Yes, I'm considering this a bug π If I have a stack of seeds in my inventory and I plant them all, it shouldn't select the seeds to the left. Those are the before seeds, it should only plant the after seeds. As it is I either have to be very careful to plant things one at a time and then wait for any lag to catch up and update all the number and sprites(not fun), or I have to put a chicken in the way so that it blocks the previous seeds from getting planted (not fun for the chicken). I have accidentally planted things that weren't meant to be planted so many times and I demand restitution. Thank you, I expect this bug to be fixed by the morning.
#Auto select crops to the left
137 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
If you put your seeds higher up in your inventory bag instead of at the end/at the bottom it doesn't auto select the one to the left.
If you have the seeds at the very end/very bottom of your inventory bag and you plant the whole stack that's in the last item slot (for example, slot 100/item 100), it defaults to putting the next item in your hand, and since there are no other items to the right it makes sense for it to grab the next closest item (aka item slot 99 in this example).
Alternatively you can also place the chicken or even a tool or something else that's NOT a seed at the end of your inventory bag, thus preventing you from auto selecting another seed once the stack your planting is gone.
But yeah, you definitely don't need to put the pet in between seeds like in your photo if you don't have them as the last item in your item bag like mentioned above !
OH also! I almost forgot, you can lock your seeds now ~so you can just lock the ones you don't want to plant and unlock em once you actually want to (:
In my opinion though I don't view this as a bug so much as an intended feature π but obviously if a dev says otherwise then hopefully they'll patch it !
If I get seeds, they default to the end of my bag. I don't want to move them around, especially since my organization has pets first and seeds second!
It makes sense to default to the next item, but imo have an inconsistent rule is confusing ie "it selects the next seed unless it's the last seed and then it selects the previous seed". It just means I keep accidentally planting things because I haven't properly segregated my bag after getting a new seed.
I buy a clover, I plant a clover, I plant a bamboo, I get sad :(
Especially if I buy multiple things! I keep accidentally putting rare eggs in my clover patch by accident and then I can't even do anything but wait until it hatches!
Locking is actually not a bad idea, I'll do that for the things I only plant occasionally like my daily bamboo.
I still think it's strange behavior and my brain doesn't like it!
You can also lock them if you don't want to move em! (:
Sorry, I hit enter too soon π
no worries XD (side note, I wish discord would show the little "x is typing" message when editing a message too π )
but yeah, I getcha though! Especially with the egg example.. like, if there was a way to pick em back up even that would be okay, but there isn't QQ
You've sparked an idea for a suggestion actually ! ~hopefully my forum post makes sense to the devs π

I wish that too, but alas my fingers are to be unseen.
It's just annoying having my clover field be filled with eggs and bamboo because of the way I sort my inventory. I've got to change the way I garden to make it work!
Thanks for your efforts to keep my garden bug free, I appreciate you π
I have another issue with this. I buy some clover seeds and I harvest a bunch of clovers to make room. I go to sell the clovers and for some reason it auto selects the clover seeds (the last thing in my inventory before I started harvesting) so when I go to pluck some more clovers (by spamming the space bar, as I am known to do) wastes a bunch of my precious clover seeds. If I'm supposed to get 12/12 four leaf clovers, I can't be wasting all my seeds because the game decided to try and be smart
In support of this, I'm going to add a comment every time this happens and annoys me
I just wasted a bunch of clover seeds because, even though I had nothing selected, when I went to harvest my clover it picked one and then auto selected the seeds to plant a single clover. 3 seeds wasted
Just finished spamming the space bar to harvest a vclover patch and accidentally placed an egg
@outer widget @cerulean river thanks for the input here. what if we just made it so the game never auto-selects the next thing in your inventory if your current item is used up...?
Yes. XD
That would also be acceptable imo!
im trying to think of any good reason we should not just do that
I like that
I accidentally placed my myth eggs that way before
As someone who has been using mobile a lot more recently I will say that I do rely on the auto selection of the next item as the inventory is kind of a pain to scroll through, especially when items seem to load in so slowly and because the action of scrolling down itself is a little janky/sputtery π
But not having anything selected would solve a majority of other humans complaints and I'm sure one day the scroll on mobile will become smoother so yeah π needless to say, I'm still an advocate for doing that abd leaving our hands empty after an item stack is used up !
better scroll on mobile is actually almost ready
it got uhhh... complicated....
