I destroyed the artillery but the mission objective remains unfulfilled. I keep going back and forth between the 3 possible locations and nothing happens.
EDIT: Loaded an older save, called off map support on the correct position and this time when I got close enough to see that it was indeed destroyed, I got the message that it's fake artillery and that I should look elsewhere. This mission is not playable.

Hey there, sorry to hear the mission does not work as it should be - does it happen even if you start the battle from scratch? Like without loading in battle save

I tried it again and it's definitely a battle save problem, which makes sense as I've seen all kind of issues with them. From being unable to issue orders after loading the save, to missing effects of the gun firing.
