#Movie Scheduling Help

Not sure if you solved this, but I might be able to offer a solution, might not be the prettiest solution but it’s generally consistent for me.
So, I personally run a large majority of my channels on block schedules that’s divided into four separate 6 hour blocks
i’ll use my cartoon network setup for example (not at home so excuse the wall of text)
So, 6AM-12PM i’ll have a morning block,
12PM-6PM afternoon 6PM-12am night,
12am-6am late night block.
using the preview block feature when making my blocks i can roughly guesstimate at what time a specific show, or in some scenarios blocks will come on based on the average runtime i see
i’ll add in my shows, commercials etc and keep an eye on the block runtime. At the 4 hour mark for my 12-6 afternoon block, that’s when I will start to schedule Toonami. so usually between 4-4:15 on average, the Toonami intro plays, DBZ comes on good times. once the block ends at 6PM, it’ll just transition back to regular cartoon Network for a few hours.
I’ll, repeat the process for adult swim. schedule roughly 3 hours of content so at roughly 9PM it’ll transition into adult swim. so from 9PM-6AM CN is straight up adult swim, bumpers and all.
I’ll utilize the deco templates to switch all the watermarks and relevant cosmetic assets over to adult swim branding.
Since adult swim shows anime Saturday nights historically. I have an entirely different anime schedule that will play starting at midnight Saturdays instead of the usual weekday programming.
i’ll pretty much go under the playout for cartoon network and under the calendar feature set that alternate schedule to play on Saturday only. while i have 3 other schedules that’ll rotate throughout the week.
There’s a few caveats to my way of creating channels.
dead air will happen, it’s inevitable. I kinda call it my “anti binge watch feature” every 6 hours (so every block) there’s a chance of on average for me 5-10 minute period of nothing being scheduled so i’ll set the fallback filler to a generic we’ll be back screen with some old school weather channel music for ambience.
so if breaks are a deal breaker, then probably not the best method.
another caveat is it’s very time consuming. copy and pasting blocks been a godsend for me. but it takes a lot of tinkering and finding out the right combination of content to add up to that magical 6 hour number with as minimal interruptions as possible.
and finally occasionally times are a bit of a suggestion, that aren’t necessary static. so although Toonami or adult swim is supposed to come on on at 4PM & 9PM they can really be 4:10 or 9:15 at times.
so for a strict start time scenario you’re better off creating a separate block that you insert in the template at the exact time you want it to be.
ex. 9PM Saturday starts the movie block versus inserting it within a block, which would be way more preferable for your use case because of movie runtimes can vary.
not sure if any of this helps or makes sense, but I would say for me i’ve had the best success using block scheduling for having specific shows, or blocks come on certain days, and times so it’s worth experimenting with
