Hey, for a long time now i had those moments when my fps drop to 0 for like 5 seconds, so i downloaded sparkc mod and finally managed to record at the moment of lag spikes, and i now think that Skytils is making these lags, or maybe essential?
so i'm here to try to report this and find the feature that make these lag spikes

yes

#

but the lag spikes dont happen only in the crystal hollows
i get them in crimson isle too but i never managed to record performances during those
and i have only 1 waypoint too in the crimson isle

ignore skyblockdungeonhelper, it's my own mod that just simulate right click when pressing a button

# gleaming geyser sorry for late reply i was at work

ok so u have some work to do... first all that cannot run on that laptop, and whats bazaar notifier? all of those mods either are viruses or slow down your game, neu has fancy warp menu so delete that mod, why do you need time changer? its just taking up space and slowing your game down, for block overlay im gonna guess that it just colors the outline when you aim at a block, you dont need that its just slowing your pc down, im gonna also guess that powns togglesneak is like sneak toggle and u have it in minecraft so u dont need, whats autotip and odin? never heard of them, and all else seems fine

# granite lily ok so u have some work to do... first all that cannot run on that laptop, and wh...

i was running these mods fine for 4 years, only recently (well 1 month now) have i started getting lag issues
bazaar notifier, is a very small mod, it just check hypixel api every minute or so to see if anyone underbid you
neu don't have fancy warp, i have latest beta and cant find it
time changer just change time to always night, nothing taking large amount of fps
cant play without block overlay
toggle sprint & sneak is only in minecraft 1.12+, can't use 1.8.9 mods there
odin: i downloaded it last week and had the issues before getting it, so it's clean
autotip just run "/tip all" sometimes

granite lily
#

just try what i advised u and see if it works, if not change it back

gleaming geyser
#

well ig there is something wrong with my system, i wanted to maybe reinstall it
ig that what i will do this weekend...

granite lily
#

go to patcher settings and disable HUDChaching

Apparently the worst part of it seems to be sba slayer tracker rendering?

#

Also try 4gb ram instead of 3gb?

#

But probably the easiest method to check would be like removing half your mods and seeing if it still happens

#

@gleaming geyser may i ask where u found the 1.8.9 download? i think this could be helpful for my friend

#

ah nvm i found the repo

gleaming geyser
#

will only be able to test this all on weekend sorry

gleaming geyser
# naive dome Also try 4gb ram instead of 3gb?

i have 4096 ram allocated, sba slayer tracker all disabled but still lag
if i add more ram neu show a warning "too mcuh ram, more than 4g can cause fps issues..."
testing all the things said here rn

naive dome
#

Ig you could try removing sba from your mod folder if it still affects the performance in spark

gleaming geyser
#

removed SBA, disabled hudcaching, but this have lags, with these mods
but hudcaching still appear in the spark thing??? https://spark.lucko.me/TG2cUcnqDw

rn i'm playing with only optifine and patcher, but cant really do anything productive...

/spark profiler --only-ticks-over 150

gleaming geyser
gleaming geyser
#

just cuz in NEU's discord the bot say to use 50

naive dome
#

Would probably be fine for normal stuff

#

But with 50 it still gives 17926 ticks, of which almost all are likely not lagspike related

gleaming geyser
naive dome
#

Maybe just play with your mods as normal and keep the profiler running with the 150 limit so there's maybe a chance we find a solution, but if it's actually a laptop issue that'd suck

wise gazelle
#

my friend has the exact same problem and im starting to think its a pc issue.

#

his pc seems to lag while handling chunkpackets, and i ensured his chunk loading settings are optimised

#

also im not entirely sure if the windows profiler is very accurate, esp. with the cpu usage

#

gg

wise gazelle
#

like in both of ur cases the profiler says incredibly low cpu usage, which is really weird

naive dome
#

And this is some of the previous profiler results

#

But idk how you go about fixing that

wise gazelle
#

but i have the suspicion its not a minecraft issue

#

like in sugars case he profiled ticks with 200 thresh and it said 0% cpu used

#

i think its the fact he uses a low power usage laptop cpu

wise gazelle
#

doesnt minecraft use g1 on many pcs by default

naive dome
#

tbh idk

dont remember why but i decided to redownload my nvidia drivers (i have a HP Omen gaming laptop with a gtx 1050ti)
and followed this tutorial to clean the drivers of things you dont need, and i don't think i'm getting any lag spikes anymore, playing fine with all my mods
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8zSEdf9DGI
some things i changed too:
disabled HUDCaching in patcher, i felt that the game was kinda laggy (like 40fps) even tho i had constant 80fps, without it it's way smoother
saw once NEU's pet overlay in the spark logs, so i replaced it with SkyHanni's, tho i'm not sure if this was really causing lags
disabled SBA slayer trackers for every slayer like suggested above

I'm also experiencing lag spikes ever since the Skytils version that added catlas though I haven't done any profiling or investigating beyond a vague feeling it's memory related since launching a higher ram profile can hold off the lag spikes for a bit though they are inevitable. I only experience the lag spikes in dungeons however and only after playing for 30mins-90mins, and after the lag spikes start they will repeat forever with ever increasing frequency and eventually get down to every 7 seconds or so.

Is it waypoint related? The fact that it only happens to me in dungeons where there's hundreds of waypoints from dungeon rooms mod adds credence to this theory. Will disabling patcher's hudcaching help?

I've got a 8gb ram, 3050ti, and a decent 11th gen i5 cpu and lag hasn't ever been a problem before these lag spikes started up with skytils v1.9+. Also only running 11 mods total with only 5 of those being feature heavy.
