😍😍😍 Nikon would just win atp
And some better AF systems, then it’s just the best
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
@glad juniper would it even be worth it to buy this and a F to EF adapter
Oh lol
no
also never buy an adapter for different platforms, recipe for autofocus and iq problems
If you can save up another 200 bucks you can grab a good sigma 150-600 contemporary, which is not the best, but it is much better than both the g1 and g2
not me having a better shooting experience with the tamron g2 than either of the siggy 15-6s lmao
thousand dollar difference not including a z mount body
photographer not the gear moment
on paper the sigma should be better
although the sport version I've heard has sharpness issues
the 60-600 looks 😩 though, I hate the zoom rings on those lenses though
Plus u got that 36mp you can crop in
Mighta totally impulse bought myself another lens
Yeah I can, although I do see a difference between shooting the d7500 vs the 800 and cropping
Not sure which i prefer tho
D7500
awww file limits
fuckin
hold please

ok ok
D800 w/ crop
Yay
Yeah but that’s like 1.5 pay checks
And then an adapter
Fair
Peak camera
W
type shit
mhmm
gotta test out my new go pro tmrw 😈 got a hotshoe adapter for it to do pov stuff
I wanna get an insta 360 mini or something like that to do POV stuff at work
Rayban meta if they were cheaper and not ugly
Caged up lil bro
Now buying a cage for a GoPro actually makes sense
i wanna get something like a insta 360go for work
oo
pov stuffs
I got a decent deal on it through ebay
nice
new backpack 🗣️ I can finally fit both bodies in the actually padded area with room to spare
D4s and a 500 is a uh, interesting pairing 😂
I mean the 4s still does everything you need a pro body to do these days
Oh I’m aware, I’ve just personally never understood having two cameras, let alone two that are pretty different
If imma have two cameras they’re gonna be on par
They aren't that different tho, both are upper tier nikon, both are built for speed and performance and they're all f
It's one thing to do that I'm doing and have a D7500 and a D800
Since one is prosumer kinda sports oriented and the other is professional mostly and fine arts/resolution oriented
I suppose, I just don’t see why people wouldn’t just get one that does both lol
Only reason I would run 2 cameras is for different lenses at the same time, one with a 24-70, one with a 70-200, or whatever else needed
I guess, I just personally wouldn’t drop money on two kinda ok cameras when I could use the money to get one good one
Oh I agree with you, the D800 could definitely do sports but it's not designed to
And the jack of all trades cameras are either too expensive for the "average" consumer or the feature set is "does it all but the bare minimum of all"
Like the d3500 could do it all
But it's not designed to do anything specific
The z8/9s are designed for sports, the Z7, fine art, z6 hybrid video and z5 was kinda entry level
There's no "do it all" camera for z, just like there's no serious do it all option for f
Best you could do rn would be a D780 probably
Just the same reason why 24-400s exist but you'd buy a 24-70, 70-200 and 180-600
Why buy 3 lenses when 1 can do most of it
I’d argue the z9 and 8 are hybrids, you got everything you’d need for pretty much any type of photography whether that be sports, wildlife, or landscape. Sure the z9 isn’t “designed” for street photography, but it’s probably better at it than most other cameras. I mean what exactly makes a camera designed for sports not able to do landscapes, besides MPs, which even z7s have 45mp.
And the lens point doesn’t really make sense, the 24-400 is not an amazing lens lol, just cause it’s got the range it’s still pretty mid, plus the barrel extends so that’s just already a loss 😭
And I mean cmon, you’re comparing fixed 2.8 lenses to a variable lens that fucks you over at 85 6.3 ☠️
Well it does everything so why not get it?
Don't need 3 lenses to do the job of 1
Same logic as why buy 2 specialized cameras when 1 middle of the road body does it all
That’s completely different
Is it?
Yes
You’re getting worse quality etc just cause something is in the focal range.
