the only thing i can think of is u didn't put it in the correct folder or ur launching the wrong version

They didn’t put it in the right folder

Your mods folder if you used essential’s installation of forge will be in a different directory

It should be .essential if I am not mistakened

There are more directories in .essential but you’re supposed to put it in .essential/1.8.9/mods I believe
