I don't see any mods folder for me to add Skytils, NEU, and Patcher (the three mods I use). Do I just make a Mods folder and add the mods there or do I need to do something else?

essential is for patcher but it's auto downloaded

if you double click essential you make another profile

make a mods folder and make sure all of ur mods are on one profile and you arent creating seperate ones

delete essential-mod, essential version in /versions/

essential mod sometimes creates a folder if you download it from the website doesnt matter if u delete the folder or not just make a "mods" folder in ".minecraft" and you should be fine putting all your mods in there

they just have to be compatible with the mod loader youre using

I also have Curseforge installed so I could play a modpack with my brother, but I wouldn't imagine that affecting anything related to my current issue

Idrk, probably should just uninstall Minecraft and delete /.minecraft then reinstall Minecraft, launch 1.8.9, close it, double click forge, install, make a mods folder and put all mods in it

I realized the problem
I forgot to launch the normal 1.8.9 before using the forge installation
thats why the error message kept popping up