Getting a camera that does the job of two cameras, but better is my point
I’d much rather have one d850 over for example a d4s and a d500, both could sell for just under a used 850 price
But your buying a camera that's objectively worse for sports and performance to replace two cameras that will outperform it
The 8x0 line is fine art
Resolution over speed
Yeah and people still rate the 850 as a fantastic sports camera lmao
Plus with dslrs you’re losing what 4 fps? That’s really not that much
That's a lot, you've got it good over in mirrorless land lol
lol I switch around fps a lot so I know it’s a noticeable difference but I just don’t get why people get two different cameras
Like you mentioned one for landscape and fine arts, one for sports, I just don’t get why you’d spend money on two separate cameras when you can usually find one that does both jobs, and is generally better cause it’ll be newer
I mean I’d rather just get a a7iii or sm like that rather than have two cameras lol
Even a7iv are fairly cheap on the used market now
The solution isn't always "fuck it, buy a flagship" lol
Even tho I'd like it to be
It's just not reasonable for everyone
That’s not my point, my point is you’re spending money on two cameras when you could use that money to buy one good one
I spent 200 bucks on my d800, what better body could I buy for that
And the 7500 was bought new in 2019
So what, 1200 bucks could get me a well loved z7 or z6?
I mean an a7iii used is not a lot, and it’s a great camera, you’re with a good company, and you can easily progress from there, with getting two ‘ok’ dslrs, how does one progress 5 years down the line when they want mirrorless but feel forced to stay with what they have cause they’d have to switch lenses
And I'd still be out the cost of an ftz
Well yeah but how much have you spent on every little trinket lens you’ve bought lol
Also don't use the 7iii as an example, those have shutter splody issues
So sell all the glass and start over?
And fwiw i have sold a lot of my glass
Im just saying you seem to always be buying a new vintage lens for like $20-50 and that adds up fast lol
I'm down to 3 "main" lenses for f, plus a portrait and a 50mm
Sold my macro glass, sold my stupid ultrawide, sold my short telephoto
The cost to upgrade to z far outweighed the cost to get an old fx camera and a prosumer dx body
And if buying a camera to do it all is the goal, I'm still nowhere near being able to afford a z8, let alone a 7ii or 6iii
And what i could afford i wouldn't buy, a z50, upgraded tho it may be, would be a side grade at best
And a downgrade for most things
Nah and I totally understand that, I’m just saying having two cameras seems almost pointless, a d7500 is pretty good I personally don’t see why you’d need a d800
And the switch to z is aids I know
Well for one, I get to actually use my fx glass at their labeled focal length lol
I also get improved low light perf, improved high iso, more resolution for stills, better battery life and marginally better ergo
I had a d700 for a while but while 12mp was enough, 12mp and trying to go spotting wasn't
So sold it as trade in for the 800
Fair enough
Ngl the ergo part alone is enough ☠️
The 3xxx line Nikons suck to hold
Well yeah, it's sensor, ovf, mount and that's it lmao
Oh and non cpu lenses
That is so incredibly nice
Doesn't make sense that nikon pulled non cpu controls from their prosumer line, the d2/300 had it, the D7/100 had it but the 72/500s don't
Stupid as shit
😂😂
I shoot sports professionally and need to have two different focal ranges at the same time, plus I cant afford something like a d5, z9, or z8 rn
This combo is making me money so no complaints
D4s is a beast
i am thinking of the z9 end of summer maybe
Say I had a z9 and a 300 or 400 prime on it for field sports, if I dont have a second camera with a 70-200 or something like that i cant do anything once they get close
With the d500 obviously the 70-200 is slightly more but thats fine yk
Retired flagships

Shit id take a d3s anyday
Ye
They are going down in value for sure
But its not doing anything my d4s wont do for sports so
Maybe better low light though
i'd rather save up for a z9
IT LOOKS SO GOOD
Yeah that’s the only reason I’d assume you’d need two until maus said he had one for fine arts and one for sports that just threw me for a loop lol
I’ve been thinking of a second camera too just to have the second lens, but I just need to get officiated with my college first, still in the talks with them about their sports programs
Already got a job offer with the aerospace college, just need sports now ☠️
Which is obviously where the money comes from
nice nice
yuhhhhh
Lacrosse go crazy
@glad juniper bought a 17-55 2.8 for the d500 for 157 cuz the filter ring is broken lol
As long as thats the only thing broken crazy deal
definitely one of the lenses of all time lol
kinda want one but also i don't need one but i want one
Yeah agreed
I was thinking of bidding on 24-70s but the d500 would be my wide-mid range body for a while so felt like the better option
Esp if i get another ff body a 24-70 wont touch the ff for sports for a while
Hopefully nothing wrong w it outside of the filter ring cuz crazy deal
If its dirty inside i have the tools to clean it too
It sorta looked like the zoom ring was getting loose but thats like only a 20 dollar replacement
Thats not bad
Just be aware those apo lenses are pretty slow, but thats a good deal
Dw about the shutter count
60k is nothing
Might pick it up as a second cam
by the way, is it ok if i put a lens with fungus in the same bag as my other lenses? it won't spread right?
