how does it behave in the playback troubleshooter? search for the title of a movie, use the overflow menu to open the troubleshooter

It should work well, just select video toolbox acceleration in the ffmpeg profile in etv

you just need to tell etv where ffmpeg is - if you open a terminal you can type something like where ffmpeg or which ffmpeg and it will print out the full path to it, which you should put in etv settings > ffmpeg

that's strange. what does the channel preview look like? if you click play on one of the channels in the channel list