.......
These are the good good things the magic garden players yearn hear

Oooo woah o:
i am very interested in the point about autos-elect being useful on mobile
Complicated seems like an understatement, but definitely seems as though y'all are making sure to cover all your bases !
Exciting though ! I can't wait for the smoother scrolling experience to drop
are there specific situations where auto-selecting the next item is particularly helpful?
like autoselecting one seed into another? or a seed into a tool?
Right before or during lunar events it makes it much easier and faster to swap out any crops that I'm potting/planting !
That's no. 1 for me anyways π
oh that's interesting, perhaps we could make it so it auto-selects potted plant -> potted plant
Could it possibly be a toggle in the settings to auto select next item or not ?
we could always add a toggle but i'd love to make it 'Just work" if we can find a way
Ooh ! Yes ! That would work too!
planting a potted plant is also quite a bit less destructive than e.g. planting a seed i'd imagine since you can just pot it again
Agreed ! Aside from decor items being auto selected as well, I can't really think of any other scenarios where I've actively wanted something to be auto selected/in my hand once a stack is used up
So decor and potted plants, that's my final verdict π
cool - i can look into that!
Please please please please
Oh you asked for opinions half an hour ago
Iβm late
Forgive the ping
no its good i apprecaite it!
I'm okay with it auto selecting the next thing, but auto selecting the previous thing is confusing. And at this point it feels like it just selects something in my bag at random π«£
That flowchart doesn't make any sense, where do I pick whether I'm an autumn or a winter aesthetic?
I would prefer this tbhβ¦it prevents any unwanted/unexpected activities. ESPECIALLY if scroll improves on mobile
i cracked up ngl
no connection to scrolling on mobile. that's gonna get better separately, it's basically done i might ship it tongiht actually
No I meant
I wonβt mind no auto select and I especially wonβt miss it once scrolling is faster
ahhhh i gotcha
Auto select never goes the way I want it to go
Why canβt you just make it so that the game can just read my mind
I think the best case for auto selecting seeds is when my worm puts in a fill day at the cluttering my inventory factory and I need to get rid of all of them real quicklike. But since using Aries Mod with seed deleter that's less of need. Other than that, it's just "plant all the bamboo I have and after that start planting cactus to fill out the rest of the field. Maybe useful on mobile, but I avoid large planting sessions on mobile anyway so an extra click isn't the end of the world
Letβs see your flowchart for THAT
does your worm not put them into your seed silo directly?
I've found it annoying that I can't pot multiple things in a row without reselecting the pot π€
When I buy existing silo-positioned seeds manually, they go into my inventory. Is that how itβs supposed to behave?
Typically, I like my systems to be as predictable as possible. Just like the driver's license exam said "the biggest cause of accidents is being unpredictable"
Good! Making you laugh is like 80% of the reason I'm here
My seed silo π₯²
Iβm obsessed with this show and quote this in my daily life with regularity
I'm annoyed that the gif is so low quality, but it gets the point across
The audacity of avi to just assume every player is a magic garden multitrillionaire
Literally just today I managed to hit 50B after 6 months of playing
i think only seedfinders go into the silo is how it's meant to work
Wish I could read it. I bet itβs a funny quote
to be fair most of y'all are in this discord apparenty lol
me with my 8B being the poorest person by 100x
Iβm poor
And you'd better believe your sweet biddies I'm saving every single penny for a moon binder before I buy that reprehensible worm a new toy
I'm the 99% of the 1% π₯²
Ugh I hate threads π
Pretend that embedded
Omg I didnβt know seedfinders put them into the silo. Do they create extra dimensional space in the silos like they do your inventory?
@dense axle doesn't invite me to his yacht parties because I don't have a yacht that fits on his yacht, I just have a stupid BIG BOAT π«
extra dimensional space?
When your inventory is full, if you donβt have strawberry seeds already your worm will still somehow find a way to give you strawberry seeds even though you would not be able to buy them
My worm for 6 hours a day
sounds like a bug
101.. 102.. 103.. 104..
seed finders really love pushing limits eh
I thought this was a feature
Me too weβve talked about it before π
a less than ideal feature... but still a feature lol
It's called giving 110%, my PE teacher used to tell me I had to do that when I didn't want to run the mile
A ladybug
Having a situation with Clovers.
Clovers have what, 15?
