Then get the installer

double click it

#

Make sure it's set to client

#

Then install

Then just create a new installation and select forge 1.8.9

Then just launch it once, make sure it works

#

And if it does, press win + r (if on windows, idk on other operating systems) and type %AppData%

Well yea 300 of those fps are likely just feather spoofing them

#

If you have Patcher + Optifine it's better than Feather (because Feather practically only uses them for their optimizations)

Use VBOS: ON
Smart Animations: ON
Render Regions: ON
Smooth FPS: OFF
Smooth World: OFF
Fast Render: OFF (for mods that need it off)
Fast Math: OFF (since this breaks things more than it helps)
/patcher > Search HUDCaching > enable it