I wouldnt
Fungus is the one thing that will actually spread
You should get it cleaned or get tool to clean it
(It spreads really slowly and a 15 minute trip in a camera bag every week won't cause any harm over the course of ~30 years)
what do I need to clean it?
Depends on the lens and what elements it's on or between
You can do it yourself if you buy a lens wrench and some glass removal tools
But that requires you to take the optical blocks out and probably the focus mech as well
Which means you have to recalibrate infinity when your done
Zooms suck to take apart. Primes don't
If you want you can just leave your lens in the sun for a few weeks and that will kill most of the fungus
It won't clean the fungus that's already there but it'll help kill what's living
depends where the fungus is
if it's in the front element you dont need to do that, you wont be anywhere near the focus mech
what lens is it @teal basalt
The 120-400.
ah
did u buy it yet?
cuz if u haven't I wouldn't then
the lens isn't good enough to bother with the fungus, if you do buy it btw the fungus will show up in images if not cleaned
(No it won't)
sorry I mean't it'll impact the iq
but i mean
idk if that lens is worth worrying ab fungus
If it was a 120-300 2.8 I'd still get it
ok thats completely different lmao
120-300 is thousands more and a professional lens 💀
Although for 300 bucks it's not a bad deal
apo 120-400 is quite the opposite
Plus you get a 70d with it
lowkey sell the 120-400 afterwards
Or buy it and shoot it and don't really care about the fungus since you probably won't really notice a difference
It'll impact the iq the same way a uv filter will impact your iq
I do and I can't notice a different
😭
But yeah it really does depend on how bad the fungus is
Waiting for a response from my photo manager but might be able to attend something that would lead to me renting a 400 2.8 and probably a d5 as well
mmmm a d5
lmk how that "small" mp sensor goes
i'm still seriously considering a D5 as an upgrade later
shit i mean the d4s and it's seemingly tiny 16mp has done everything I've asked for when it comes to resolution/cropping/low light
the 20 on the d5 is surely enough, I mean for sports I have a restriction on what I'm supposed to crop for before publishing and when I'm cropping the d500 pictures it seems like a lot more room
that 4mp is honestly way bigger than it seems
I'd go for it honestly
tons of pros still rock it, rly good example of old doesn't mean bad
I'm thinking of maybe getting one after a mirrorless upgrade as a 3rd ff body
wish my d4s had better customizability though like the d5 😭
cause like on the one hand, i don't want to gimp myself out of z by getting a new dslr
thats true
780 price lower when
soon tm
plus the dual cf D5s are about the same ish price as a d850
ye
fr
dual cf honestly doesnt sound bad
the buffer is more than enough and xqd is stupid expensive
mhmm
xqd prices are hella stupid though
basically the same build quality as a cfexpress type b card, same contacts, discontinued, slower, but more expensive
🗣️ 🔥
but the issue with the d850/z7ii is i really don't actually need the mp
only company that still sells them new is sony lol
it'd be nice sure but i don't need it
nah nah see
what u dont need is what u must buy 😈
u cant get away from gas

god its such a nice camera
the only issue(s) i've got with the d800 is the read/write speeds, the fps and the buffer depth
eh kinda

is it handheld 😭
yeah its still conceptual
ah
i don't have the means to make it work
lowkey if u could've got that upper left corner to have trails that'd be hella cool
since i don't have a gimbal i can't rotate the camera around the axis of the lens on a tripod
Gore I think

The lad sent me a few photos he took with it, couldn't really see any signs of fungus unless he sorted it when editing
It’ll be hard to actually see the fungus if it isnt that bad
Just be aware that overtime depending on how bad it is things like contrast and sharpness will eventually slowly degrade
Ask him for a picture of the front element
i've shot glass with fungus in it and it was fine
slightly less contrast but thats a non issue
and the sharpness was horrible but thats more due to the fact that the lens wasn't that great to begin with lmao
@glad juniper 17-55 arrived, everything is working as intended, part of the filter ring is broken(i dont use filters) but the cap and hood are secure, zoom ring is a bit harder to turn midrange, lowkey crazy deal for under 200
Massive W
Only complaint I have is that the zoom ring is wayyy too close to the body for how small it is😭, especially w the battery grip on
Yay glad it works as advertised
mpb is always a W
yeah most dx lenses are like that tho no?
