i deleted the launcher and reinstalled it and it was fine but after i installed forge this happened and idk why

ya I was messing around and saw this before so I had to go back to forge 1.8.9 (I was on vinnila 1.8.9)

so when you go to your launcher what dose it show

when i go to the launcher it shows the version (1.8.9) without the forge

ya you have to change it to the forge option otherwise no mods will work

then he installed the mod

i followed the steps but is still does this

I recommend you use prism launcher, it installs forge with 1 click and is much easier to use

No it doesn’t compile the mods, but it’s much easier to install forge using it

ive tried to change the version but its still not working

i installed optifine for 1.8.9 but when i open it theres no optifine in the mods list

Windows: Hit Windows Key + R and type in %appdata%. Open the .minecraft folder.
Mac: On the bar at the top of your screen in Finder, click Go, then click Go to Folder and type ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft, then hit enter.
Linux: .minecraft is located in your home folder. ~/.minecraft

Open your Minecraft folder and send the file called latest or latest.log from .minecraft/logs.
