Avoid feather client if possible, what do you mean forge isn’t able to be downloaded?

I watched the skytils tutorial and copied everything exactly as they've done it

Are you having problems downloading the forge installer, or running it?

I can download it, and it'll have the "Download Success" or whatever it says message after I do, but when I check the launcher nothing is there

(that's what i've been doing before, but maybe its something else I need to open the .jar with)

In the minecraft launcher, go to installations, click the edit button on the right of the installation you want to edit, click the version dropdown and scroll all the way down to the bottom, you should see forge 1.8.9 there
oh and you need to restart the mc launcher after running the forge installer

I'm not sure then sorry, if you're happy using another launcher I can show you how to install forge using this but if you don't trust it that's fine