lowkey u prolly right
Hello guys I need help choosing wich camera to move to im currently using a Nikon D5600 and according to ChatGPT and other photographers they would consider me going to a new camera such as z6ii or d850 But I help I’m only 14 and I don’t make much a hour and work odd jobs in the winter and I make about 14 a hour in the summer I need your opinion on what I should save for and places I could work that pay well
alright let's start here, whats your budget?
Just gonna say this now, the d5600 is a solid camera
(Invest in lenses first)
Probably like 2k
I already have my main lens sigma 150-600 unless you think there is a better option
Better is relative
What do you mean by this?
Doesn’t matter, the 150-600 is a good lens
So you have 2k for a body?
Better in the sense that you could get like, a 24-70 and a 70-200 which would be "better" optically but worse for your use case
chatgpt giving you a massive jump 😭
le golden duo
Yeah I’d lowkey just buy a 70-200 2.8E FL with that imo, it’s a beautiful lens, I still have it adapted to my z8
Since according to a lot of articles and blogs it’s not all that much worse than the Z mound 70-200
Yeah that's what i mean better being relative
You can get significantly better lenses but if you don't need a 70-200 or a 24-70 or an 85 1.4 or whatever then it's a worse choice
Yeah idk what it’s on about
I love me vr ii but the fl looks sweet
85 1.8g >>
Sharp boi
What do yall think on 24-70 f2.8 by sigma
For car photography and close up of planes
It’s amazing
Idk much about it tbh
Lemme find some photos with it I’ve got, it’s quite a sharp lens
except the annoying vr sound it has
if u can get close enough for a 24-70 then just go for 15-30 or 16-35
to get the full wingspan
cars though 24-70 is a weapon
but since ur on a crop sensor look at the dx 17-55
35mm 1.8 on dx and the dc sigma 30mm 1.4 btw for cars
the sigma has a ton of chromatic but fixable but I used to use it a bit for some cars stuff since its a native aps-c lens
back in the d5600 days 🗣️
May i also rec the 24-120 /4
Stop slower but 50mm longer
Not as sharp wide open as a 24-70 but it's been a wonderful lens to edc
forgot ab that lens

the z version def overshadowed
And at portrait distances the telephoto compression more than solves the "less bokeh" issue at 4 vs 2.8
I can’t even send photos cause the max mb
The 24-120 is also reasonable compact
Just make sure you get the /4 version, the red vr one is violently mid
Try KEH as well
Imo if your buying a dslr lens, there's no reason to buy it used any more
The used market is so saturated these days since everyone and their dog migrated to mirrorless
I guess I’m still in the Stone Age then
dont buy that or the 28-70
thats also the old retail price
they go for 300-500 these days but have a history of failing autofocus motors, and they aren't serviced anymore so just be aware
If you want a uw zoom, get the 12-24 2.8g
20-35 2.8 is also a good option but you'll be down to manual focus
i have heard that extreme wide angle lens can distort the car and plane up close is this true
fisheyes will, yes
the wide part of a 15-30, 14-24, 12-20, etc will too
but thats what makes the image cool @inner fractal
speaking of fisheyes that 16mm d series catching my eye
the different between that and a fisheye is the fisheye will result in a circular image or at least a much more distorted image
not just distortion
maybe i will buy a sigma 10 20 mm
the dx tokina 11-16 is pretty good
2.8 even
so whats like the best wide angle f2.8 lens f mount
tamron 15-30 f/2.8 g1 or g2
or 14-24 2.8g
but its full frame and you're on a crop sensor so it'll defeat the purpose
15-30 is sharper but loses the 14
but u get that extra 6mm
16-35 /4
and it also has vc and the 14-24 doesnt have vr which can be good for stuff with a speedlight
there's a ton of fx uw zooms
might get if I grab a z series honestly just cuz the g1 can't ftz adapt
at least its not supposed to be able to

the 15 30 is nice
ok
whats the thoghts on a d810
it will be my first full frame so im not sure how they perform compared to a crop
the 810 is great
800 is great
700 is great
basically all of the nikon fx bodies are good
just don't get a D600
i've got an 800 rn
z6ii is what i relly want but from a d5600 thats a huge jump
and i would need a z to f adapter
first time getting my gear wet
did not plan for it since it was supposed to be sunny 😭
d4s and the older 300mm unfazed by the water
Looks like he has throwing at you
mmm
Opinions on a Sony A6400?
