Install forge
I have the forge installer installed
but the problem is I can't install forge from the forge installer

if the problem is that nothing pops up when you run the forge installer, open command prompt and type this: cd Downloads && java -jar forge-1.8.9-11.15.1.2318-1.8.9-installer.jar

when i run the forge installer it's not that nothing pops up but instead i get an error message and ive tried everything

if that doesn't give you an error then try running the command java -version

nah you're fine
two options:
- we try and fix this problem or
- you can download Prism Launcher which is basically a better minecraft launcher, you can install forge in a couple of clicks using it

no problem, try downloading the forge file again https://maven.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/1.8.9-11.15.1.2318-1.8.9/forge-1.8.9-11.15.1.2318-1.8.9-installer.jar

once it's downloaded check it's in your Downloads folder, and run the java -jar forge-1.8.9-11.15.1.2318-1.8.9-installer.jar command again

Assuming you’ve added your mc account, click “folder” on the right and file explorer should open
Then open the .minecraft/mods folder

Yeah, then you should be good to close file explorer and hit “play” in prism launcher
