#Block Playout Unexpected Reset

Last week, I created a weekend block schedule (set specifically for Sat and Sun) and it ran the first 2 episodes for multiple shows. The week came and my Mon-Fri schedule continued it's previous batch of episodes for the scheduled shows (these shows are intentionally different from what is on the weekend schedule).

However, as of today, the weekend block shows are now back to episode 1 again, and tomorrow will air episode 2 again. Any idea what may have happened? I have not reset or modified anything for the weekend block since last week when I created it.

I have since increased the playout building 7 days so I could look ahead and see if the episodes for the weekend would progress. Now, it looks like the weekday playout (which previously was progressing as it should be) has reset to episode 1 for all shows except for one (which retains the order it was progressing in) for no apparent reason.

This is a puzzling situation.

fwiw making the playout build more days usually just delays any issues with history because it builds it all in one go, as opposed to building a shorter period, saving its state to the db, loading it from the db when the playout is extended and applying history at that point before performing the playout extension (build with mode "continue")

#

with that said, i'm unable to repro any obvious history issues here by forcing my block playout to extend a number of days into the future (one hour at a time).

#

if you send over your db and let me know which channel has the issue i can try to repro there

Happy to send it. Would that be here or DM? I don't know if it contains any sensitive info.

And is it the one titled ersatztv.sqlite3 from Appdata?

DM is good, and yes that's the file

Sent! Thank you!

Something is definitely up. The shows in the 4-7 block aren't progressing. I manually removed episodes 1-10 to get them back to episode 11 (where they should be) and, while it works for the first day, they don't progress to episode 12 the next day. They're stuck on the earliest available episode (which is now 11).

You can see that every other chronological show around them reset to episode 1 and now progresses forward (images attached show Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday's schedules). Again, Tenchi Muyo at 5:30 pm seems to be the only exception to this, as it didn't reset when all other shows did, and it's actually progressing still.

Interestingly, it seems shows that were set to "shuffle" are now replaying the same episodes in the same order they were chosen before. For example, Captain Planet is playing S2E3 today, and tomorrow S6E5, the same order as when I started the playout last week.

yeah, i see the symptoms. lots of things are acting as if they have no history (because they don't actually have any). need to understand why.

Thank you for looking into it!

ok - found and fixed the bug. if you update things should continue to progress as normal, from where they are now

Thank you for working on that so fast! Unfortunately, it looks like the future episodes still aren't updated. I reset the playout and it still shows that the TV shows aren't progressing. Do I need to edit an item first?

they will progress

from where they are now

#

it can't magically figure out where it's "supposed" to be due to missing history records

Ooooh okay. So the playout says Episode 11 plays the next few days, but likely will change once the item plays for today. Sorry for my misunderstanding!

anything that is already on the playout will not change, you could change the number of days to build down from 7 to the default of 2 and it might get better faster - though im not sure if it actually clears future items

#

i would probably make another backup of your db, edit the playout and erase the items (not the history) then reset it to rebuild the items

I chopped the days to build down from 7 to 2 and saw no result. However, I edited the template, removed one item (DBZ), hit save, and then added the item back in, saved, and reset the playout. Now everything seems to be fixed! I'll keep an eye on the playout for the next few days to see if it continues, but it's looking good. Thank you again for all your help!