old but serviceable
nothin wrong with it other than its currently a touch overpriced and you either have to spend a lot on lenses or be stuck with the sony e kit glass
which isn't that hot
@stable stone whats your budget
i was looking at like 400 cad for the body
the 7500 isnt really possible to get in that much
whats that in freedumb bux
those cost 800+ cad
i'm rounding up
just for the sake of looking lol
yeah
we could probably go higher though i need to save some money for 3d printer attachment
fx or dx
the 7200 is 300 cad+
full frame or dslr?
full frame or apsc
oh right i forgot fx dslrs exist
lets just do apsc
i dont want to go to mirrorless yet
or those 750s
i was thinking D610
500 750 etc arent those fx
or D700
i like using that full frame equivalent thing when buying lenses
ive literally only bought one lens over my time of using this camera since like 2017
but recently i started looking more into it
how good is the d610 autofocus speed
assuming i use an afd lens for it
the D700 was pretty fast and thats older
i also intend to do low light photography with these
is the 610 better than the 700?
i heard from someone with i think an 850 that its af speed isnt good for planespoting
which is a lie, yes
oh wow the 610 is cheaper than the 7500 used
yep
are these Dxxx cameras all full frame?
most of them
the D6X0, D7X0 and D8X0 are full frame
the D200/300/500 are apsc
but functionally pro apsc
the first 2 DX cams are apsc
can i use afd lenses on full frame cameras?
D3-6 are full frame
af-d came about before digital cameras lol
yes it'll work
they are
i see
what lenses would you recommend
i was thinking a 70-200mm 2.8, and some other versatile lens
i already have a 50mm f/1.8
legendary
zamn'
using that stock 55-300mm nikkor (i borrowed one thats in good condition for my trip) i got some nice shots
theres a bit of editing
unedited
@glad juniper the what other cameras would you recommend
d1 was probably the first dslr they made right
whats up with the d600 though?
bad shutter
it can go 💥 ?
nah it throws the lube oil onto the sensor
and you have to basically clean it every few months
and the issue with the D1 is that you can't actually find the battery anymore
and its hard to keep running
the D2 has a more "modern" battery
what dx camera would you recommend
all of them but the D600 really
lol
the 750 is good, the 780 is great
810 is pretty good, the 850 is great
700 is fine but only 12mp
and the 800 is fine but the buffer isn't built for action
the d3/4 are also solid pics if a bit expensive
ivan88 runs a d4
its never been more joever for my wallet lmao
i saw
RESIST THE URGE
gas gas gas
its called "i'm waiting for the spring sale next year to get it at 200 bucks off"
like
there's nothing in the enthusist mirrorless market rn that could match that for 1500
the r8 only wins on msrp
reee
god and that expeed
z8/9 af perf
but not in a gimped zf body or in the z50ii
and its got a touch of the 6iii video specs so its not gonna suck if i want to shoot video on it
10 bit n raw at 4k 30 full width?
