I am able to manually place my pet in other gardens than my own.
All you need is less than 3 active pets in your garden, then to move to another garden, select your pet from your inventory, and you are granted the option of placing them as if it were your own garden.

I beg of you to not fix this bug and instead implore you to update it to feature-status.
