@restive dawn i restarted mc but got the same error, and the essentials folder doesn't show up in .minecraft right now

No if you install forge with something like skyclient or the essential installer it uses a different game directory

@restive dawn sry to bother but it told me to update this mods when it opened/ are these safe? if i reinstalled essentials shouldn't it have already had everything updated?

pretty late, but those are different mods and essential updating doesn't mean every other mod is updated

and yes, it's safe for the foreseeable future