yes please
see i only look at the prices direct from nikon lmao
man what i would do with like a million bucks
makes it less tempting somehow
also yay we get the 3000 nits evf
can't wait to go blind
ngl i'm kinda tempted to sell all my shit and start fresh

i'm not that stupid but i've probably got about 1200 bucks of gear lying about that i could sell and be well on my way to a 5ii
Wew
@glad juniper will be renting a d5 and the 400 2.8 fl for saturday 🥳
Photographing 3 high school baseball games at an mlb stadium
Alr changed my mind ima save some money and go just z9 and use the cropping power
Based
alternatively
have you considered way too much money for native
yeah nah
the point was to save money 😭
why does that lens look so good though
i alr have a 300 2.8 no need for the 120
i'ma be rolling z9 with the 300 and a 1.4 and 70-200 on the d4s yk
if i ever get a 400 to own prolly like late winter i'm prob gonna get the fl version just cause of price
wher 500 pf 😎
and the 200-400 is worse in everything compared my 300
🙏
less if you want to play the ebay game
i am still considering grabbing a 300 pf when they get cheap and running around with a real cheap wildlife kit
ooo
1.4x tc and call it a day

its pretty tempting ngl
but i don't shoot enough wildlife to justify the cost
and plus if i ever actually pull the trigger on a 200-500 i'll be set
ye
and in other news i've all but committed to the z5ii as my jump to z
Nah
Shame
Fuck thats good
Got like 100 of those
Much better than trying it during day games, the lights make it cool
glad I didn't rent anything, would've been a waste 😂 300 + 1.4 got it done
There's a 300 2.8 for sale locally for a good price
Busted VR but otherwise functional
Kinda want ngl
500 bucks obo
hmmm
i'd say just turn off the vr, I dont rly use it anyways and you prolly won't pan with a heavy lens like that
only concern I have is when he says af is somewhat loud cause mine is really quiet
but if theres no problems w the glass and the af speed I'd say go for it
awesome lens
it produces amazing images
:with a teleconverter
The issue is that I don't have 500 bucks sitting around
Tho it's very tempting, tax returns pending
And I'm getting an increase in hours over the next year or so
😭
Maybe if it's still for sale in 2-3 months I'll consider
i mean its kind of a lens you should only consider if you really need it
r u planning on doing any kind of sports/action or wildlife?
what body did you pair it up with
D7500
Ah
That is a sick angle
Shutter bug is always rude to me
Whats the dev costs like
u gonna be in oreogon soon
Depends on how soon soon is
I'm planning on moving back to Oregon next summer
But not back to the east side, we're heading to corvallis
So I'm scouting out film shops a year in advance
oh fun
i mean theres always PDX stuff
lowk depending on how things go in the coming years i maybe in corvallis or eug
medford just not it tbh
I'll definitely be doing mfr for tanker work
Eug for ducks charters probably?
And pdx for etc etc etc
good luck spotting EUG 😓
beavs also fly out of EUG
spots in MFR
and mayeb eug?
whoa people have added to the list too
Not me about to throw 4-5 spots down for lgd lol
lmao
I can also do BKE and BOI
Boi is such a shit airport to spot at lmao
At least short term
If you stay there for like 3 weeks something interesting flies in
if you come lmk fr
the boeing 727 sitting at abbotsford airport was bought out by somebody and its actually going to be flown out of there
restoration of it will begin when possible and the hunt for 727 pilots is currently on
I gotta do yvr too
i lied, i'm still on the fence
cause evf lag and battery life etc etc etc
alternatives rn are D5 or way splurge for a D6
a 6 is still like 3-4k tho
and for that price i'm getting a z8 lmao
but the 5 would borderline outperform the z5ii in most catagories except for stupid high iso and mp count
nahh dont get a d6
most not worth it camera out there 😭
you can pretty much get a used z9 or refurbished z8/used z8 for it's used price
and something like a d6 you should only invest in if you make it your living yk
15-30 g1 in the big 25
*new
Not that it's a serious option but it's technically an option
I've been writing pros and cons for the past few days lmao
💀
Ig but yeah I think a d6 would be a waste of money outside of making it a profession, you can do so much more with a z8 or z9 for cheaper or the same price
Not rly a good reason considering the price to get a d6 over a d5 unless you really need the wifi capabilities, which you don’t need unless you need to be transmitting on the go
yeah thats true

although the d5 is a serious option rn
D6 is rly just a faster d5 with good wifi
Ig the af is “better”
The customizable zones is cool but then just get a z8 for that price yk
yeah
like i honestly can't justify the 5ii when the d5 is right there but also why d5 when 5ii is right there lmao
Myself I have plans for a z9 this summer and then a d5 type of camera end of winter but I’m trying to get into shooting pro sports so ye
see you can justify it lmao
😂
How much is the z5ii gonna go for
1700 new
yeah exactly
I mean you can get a d5 for cheaper I think right
the dr is a touch limited but thats fine
14-1600 for dual CF, dual xqd for 17-19 ish
Ah
and i wouldn't have to deal with an adapter
Idk 😭
I saw the evf lag in a video tho
Would drive me nuts
Dslr blackout>>skipping frames
i'll probably see if i can rent a 5ii and an adapter and fuck around with it for a few days
