by "put skyclient in your mods folder" do you mean installing it or downloading the universal jar and putting it there

i think i just downloaded the jar off github and then dragged it there

remove the jar

and run it with java

Try right clicking the file and press open, it should run and then you should see a screen that corresponds with it.