EX: I'm picking #2 and it just changed to #3 unprompted which caused me to pluck it.
Thats so tilting, it happened again - i was picking a clover and it just swapped mid pick, thats two four leaf clovers i've pulled out of this one spot because of this
Also while we're on the topic of buttons π
When i am trying to pot something, i have to click it every time. doesnt appy the same for all the other tools.
why its an Issue - having to reclick can accidently then lock the pot, and accidently harvest.
Cries in donuts
It just selects random things I swear π
TWICE MAN, DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WORK THAT WAS TO GET 3 FOUR CLOVERS?! AND EXPENSIVE LOL

I demand restitution. Give me three dawn binders for the emotional suffering. Thanks @mellow fossil
give me better RNG so i dont have to hatch 3k eggs to get a crop eater while i only have two more mutations to unlock until these clovers got added
OMG i was trying to speed grow my plants and it JUMPED to a rainbow clover while i was holding down my mouse to speed the growth w/ donuts
it did it again and i picked it
internally screaming
just wanna say i'm officially working on this
i just wanna say thank you, youre goated
I have a reason βοΈ idk how maybe other ppl do this, but I have a pony out regularly that gets me seeds. I plant all of the single harvest ones multiple times a day. I order my seeds in the order I want to plant them, sell my fields, then just replant til I'm out of space. Usually 6 or 7 different seeds. I take advantage of the right-ward auto-select for that multiple times a day, it's the left-ward one that is new and I don't like TwT
Yh right was ok. Left is a whole new thing
just out of curisoity... why? because right = more recent?
The arrangement for right made sense usually in placements and also yh more recent. Like every egg I have is right to my myth egg. Iβm more team, doesnβt auto select at all but if it has to Iβd rather it be from the right
Iβm like half asleep typing this so I hope it makes sense
It's a simple explanation, but I think because I'm a native English speaker so most things move from left to right in my brain. If I have a list of things, I can see them going left to right. If it suddenly starts moving right to left I get confused. You've created Japanese manga.
ahhh guess which egg got auto selected
... the white one
I look chill but I'm crashing out fr
I genuinely don't know how this happened, the apple seeds were nowhere near the end of my inventory
if its next to the last thing you used
it also gets auto-selected
safest is to lock things you dont want to use anytime soon
I feel like needing to go into my inventory and one by one unlocking every single see I want to plant is worse than just needing to select the seed every time you wanted to plant it
At least that way you don't need to lock every time you buy a new egg or seed
THis is starting to get rediculous
right clicking an item locks it instantly btw, without having to open the card. just in case you dont know
and you can also select the items in the quick access bar with numbers
these keybinds are very helpful, but ive always felt theyre not obvious to users
i haven't forgotten about this thread btw
I did know, but it doesn't solve my real problem of "seed finder and buying random junk clutters my inventory and it's a chore to have to lock every single thing that enters my inventory so I don't accidentally put the legendary eggs with the bamboo"
Better not >:(((
Would it be possible to add a "lock all/unlock allβ button somewhere into he inventory UI ? Or is that kind of complicated ?
Either way, just a thought π
would that set the "lock" option for every item you had...? like the π
yeah ! (:
hmm, what would be the usecase?
I would be terrified to accidentally unlock my lucky rainbow banana and not notice until after I sold it π±
I think it'd help out a lot regarding the issue in this thread as an example. But also as another example I'd say it's help more-so in general for players who are about to sell any pets that way they don't accidently miss locking the ones they care about.
In my opinion, it's one thing to have to unlock the stuff you want to use, it's another to have to both initially lock it and then have to unlock it when you're ready to use it. (Especially if you're on a mobile device or tablet since locking and unlocking is a pain on those devices)
Additionally, having a "lock all/unlock allβ button that only applies to the items you're sorted by/viewing would make it easier to target just one category of items at a time too.
ex. sort by pets β press "lock all" button β all pets regardless of current locked state become locked
and then the same button could also be used to "unlock all" if clicked a second time kind of thing
Hopefully that makes sense π
Obviously I don't know much about the inner-workings of the game so I don't know how complicated it would be to add a feature like that, but I definitely feel as though it would be a well received feature if added
you lock things?
jkjk
naweh I get that though, but definitely if there was a way to sort by category and then do the lock/unlock thing that would be better imo, but there's always gonna be pros and cons to features like what I mentioned just purely due to many individuals playstyles QQ
