Skytils, for whatever reason, causes a decent amount of lag whenever I open any Skyblock GUI - FPS goes from frame locked on 165 to permanently under 100 with 1% lows in the 20s. Took Skytils out of my mod folder and launched, and my FPS stays at a completely consistent 165 in all GUIs. Hoping there's some fix to it causing so much lag in Skyblock GUIs?

#

Also not too sure why - but if I open a GUI whilst staring at pretty much no entities, the lag is considerably better than when I look at many entities and then open a GUI. I have no idea why that happens, since I experience no entity lag when having them all rendered without any GUI open

@inland berry seems like it's throwing an error can you send a latestlog

Windows: Hit Windows Key + R and type in %appdata%. Open the .minecraft folder.
Mac: On the bar at the top of your screen in Finder, click Go, then click Go to Folder and type ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft, then hit enter.
Linux: .minecraft is located in your home folder. ~/.minecraft

Open your Minecraft folder and send the file called latest or latest.log from .minecraft/logs.

@inland berry (Omniphysical) uploaded a log,

  • OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM, version 1.8.0_392
  • Forge 11.15.1.2318 on 1.8.9 using 2 mods
  • OptiFine M6 pre2

Possible Solutions:

  • Go to your Minecraft folder, navigate to config/notenoughupdates, and delete storageItems.json.
inland berry
#

@earnest eagle Do you think I should follow that solution it mentioned?

earnest eagle
#

@inland berry seems more like an error in /neuec

#

You might just wanna ask neu

#

Also seems like there's a bug in dg so check if there's an update

inland berry
#

I did go through every individual mod to try and figure out if I could isolate the mod causing the lag and I know if I remove ONLY skytils, the menu lag almost completely disappears

#

So I assumed it was simply a skytils issue but maybe it may be confliction of two or more mods?

#

For this error, I removed every config from /neuec and also disabled skyhanni enchant parsing and they didn't affect the lag at all

inland berry
#

I ran Forge with only Essentials and Skytils, and in that frametime graph you can see a weird consistent frame drop

Spammed with errors

earnest eagle
inland berry
earnest eagle
#

Oh no it's these errors

inland berry
#

Let me re run with spark#

earnest eagle
#

Normally that shouldn't go above 1.8 maybe even 1.5 with 2 mods

#

No less even

inland berry
#

Okay that actually does make a lot of sense

#

Let me run with another jre

earnest eagle
#

Nah it's probably the errors

#

Can you try just essential?

inland berry
#

Ah

#

Alright

#

I have to say though, with just Essentials and Skytils, my frames in the Menu became very consistently high but I could still see 1% lows really bad

#

@earnest eagle Yeah pretty much no issues if I remove skytils

#

That was just essentials and spark

#

By pretty much no issues I actually mean no issues at all ^

earnest eagle
#

Your mem is still way to high

inland berry
#

I want to say that it's a side effect of Redhat

earnest eagle
#

It's your jvm args

#

Xms4g

#

Don't set that to 4g

inland berry
#

What would you recommend?

earnest eagle
#

In prism I have it on 256 MiB

inland berry
#

Oh that's weird

#

With just essentials (and spark) the errors are still completely present but obviously I'm not getting any frametime spikes

#

so those errors shouldn't correlate with that lag

#

Okay so what I'm fairly certain seems to be happening is

#

Having all my mods (without skytils) does drag down my frames in skyblock menus, but Skytils itself seems to cause a consisent framedrop, which becomes considerably worse when paired with the rest of my mods also dragging down my fps a bit

earnest eagle
#

Can you use -Xms256m

inland berry
#

I just wanted to point out that now (with all my mods INCLUDING skytils) there is no frametime drop

#

But as soon as I run any menu like /bz, the frametime graph goes crazy

#

With -Xms256m the frametime graph looks better, but it feels exactly as laggy

#

Exactly same with just Skytils removed

#

Using an external frame checker, my 1% lows have gone up a noticable amount too

#

This is the spark profile without skytils, where the game runs perfectly smooth

#

In case you can compare it to my previous spark profile and find where the issue lies

#

Not sure why it's saying 2 mods

#

That's the log file with all mods aside from skytils

inland berry
#

Shows no errors

inland berry
#

It runs butter smooth though

#

Typically in a situation like this I'd simply just play without skytils

earnest eagle
inland berry
#

But I do use its features and if I can help it, I want to keep the mod

inland berry
earnest eagle
#

Tbh I don't know how many frames you really need in menus

inland berry
#

Which causes rlly noticable stutters

#

I would be perfectly happy if my fps simply locked to 60 in menus, but the 1% lows make it really annoying

#

Especially when all the issues seem to be coming from a single mod

#

This is the log file WITH skytils

#

and there's a couple errors

#

I don't know if we can assume that it's these errors causing the lag but I'm thinking they might be

#

[20:05:55] [Client thread/ERROR]: There was a problem reading the entry META-INF/versions/11/org/bouncycastle/jcajce/provider/asymmetric/edec/BC11XDHPrivateKey.class in the jar C:\Users\Zaid\AppData\Roaming.minecraft.\libraries\org\bouncycastle\bcprov-jdk18on\1.78.1\bcprov-jdk18on-1.78.1.jar - probably a corrupt zip

#

There's this error, and I tried to remedy it by simply deleting the .jar

earnest eagle
inland berry
#

and after relaunching, it automatically redownloaded itself and then error'd

inland berry
inland berry
#

And this error is only caused when Skytils is in my folder too

earnest eagle
earnest eagle
#

can you try disabling the WS server setting in /st config

inland berry
#

You think there could be some confliction between the two mods?

inland berry
#

The log file doesn't show any errors or anything useful at all after all the mods are initiatilised and I'm in game

#

Let me try with Skytils in mod folder and without skyhanni

earnest eagle
#

maybe an fml log?

inland berry
#

What's that?

earnest eagle
#

Should be in the same folder as a latestlog

inland berry
#

This is WITH skytils, but without SkyHanni

earnest eagle
#

I really can't tell if this has the issue lol

inland berry
#

the average frames are definitely better, but the 1% and 0.01% are identical

inland berry
#

Let me send log

earnest eagle
#

Like lowest frames is 83fps

#

Might be minecraft tickspeed causing it to be inaccurate in the graph

#

Skyhanni does apparently cause errors only when both skytils and skyhanni are in my mod folder

earnest eagle
#

you know what com.twelvemonkeys.imageio can be btw

inland berry
# inland berry

Even though this numbers-wise looks better, the actual in game experience without skytils and WITH skyhanni feels night and day

inland berry
#

I tried typing these names into .minecraft file explorer search and couldn't find any files

inland berry
#

Apparently this

#

I'm definitely now leaning towards the idea that it's Skytils and Skyhanni clashing in some way

#

Lag becomes substantially better when I remove either mods

inland berry
#

@earnest eagle I genuinely could NOT tell you how this worked, but I simply made a new forge profile, moved all my mods over, slowly started adding in the config file for each mod, and eventually noticed that SPECIFICALLY the newConfig file in NEU causes the menu lag. Replicated my entire original .minecraft profile files, then manually changed all NEU settings to the identical configuration in my original newConfig file and my entire problem is fixed? Genuinely no idea how that works lol

#

Hopefully a poor soul with the same issue as mine runs along this thread
